I was jumping up and down like a demented idiot through most of it and it was fantastic to hear Heresy, I'm Afraid of Americans and Metal live...and yes the guy singing out of tune in Piggy was hilarious!!! Shame there was no Closer or Starfuckers though...

In that case we probably shared sweat at some point, holy hell that was one intense show. Gutted they didn't do any Joy Division covers at the Manchester gig - Peter Hook from Joy Division was at the show.

on other things, amazing concert, just amazing, felt every emotion known to man, goosebumps from Hurt, unreal.

Meh - same engineer did both JA and NIN... I think they musta ran outta time for getting the linearray right. Vocals were pathetic out in the arena. Down in the pit will have been better as they had a downfill above the moshpit, but for the rest of us I think the vocals ended up drowned in the mix a bit too much. Heyho - these things happen...

Strange thing about JA. they sold out the last tour a few years ago and the shows were wild, but i just think the crowd was there for NIN. The double headline thing just didn't work. There a great band though. Hope they tour again. Can't believe they are in the Centro in London tonight.[/quote]

Tuesday the 14th of July was a day I'm not going to forget for a long long time, and one I didn't think I'd get to be witness too. Thanks in no small part to a great friend of mine, who gave me the ticket in return for some alcohol (which I still need to ply her with).

It had taken me roughly six years to see Nine inch nails, a band who appeal to me for more than one reason. When I heard again this year that they'd be touring, I jumped at the chance to see them, but unfortunately found no one to come join me in seeing them. then when all hope had been lost, a free ticket dropped in my lap... Now this was something that made me more giddy than a pre pubescent teenager screaming at the latest teeny idol! my only dread was while having a little shop at the merchandise stalls, i found the name of the tour out, 'Wave Goodbye', ominous to say the least.

when i finally got to tmy seat, I was underwhelmed by the support bands of Mew and Janes addiction, who didn't seem like they were quite with us. But when I heard the opening chords of 'Somewhat damaged' that little chill rose up my spine, and turned me into mush.Then the flowing and booming chords of 'Terrible lie', 'Heresy' and 'March of the pigs' made me turn into that age old proverbial butter in Trent's hand. The awesomely played Covers of 'Metal' (a Gary Numan song) and 'I'm afraid of Americans (David Bowie) had both my friend and me fawning even more over Mr. Trent Reznor's god like being.

Then seemingly taking a quiet interlude shortly afterwards with 'La mer', 'Gone, Still' and 'The way out is through' before blasting us with the massive sound of 'Wish'. then onto the last section of the night, where Trent found even more of his elastic energy, to play the biggest crowd pleaser's 'The day the world went away', 'The hand that feeds' and 'Head like a hole'. Now with the stage and the arena shrowded in darkness, and the crowd so silent you could hear a pin drop, and even a mobile phone go off, the opening bars of 'Hurt' could be heard. a song played so beautifully that it almost made me weep.

it wasn't until a week after this night, that I found out that the title of the tour was more than ominous. 'Wave Goodbye' is the last Nine inch nails tour, and will most likely be remembered as the best one, Due largely to the enormous high the band are receiving currently. this was the first time i had seem them live, and now it will be the last.

if this is how Nine inch nails go? then it truely was a Wave goodbye...
