I completely agree wth your thoughts, the music is pretty good, but very similar to Dragon Tatto stuff which is great but not all that different.
The lyrics and the hooks really kill this album in my opinion,
The ones you mentioned are all pretty lame and the chorus from How long is god awful.
Trents wife voice is extremely boring, does not do much for me, very run of the mill chick singer nothing special.
Whenever you hear Trent come in you wish he would take over. Perhas she is responsible for the cliche lyrics as well.

I haven't witnessed TOOL in concert but I've heard their singer and the band hides behind a curtain most of the time like the emperor of Japan. ?
