Recommendation for Vinyl Player

I apologize if this has been asked before. But I'm looking at getting into buying vinyl and changing up my listening habits. I'd love to be able to open up an album, put on the record and enjoy the art/lyrics as I listen.

I've got a somewhat decent surround sound on my home theater and am looking at getting a lp player that can plug into my receiver.

Any recommendations or suggestions on where to start?

I also collect vinyls, just broke over 3000 recently, they are fun to collect, been doing it since 1990's.
I use the Audio-Technica AT-LP2D-USB LP turn table to listen to my records on my theater system, and record to my computer, might be more your cup of tea... I also have another player, for classic listening, but it has built in speakers....

Hey,

I have over 2,500 lps and only about 100 cds. Almost all of my serious listening in via vinyl.

The first item to pick is your budget...
And just after that is finding out about your reciever and what its phono specs are or if it even has a built in phono stage...

If you can get me the first item & the model of your HT receiver, I'll give a few recomendations and some trustworthy dealers in your area.

I'll shot you an IM also.

make sure it has a stroboscope on it (the dots on the side of the platter and the light) since it will let you know if you are encountering any speed issues. DJ standard are technics, but it as long as it is direct drive and has a strobe, you are good. I cannot recommend any stylii though.

aside from that, its your choice...just make sure it comes with a new stylus and you set the counterweight and anti-skate properly. If it is new, it should come with instructions.

Hey viirus-
Good info, but please elaborate. Brands that you think would not be a waste of time and money- I live by a Guitar Center, so anywhere around DFW is an option . .

thanks in advance . .
