Red Hot Chili Peppers The thread for discussion about California's favorite band! Basically, the Chili Peps have been my favorite band since I was a zygote. I grew up listening to them, and even though my musical tastes have changed drastically over the years, they still (and always will) have a special place in my heart. RHCP have gotten a lot of shit for their....[i]enthusiasm[/i] about a certain Golden State, and Anthony Kiedis' often nonsensical lyrics, among other things. While I won't deny that both criticisms hold a lot of water, there's still so much to love about this band. Their high-energy live shows, complete understanding of each other musically, genre-defying sound, and John motherfucking Frusciante are just some of the reasons why I'm proud to call the Chili Peppers my favorite band. Very by-the-numbers RHCP. I said in my other post that I liked it, but it really doesn't hold-up well compared to their other albums, IMHO.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Questionable. They've been around a long time and put out a large volume of work, true. But half of it lacks any substance or originality in my opinion.

I would argue that the 90s was their golden period, although some prefer their albums from the 1980s. Their last few were still pretty good though, especially SA.

i was watching the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony on tv last night, and saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers get inducted. it really drove home how long they have been around, their incredible volume of work, and all they have been through. Hillel Slovak's brother was there to accept the award on his behalf, bittersweet. and Flea... he is just a beautiful human being.

i'm so glad that Axl Rose did not show up, otherwise his drama would have been the focus instead of the (in my opinion) more deserving Red Hot Chili Peppers and Beastie Boys.

His not showing was the most noteworthy event at the induction. There would have been less drama had he actually been there.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced that they must postpone their winter tour of the United States so that frontman Anthony Kiedis can recover from multiple foot injuries.

According to a statement from the band, Kiedis "recently underwent surgery to removed a crushed sesamoid bone and correct a detached flexor tendon in his foot." The singer is expected to make a full recovery in time for the rescheduled dates, which will begin on March 31st at the Amway Arena in Orlando, Florida.

The band's revised tour itinerary is as follows, with the original date followed by the new date.

GOOD album don't get me wrong, but nothing mind blowing.

A few good songs (about three) but the rest I probably won't ever listen to again.
