i was looking forward to seeing two upcoming shows.
it worries me that Moz is too sick to continue the tour :(

The Smiths and Morrissey are so listenable. It doesn't hurt that most songs are an unique mix of super-catchy and jaded-sassy. It's funny too me that How Soon Is Now was covered for the intro to the Charmed tv series. Despite that they are always on the list on my nano...

The Smiths and Morrissey is my go to depression music. It was so necessary to have it growing up in the 90's. It still makes me happy to listen to it, Morrissey is so talented.

Just bought Hatful Of Hollow and i can't believe i didn't listen to this before.
It the space of an hour, it became one of my favorite records. It's a shame it's a compilation and not an actual studio album.
But it's one of these records where every song is perfect, and once you're at the end of one song you really want to put it back to the beginning. I've been listening to William, IT Was Nothing almost on repeat for an hour.
I definitively have to check the other Smith records i haven't listened to yet, and then i'll give Morrissey's solo work a listen. I have a few songs from You Are The Quarry and that's about it.

The Smiths are probably my biggest guilty pleasure band and by biggest I mean my favorite of all of them.

I have yet to check out Morrissey's solo work. I hear its just not nearly up to par, so I'm a bit hesitant at the moment.

the encore in Dallas 04/10/09
First of the Gang to Die

at 39 secs, you can see our flag, pictured above.
at 1min 53secs, the only successful stage invader to get a hug (don't know who that was)
at 5min 51secs, the flag is thrown to Jesse Tobias, and he walks off stage with it.

since then they have been bringing out the flag during the encore! at the Austin show a couple of days later, you can once again see the flag behind Jesse Tobias. so we were like, "holy shit, Morrissey liked our flag!" :)

if you see the show, keep an eye out for this flag. a friend of mine made it and threw it onstage at the end of the Dallas show. since then they have been bringing it out during the encore. i'm curious if the will continue to bring it out after the Texas shows.

i just got my tix in the mail. i'm going to the dallas and austin shows. now i just tix to the show in between in houston. i just hope the nin tour dates (when ever they do get announced) don't overlap with any of these. :)

The new stuff is still awesome!
I expected Years of Refusal to wear off in a couple of days, but no, it actually grew. I think it's a really strong album reminiscent of Your Arsenal. Even individually, these are very good songs. Special props to Mama Lay Softly on the Riverbed, When Last I Spoke to Carol (awesomely dark song), It's Not Your Birthday Anymore, and I'm OK By Myself (Amazing ending)
Also, these are the best vocals Morrissey has ever put to record. Definitely.
Really, the only Morrissey album I don't really like is Viva Hate (Bona Drag is much better).

Any other Years of Refusal thoughts...?

Does anyone have any confirmed US dates? The only ones I've seen so far on his myspace and ticketmaster are on the east coast. I think I went to billboard.com and they have full US dates all over the place...I wish the full US dates are true, because I'll be following Moz in Dallas, Austin, Houston and posssibly the west coast. :D
