Formula One Fans and Nine Inch Nails Fans

Just wondering since the new Formula One season just started, how many NINs fans and F1 fans there were. I have had a few discussions with some of you.
I use to go to the United States Grand Prix in Watkins Glen , NY when I was like 5 years old in 1970. I love Formula One. If I ever won the lottery I would follow the whole circuit around the world. I realize most Americans are more into Nascar, but with a new track being built in Houston maybe it will attract a larger US fan base.
I'm a huge Ferrari fan now mostly because of Fernando Alonso.

I didn't realize two threads were going on F1. I am also a Kimi fan...glad he is back. Wished he would have passed Vettel for the win in Bahrain.
But I bleed Ferrari red and Alonso is my man.
I stated on the other thread predications for 2012:
1. Alonso
2. Button
3. Vettel
4. Hamilton
and what the heck Kimi or Schumaker for 5th but I am hoping this changes

What do other fans think of Monaco. This is my least favorite race. I think it is totally boring. There really is no passing and unless it rains it is dull as can be. The scenery is beautiful, but that is it. They say it is the crown jewel of racing.
Also excited about Alonso signing with Ferrari until 2016!

Too much money for hosting the event (like $26 million) and also that track sucked to be honest... When that 2005 tyre debacle happened I think everyone was done with F1 in America (at least at Indy).

I don't think Glock pulled over on purpose. He had no grip. That certainly sucked for Massa. He has not had the same form as that year. But I also think that Ferrari have not had a decent car since 2007. They have to let go of Aldo Costa and get some new faces on the design team.

I used to like Steve Matchett as a commentator, but he is so BORING. If you read any of his books it seems like that is all he talks about. It's not 1994/95 anymore Steve! He says the same things at every race. Maybe its because I watch FP2/Qualy/Race on SPEED... oh well. I like that they stream FP1/FP3 online now with only ambient noise. That sounds awesome.

I was also a huge Raikkonnen fan. I would use the Iceman as a username for things. I also hate Nascar, but Kimi is in the truck series and is only going to race when he isn't rally racing. So I am going to check it out.
I hope he dominates ! He is just way too cool. I think F1 was just too rigid in training and disipline for him (remember the gorilla suit)!!
I started in F1 when Emerson Fittipaldi, Jackie Stewart, David Hobbs (met him a bunch). I also met James Hunt a few times. I was at Watkins Glen when Francois Cevert was killed. As I got older I got to party with the McLaren mechanics and they would let me hang out on the pit wall and watch the race. After the Glen lost the United States Grand Prix in I think 1980 and the Canadien Grand prix wasn't in Mosport anymore, we didn't go to anymore races and I was more into partying. So I missed the whole Senna, Prost years. I got back into it when Micheal and Ferrari dominated. My parents are huge Shumacher fans, and I am a huge Alonso fan so I was glad when he beat him for the championship. I like Massa, Webber and Vettel. Can't stand Hamilton. If Glock wouldn't have pulled over in that last corner Hamilton would have never been champion and it would have and should have been Massa!
I like Speeds coverage of the races. Hobbs knows about driving, Matchett knows the technical end, Varsha is a good announcer and Buxton is a little hyper, but thank god they got rid of Peter Windsor. Man, I couldn't stand that guy!

Yeah, the 500 is a whole other breed when it comes to open-wheel racing. I wish Formula 1 drivers were still allowed to participate in the race. But that means halting the season for a whole month (besides the August break).

IRL is such a waste of time. Nigel Mansell showed them that it's pretty damn easy to race with a bunch of Americans. Then Bourdais going to F1 was just a laugh!!! Even if he was with STR!

BloodType89 posted:
Hate NASCAR... Freakin love F1.

Can't hate NASCAR anymore now that JPM and Raikkonen are racing in it. They certainly make me follow it more.

I have been watching F1 since I was 3 years old. I have not missed a race, ever. Even through the domination of Ferrari, I watched every race. I've been to Montreal in 08 and 2010 and will be going back this year. Even though Indy was only 4 hours from my house I never wanted to go there because the track layout sucked and the infield sectors were just so blah... Next year I will be making the trek to Melbourne and Austin!

Still a Raikkonen fan and I really don't have a favorite in F1 anymore. I am a huge supporter of Di Resta though. He owned DTM and his skills are certainly translating to F1. I like Webber/Button too, but not as big a fan as I am of Raikkonen. He was certainly born/raced in the wrong era. He needed to be racing with James Hunt.

I missed a lot of races because of the time differnce in Europe. Once I got my DVR, I haven't missed a race. The DVR is one of the greatest inventions!
I was always a motorhead growing up, and I used to watch the mechanics in the pits. The night before the race they would tear the car apart and put it back together at 4am. They use to wear regular shirts and dickie pants and I could stand on the pit wall and watch the race in NY and Canada. Now they are decked out as much as the drivers. I mean you could walk with the drivers and talk to them. Now you can't get near them.
Anyway my dream was to actually be a Formula One mechanic. Those cars are so technical, loud and fast.
I guess I just have to get off watching them race!! I love watching the race on a rainy Sunday morning!

Hate NASCAR... Freakin love F1. Wish I followed it better. I seem to miss alot of the races cuz I forget to check the schedule.
My favorite racing would still have to be OverSeas Touring Car series's and DTM, but I watch any F1 race that I happen to flip onto.
The greatest thing about F1 is that you can really get a sense of the speed on TV (unlike most other forms of racing that give the illusion that you could hang with them in a stock Camry).
I can only imagine the sights and sounds in person. I would love to attend an event.

Glad to see some other NIN GearHeads.
