Trent Questions/Mod selection Discussion

The Trent Question thread click here will be kept separate. In this thread, we'll talk about the selection of the spokesperson moderator, how they will provide the questions to Trent (text, audio recording, etc) and how we will select the 10 final questions for Trent from those that were submitted in the other thread. Trent wants the fans to narrow it down to 10 questions, which he will answer in a video. It's up to us to decide how.

If NIN went on AFTER Jane's Addiction, how is it that you missed 45 minutes of the show? Also, doesn't that make NIN the headliner?

^^I think people have forgotten by now what the 10 questions were supposed to be and so aren't going to notice or care about that 11th one.

Next time I think we should have a poll like the one you designed but no voting down: you vote for the 10 you want and the top 10 get asked. The end. Put a cap on the number of words allowed. Someone had suggested a one-sentence limit but that is TOO limiting and only allows for very basic superficial (read: stupid idiotic fluff) questions. The average # of words for this past list was I think 200 per question and they weren't overly long.

I'm actively seeking any flaws myself (they actually taught me that kind of thing at university) but none of us are omniscient, and I won't threaten to ban anyone who does bring a problem to my attention.
Unlike hostpc.com - I pointed out a few problems soon after I became a their customer, and in gratitude they closed my hosting account, banned my forum account and refunded my money - haha. Seriously hostpc.com = bad, obvious spelling mistakes on their main page and all.
They don't like technically-proficient people helping, but I welcome them!

nympholept posted:

Houghy posted:
(a reliable source tells me this is definitely possible to do.

It's so possible, and your idea was so good, that I've just added the ability to comment.
http://nin.nympholept.com/ninq/

There are no mods on my unofficial poll, but if there were it would be easy for them to read the comments on the questions, and press a secret mod button which says "this question has been answered".
I haven't yet added the ability to sort by number of comments, but that is trivial to implement.

With an account system, or at least a ticket system, the original author of a submitted question would be able to take their own initiative and mark their own question as answered, if they got the question they were looking for. A ticket system would be simpler, would not require registration and it would take me about 5 minutes to code.
(I'm not planning on allowing questions submissions at this time for this experiment, but I will be sure to include a ticket system in another project I'm working on.)

Another method of doing it would be to have a third button: "answered".
So the voters can decide as a majority whether they are happy with the answers already given. Unfortunately, this method would reply on the honour system, and people are likely to click "answered" on any question the don't like, so there would still need to be an overview.
A highly rated questions with a suspicious number of "answered" votes would be easily spotted, and the "answered" system would really only be to alert other voters that the question was potentially answered, it would be up to the individuals to read the answer and choose if they are satisfied.

To avoid abuse, each user is only allowed 1 message per question, but you can change it whenever you want. The system is not designed for conversations.

***************************************************************************
This is really good nympholept.

Again, everyone - this all for future projects/exercise success -

If everyone would just focus and stop reading into the feedback and taking it as a personal attack and stop being on the defense - (and seek help for ADD) - this would all be a lot more positive.

I can hardly even believe my eyes at all the bickering - for fucks sake - As soon as someone makes a positive critique and comes up with a solution - the conversation fucking explodes and veers so far off the point, that the bigger picture gets lost! Simplicity people!

What the fuck - get over your loverly selves, you are all bright and intelligent - get this party started and make some fucking progress - instead of falling so far down into the ditch that the whole meaning is gone!

(my pom pom's are out - rah rah - go fuckers go!)

And for fuckity fuck's sake....GO AND VOTE - it's almost over....
