i love the dark room feel when i was at manchester.
just need a fuck load of smoke and some lights so i can see the band

^_^ it isnt about the fucking lighting people, its about the music.
so stop bitching.

^_^ listening to nin at home/car/ipod is about the music!, watching the band live with an excellent show and atmosphere is about the experience!...watching them in a dark room with smoke is not as good as the awesome lits experience big lcd screen coolness

You're right. It's not as good, it's so much better.

2007's shows > 2008's shows by a huge way for me.

^me too

if i heard that speech correctly on youtube he said they are continuing as a four piece? - so without a keyboard player id imagine we could be in for some heavy heavy perfomances? - which is exactly what id like this time round

do you think we will see any europe shows next year? i might die if not.

Festivals, according to TR. Stay alive.

festivals only ? eye rolling smiley

let's go for rain and mud or heatwave, and concerts which lasted only 1 hour 15 minutes sad smiley

Better than nothing smiling smiley

12/17/08 5:09 AM

Better than nothing, sure.
I just can't help hoping they will do another festival than Werchter in Belgium (cf. rumour). I don't really have the feeling they would be at the right place there.
Nevermind, anything will do as long as it's NIN!

12/17/08 6:11 AM

Really I dont wanna buy into a lot of these rumours about Mr. Reznor playing europe in june or playing europe in march all I just want is to him to come to england and soon I have never seen them live and it would certainly be a pleasure to see them

the problem is: if they're gonna do a festival in austria or germany, i believe they won't fit in any of these. sad smiley
rock am ring/rock im park: no
frequency: no
novarock: maybe, but no
southside/hurricane: if they continue with the kind of line up they had last year, no.
rock am see: uhmm...no?

but as you guys said: better than nothing.

The LIGHTS IN THE SKY era has come to a close, and I'd like to once again thank you for your support. I am very proud of what we pulled off - it was an immense amount of work and worth it all.
I'd like to thank Josh and Alessandro for being an integral part of this for the last few years and I wish them all the best.

No rest for the wicked here, though. We start rehearsing the new band/format first thing next year and as I mentioned, we'll be announcing some final waves of dates. North America, UK/Europe, Pacific Rim and elsewhere.

OK, I know it's about the music but I've seen NIN twice now (the last two times they came to the UK) and although i've said it before, I'll say it again... not seeing the full Lights show in the UK is just a major fucking disappointment tbh! The fact we are probably going to get some small venue shows (if that!! if the rumours are to be believed!) again with minimal effects (as compared with what the US gets) is just very sad.

I love Trent/NIN's work and have done for well over a decade now but really, when will he give the UK fans the show we deserve!?

12/18/08 9:32 AM

He did - those 3 magical weeks in 2007 where we got things like Last, WITT, and the first half of TDS played in order.

And those awesome screens we got for TGD and Me, I'm Not, and the mashup with Happiness in Slavery during TGD that hasn't been played since.

I must say I'm disappointed as well. Though another Finland gig wouldn't be a certainty, anyways. In any case, I sort of might have been able to live with it if that filming with James Cameron's crew would've succeeded, but alas, it was not meant to be. (Hell, to see it in 3D would have been hella cool, but I'd kill just for a "vanilla" HD concert film like BYIT)

Now, if we do get another gig even with the 4 member lineup, I will obviously be happy (supposing I can attend). But it is quite a letdown not to be able to see what seemed like the greatest tour on Earth. Period.

12/18/08 8:33 AM

come back to glasgow a.s.a.p!!!!! lol tongue sticking out smiley best gig ive ever been to ... seems so long ago.... too long smiling smiley hurry hurry .... pirate bint xx

12/18/08 12:39 PM

i think after the response he got at reading/leeds 2007 its safe to say he wont be playing any UK festivls guys

12/19/08 7:21 AM

From what I recall from interviews around that time, he got a great response in Reading and Leeds. It was compared to other EU festivals as being so much better. Of course, he then said that it was great to play a non-festival show where people weren't sitting on the ground, but a solo gig is always going to be better!

And those Glasgow gigs were AMAZING!

12/20/08 12:38 PM

Trent,
Please confirm to come to Belgium/Europe before the 13th january or after the 20th, otherwise my exams will suck.

Thank You.

NIN played @ werchter 2005. it was a very short setlist, but still frikkin good.

And some say they will play at Pinkpop? That's on the border, for me 30min driving :-)

definately - we need to keep every body part we hve crossed for brixton.

i thought that the crowd responses at reading / leeds seemed a bit limp - altho they were on straight after losprophets.

come on seriously! i would love to see the light show as well but we can't expect trent to ship all the stuff here, for arena's the band won't sell out. that wouldn't be efficient. he'd be broke after that tour. we are bitching and about things which aren't even confirmed! (solo gigs without light? hell we should be happy if we get any solo gigs)

we should be happy with what we get, and all in all it's still NIN playing! we shouldn't bitch around if we don't know what the shows are gonna look like. i'm 100% sure that trent is gonna put up a great show for us as well. and even if there aren't any lights, i kinda think it would be quite awesome to see the band kind of stripped down to its essentials. =)

there isn't anything we really "deserve" and there is no reason to be "disappointed". hey we get shows (hopefully not only festival gigs)! be happy about it.

let's wait...and hope for solo gigs.
start complaining when the dates are confirmed and there aren't any solo gigs. winking smiley

i didn't want to offend anyone here, but i think we should stay realistic...

Better not be. Seriousley it's a load of shite if that's the case. Fans of NIN aren't just in the US, NIN are v popular in the UK and i feel we deserve more than just a festival show. We didn't get LiTS, the least we deserve is a four piece club tour. That goes for the rest of Europe as well.

Were you there and if so you may know something I don't? I remember seeing the youtube BBC footage of Hurt at Reading and the whole crowd seemed to be singing along, people were saying in forums they'd never heard of NIN but became huge fans after that performance. I really want to see the green led screens for Me I'm Not as I missed that last year (I saw them in brixton early in the year then foolishly thought the later shows were going to be similar so didn't go)

12/22/08 4:25 AM

I remember feeling really proud of my little NINs after seeing that performance. The response to the logo being flashed up at the end was great grinning smiley

12/23/08 4:35 PM

I´m a bit disappointet that we, as Europeans, will never ever get the chance to see the Lights In The Sky tour but I´m also looking forward to the "stripped down" shows we will see.

In the end, it´s still a NIN show and I´m sure he will rock us like a fuckin´ hurricane winking smiley

CAN´T WAIT FOR THE EU-TOUR!

12/24/08 3:17 AM

Well, as far as it goes for me I'll honestly just be happy if they come here (the UK) and do a club tour. In terms of the light show it would be amazing to see, but you can't beat the intimacy of the small venues in my opinion.

With the four-piece band and a new drummer, i think it will be limited.

festivals suck

12/26/08 3:03 PM

Festivals suck, but they're still better than nothing. And I'd love to see something like Woodstock '94!

The second day of Rock im Park '08 turned into something similar to Woodstock '94. Mud was everywhere, people were making really monstrous mosh pits and shit... Some HUGE german she-male (nothing against german people, but this 'girl' really was huge and she-male!) threw me into mud during the RATM gig. But it was fun! :] I'd actually love to experience something like that during a NIN show. And RaR/RiP is an old festival with a long tradition, and I don't think that organisators will let something like Rock am See happen. So it could be pretty good, eh?
