A Little Black Book

Passage

Contained within a dream
The surge being forced
 upon the shell
Lean into the night
Bear the changing burden
Compelled

Crawl on your shame
Trample on the past
It's before you

The black sphere
The cave of time
The scar of solitude
The passage

Exit.

Ok. Now is the time. I have been posting on this little thread of mine for almost 3 years now. It has been a superb experience of revealing, sharing and checking myself. I have learned and earned. All things such as this must end however. I have moved forward. There have been tough dark spots, sure..but many who have stuck it out in that time were always lighting a way for those times. Closing the chapter, evolving, breaking through...and arriving. This is my path. Thank you for your attention.

Undercurrents

In sun streaked neighborhoods
flocking green parks
childlike at play

Respect of peers
Allowance of fears
shared and collected
in the toils and smiles.

These full streets
in exchanges and thoughts
awaken and borne of
life
blessings
attuned.

A sense of the infinite
unending feel and momentum
without care of time
or threat.

And so it came

after the unrelenting sweep
of rumble currents
pulled puppets of what wasn't
anchored.

Hauled off
all that was
unaware
unguarded
unprepared.

These leavings of the terrible tide
were all but barren
gaping holes of a
death drone.

We the departed
are left but this
to ponder.

This abandoned shell
a crypt of memory
crumpled blackened gray postcard
of what was
and could never be.

Things I'll Never See

Time can't allow
The patience for mortality
The works of man
The glories of nature

An all-expanding universe
In perpetuity contracted
The life of the sun
A return of the millennial comet

It won't wait

My remaining sunsets and sunrises
May count in the thousands more
But after the planet will continue to swing
Around the vacuum of the expanse

I won't know

Peaks of civilizations
Rise and fall
The shifting plates
Of nations and places

Sleeping

The brevity of lifetime
Hands taken by angels
Sweeping vista of seconds
Unfurling the absent future

I recognize in moments

A void of storytelling
Gaps in shared experience
Kings and queens,
Gods and Mortals

A passing tide

The revolution of spheres
My kingdom come undone
I'll imagine it all ahead of us
The tree and not the forest

A single step

For now I'll stop reflecting
On this silent subject
And continue about THIS day
A consideration of now

A red light changes

Alighieri Avenue

Nine boxy capes
Nine gates of white picket
Nine green squares
All in a row

The shining path
Of tranquil peace, harmony
Here wipes itself
Into the dirt of these nine mats

This small circular way
The cul de sac insane
Walk with me to see
The bold and profane

Mailbox One
Is devoid of walls inside
To allow for the blind wanderings
Of the directionless and doubting

Doorknock Two
Smells of the hot steam of
Beds afire in thick shame
A stained silk of sorrow

Welcome Mat Three
Rotting of food spillage
A kitchen table of froth
Pouring vomitous hate

Jockey Fountain Four
Contain the closets a-full
Silver and gold drowning
The skeletal grip of coin

Rocking Chair Porch Five
Cacophony of shouting
Intent on the infinite
Fuel of fire in fists and fighting

Pole Lamp Six
Confused array of paintings
Candles lit in shrine
Of faces twisted, torn

Screen Door Seven
Blood strewn walls
With flesh clinging
A fury of blades begotten hate

Wind Chime Eight
Strobe light of televisions
Wall to wall
Eternally set to advertising all

Awning Nine
Bedrooms hiding secret bedrooms
Trunks with single locks within locks
Hidden guilt walled within

As we turn our back on
The sidewalks that parade by
We soon forget the horror
Of the nine entombed within

On this, a perfect blue sky
