Although admittedly I haven't tried Max/MSP yet (or Reactor... ohh, I really need to check that out).

If software is good enough for Kraftwerk, it's good enough for the rest of us :P.

Didge's are so hard to play. Even when I got the circular breathing right, I lacked the ability to use my voice to make sounds instead of just the fart noises I'd make with my lips.
Fun instrument though, don't pass out!

(Don't let Aboriginal women touch it either!)

I'd have to say the Wavetable, or the ReacTable.

I'm not entirely sure if some people would class them as instruments but since I've played everything else and these are pretty much out of reach for everybody (Except Bjork, apparantly) They're the only things that could be considered dream instruments.

Heh, it's all about x&y joystick, Compact version doesn't have.
I want any controller with a joystick.

PS: Why don't you come to "NIN Sound Research" Post...you have a good knowledge about sound and synth.

Besides guitars, I'd love an electric cello. I couldn't play it, but I'd really like to experiment with one.

Oh, and a new drumit would be nice. 20" and 24" BD's (lefty double pedal on the 20"), 8" 10" 12" shallow rack toms, 14" 16" 18" floor toms. Some great cymbals too. Sparkly silverburst finish. Oh, and add a 13"x7" maple snare with wood hoops there too.

I think a simple mix of a synthesizer and a digital piano will suffice.

seriously, though, software VST's for me. need to get a good MIDI controller at some point, though. however - I must admit, I've never really fiddled around with an actual hardware synthesizer. and I'm a bit afraid of what might happen if I got my hands on one. too embarrassed to try those at music stores since I can't really play worth shit. :D
