i mean that man probably picked the stupidest (doesn't exist does it?) festivals that he could. and the promoters fucked up the timetable, they can't put nin inbetween two german bands!
i hope he learned his lesson and doesn't come to do festivals.

As far as the UK is concerned, I think it would be perfect if he did the venues like Brixton and similar ones in other cities, but also did one festival, perhaps headlining Reading or Download? That way we get the intimate gigs (well sort of intimate) and we get the full lighting at the festival. Some more warm-ups at the Astoria would be the icing on the cake of course.

pukkelpop 2007

I know he had a great time at the pukkelpop festival in belgium two years ago. They posted a few clips on their youtube channel. I don't think you can really tell where he will show up. If he was bugged out at some 'kugelsack' festival in germany, he's just not gonna play there anymore. It doesn't mean he won't play at any festival at all in europe. I hope he looks at it case by case, not in general.
In brussels they sold out twice on a really short time in a venue that allows about 1200 people. So he could sell a bigger venue than that with the bigger production.
I hope everyone here gets the show he/she wants. No matter what: we'll have a great fucking time. We all need our nin-fix from time to time, right?
sorry for the bad english, btw spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

the shows that NIN did at the end of the performance 07 tour [mostly festivals] had a very scaled down version of what you now see in america.

the 3 band members infront of a curtain was first done on the performance 07 tour and the screen was also. admitidly thatw as nearly a year plus ago and clearly the show is bigger but having that show over here isnt a problem its filling the size of venues that is needed...?

hence why i ahd previously sad about there being a co-headline tour over here?

and as for dates they will be announced soon winking smiley
well frnt page says so!

at brixton it isnt possible for the current live show to be housed in there.
download is the best bet reading is doubtful and as for astoria thats gone in febuary which mayb b to early for light over UK...?

small venues would be cool and i think coz of the popularity of NIN here there would be some smaller shows

11/24/08 4:54 PM

and on a better note remember the club shows last year.....?

we had amazing setlists and some songs that hadnt been performed in years or at all in the case of Last! so without the huge light show there is flexibilty...

and also i find it funny that Ilan spent most of the last 2/3 years in an english band touring here mostly and now hes in an american band he will spend most of the first part of his time out side of the country

Mmm, the Astoria. Mmm.

I also think Trent needs to do some sort of promotion in the UK - it's funny how on youtube you can find some kind of interview footage from other European countries / Japan / Australia but none in the UK except that ill-advised CD:UK thing and a few radio interviews. He should do Later with Jools Holland or something

New dates were added for Australia and New Zealand.
Let's see if next is Asia and then Europe!!
From the look of the dates NIN is playing a lot on festival around there!

I too was waiting eagerly for the european 2009 tour announcement (specifically UK) but it never came, instead we got the new shit on NIN.com info... come on guys, really want to know when my bank balance is gonna get a major battering! I also agree with everyone else on here - time to start playing the larger venues so we can see this show in full, i.e. lights and all! I think the O2, Birmingham NEC and Manchester MEN would be great... they don't even have to fill the entire venue - many other acts have done half-arena shows - just as long as I get to see the pretty lights! the finger smiley

They'd be brilliant on that sort of show!

yeah TR loves Europe! j/k lolz!

If they decided to go over the pond next year I would definitely hit 2 shows and then go sight seeing for the rest of the week.

Haha!
It was great, seeing Trent talk to the audience, but nope.
No one's put something in my Wiener Schnitzel and nope, i wasnt phoning during the show.

But it was hard to pull myself together.
All those idiots in the front rows bitching around just because of "Die Ärzte".

12/04/08 4:16 AM

Reading the announcement of Trent: now I'm lost! Fuck.

edit:
checked my source: "june 2009 europe" is still an option!

12/04/08 4:03 AM

Yep.
Though he mentions the possibility of upcoming shows outside of Australia, the words "likely the final tour for NIN on this scale" and "will be a completely different approach with some different personnel and will likely be the last for the foreseeable future" hurt.

12/04/08 5:24 AM

I think we don't need to panic. If I read well, it just means: no massive setlight and video screens and new tech staff. I honestly doubt he would work his ass off to find a decent replacement to Josh just for a couple of shows (but I might be wrong)

It's a bit unlucky but usually us Europeans do not get the full menu with NIN shows but we get extra - hence rare - songs, so I'm happy with that. The show keeps a certain sense of human perspective to which I'm quite sensitive.

On top of it we all know that Trent is working on a 'year zero' TV show so it will imply he won't have time for touring for a couple of years.

I keep my fingers crossed

12/04/08 10:38 AM

It would be nice to see NIN in Belgium / Europe again indeed, especially if we won't have the opportunity to see NIN for many years to come. How large the lightshow Trent brings is, is irrelevant to me. I'd be just as happy with a small set up.

12/05/08 5:43 AM

Hmmm...

I've got some Eurostar vouchers hanging around somewhere. If/when there's a European tour, methinks I might use 'em!!

Probably Paris if there's a gig there. OK, I can't speak a word of French beyond yelling "croissant", but I've always fancied going to the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle (armed with a large dictionary!)

grinning smiley

12/05/08 7:05 AM

I did that for Kylie this year and it was well worth it. I've got family in Lille and Brussels, so if the gig were on a weekend, the idea would pass my mind...

12/05/08 6:34 AM

I'll have to get a copy of this then!!

Have no fear people from Angleland.
Many people do speak a basic English in Brussels at least.
It's not as bad as going to London and try to speak any other language than English spinning smiley sticking its tongue out
As a matter of fact, I might try it this w-e as I'm in London, could be good fun winking smiley

12/05/08 7:52 AM

Pff, tell me about it!

Luckily, I grew up speaking French, so these are two countries I can get by OK in!

It's actually embarrassing to be A Brit Abroad sometimes - cuz the education system is so shit in this country that we can hardly speak bloody English let alone any other language...

eye rolling smiley

Me? I can understand written Dutch pretty well because I grew up in South Africa and had to learn Afrikaans at school, so the only European country I can get by without showing myself up as a pig-ignorant linguistically challenged Brit in is The Netherlands!!
