Requiem for a Dream.

Even though I just watched it for the first time yesterday, I can consider it one of my favourite films. Great acting by all the cast (Jared Leto, Marlon Wayans, Jennifer Connelly and Ellen Burstyn) and pretty intense. Perhaps not a film for everyone to handle due to the scenes of drug use, but it really hits you hard and portrays the negative results of drug addiction.

Definitely a must watch.

I watched Hard Boiled for the first time yesterday at Prince Charles Cinema, which I thought was one hell of an entertaining Action film.
^
i loved baise moi and this must be the place too!!! great movies.

now i discovered something from a fresh russian filmmaker, igor' voloshin, two films from him very impressed me.

it's
[www.imdb.com]
Nirwana - kind of cyber-punk-drama, grotesque scenery and costumes, and a nicely disturbing movie, describing somehow the last years of the youth (not only in russia, i dare to say)

and
[www.imdb.com]
"me" (or "i")
reference to "one flew over the cuckoo's nest", but a story rather about the 1990s.

highly recommended, not only because of fine soundtracks!
if you have any possibility to watch them in english - do it!
(ok i did it in russian, but i believe, the aesthetics work for the rest of the world too)

I recently watched Baise Moi.

A really extreme French flick that is filled with plenty of explicit sex scenes and brutal violence. It felt like I was watching a Porno film, but I liked the plot of it as it is about these two girls who go out to seek revenge after one of them was raped.

I enjoyed it quite a bit but anyone who is squeamish and sensitive should stay well away from this film, as it is certainly not for the faint of heart.

This Must Be the Place OR Robert Smith "Nazi Hunter"

This Must Be the Place is a 2011 drama film directed by Paolo Sorrentino, written by Sorrentino and Umberto Contarello and released in the U.S. in late 2012.[1] It stars Sean Penn and Frances McDormand. The film deals with a middle-aged wealthy rock star who becomes bored in his retirement and takes on the quest of finding his father's tormentor, a Nazi war criminal who is a refugee in the United States.

The film was an Italian-majority production with co-producers in France and Ireland. Principal photography began in August 2010. Filming took place in Ireland and Italy, as well as the states of Michigan, New Mexico and New York. The film was in competition at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.

The look of the character was inspired by Robert Smith of The Cure. Sorrentino had seen The Cure perform several times in his youth, and when he went to see them again in 2008, he was fascinated by the fact that Smith, even off the stage, still wore the same kind of attire as in the past: "Here was a fifty-year-old who still completely identified with a look which, by definition, is that of an adolescent. But there was nothing pathetic about it. There was just this one thing that, in the movies and in life, creates an incredible feeling of wonder: the extraordinary, a unique and thrilling exception." As soon as the screenplay was finished, Sorrentino sent it to Penn, who accepted to star.

Ethan Hawke does his usual good job. I'd recommend it for a good late-night horror fest. The film is pretty dark both literally and in content. Bughuul reminds me of Kagutaba from Noroi: The Curse.
