Robin, hands down.

sorry silly question. FINCK hands down. Aaron just didn't totally fit. there was something missing. FINCK has it all. image, style, technique, emotion. anyone thats seen AATCHB DVD knows that.

Actually, it's apples and oranges. Aaron was more about providing raw energy, putting on a good show and improvise without caring if he fucked up or not and he could transmit all of that very well. Robin is a more refined guitarist, he puts a great show without trying, you hear him play and it's just like on the record, only better.

I think a mixture between both of them would be perfect, but since I can't have that, I'll pick Robin.

PS: Hi Kel smiling smiley

Robin is far better. No competition.

Aaron was a technically challenged guitarist at best who had neither the skill nor subtlety to perform most of the NIN catalogue with any decency.

Robin, on the other hand, is highly accomplished and can easily out-perform Aaron while still putting on a good show. I am immensely pleased that he's back.

aaron. he is a cool guy. n jumped on to me in birmingham uk. so funny. he was nuts, i used to love watching him play.
i also like his new band jubilee.

i do like robin... but i dont think he brings that bit extra to a show like aaron did.

Robin is hands down a better guitar player. All Aaron did was wave his guitar around like an idiot. I am very happy Robin is back. His stage presence gives me the chills.

Maybe it's because I never saw any of the old shows but I'm not overly excited by watching Robin onstage at all...I fell in love with the old line up but part of that might also be because those were the shows that I really got to see the band on, I'd seen them once in 2005 but before the summer tour I had no idea the sound. There was something off about the way he interacted with Trent and the rest of the band....

It bothered me...

Robin. It just sounds right.

Robin no doubt. I remember first seeing nails in 95 when I was in 10th grade. Seeing him back again brings back memories I had of the craziness, destruction, and animation during the Downward Spiral tour. Robin is still the bomb. He has a great energy and maybe it's because he cares and wants to do a kick ass job! I thought Aaron was boring and un-inspiring on stage much like Jeordie.

09/05/08 2:41 AM

I like them both. I were sad when Robin didnt returned for the with teeth tour. But I got to like Aaron. he's a nice guy and a freak out of league on stage. I like them both and I DO miss Aaron. as much as I'm glad that Robin is back. Can we not have both? please? ;-)

Robin.

When I first heard Robin was back I didn't know how I was going to like it cause I got used to Aaron's playing. But after seeing him live a few times I definitely like Robin better. Aaron could get some crazy sounds coming out of his guitar but I think Robin is an all around better player, the songs sound tighter.

I do miss Aaron's playing on The Big Come Down though, his parts in the outro of that song were awesome!

09/05/08 5:19 AM

I defenitely prefer Aaron 'cause it's amazing seeing him live..he crashes everything and keeps moving on the stage amazingly...and you?who do you prefer?

we already have a thread aaron vs. robin here

Hands down, Robin!! Love ya Aaron, but Robin is the shit!! Can't wait til tomorrow!! Floor tickets at the Forum!! ALL RIGHT

This is one of the few instances where I don't side with an older member of the 'band.' I have to side with Aaron. A hell of a lot more entertaining to watch and it just seemed like he 'fit' better with the sound they were going for at the time.

Robin

09/05/08 11:52 AM

This is a tough answer for me. I like Robin a lot back in 99/2000' and currently. Aaron was great as well too .. he was a nut and gave a little more stage presence for me. I think overall I just link Robin's style and look better.

09/05/08 10:57 AM

Ahhh god. It's so fucking good to see Robin again. But Aaron is entertaining in that he just zooms all over the stage.

Have to go with Robin though, just because he's legendary.

If you were really a fan of Aaron, sure you'll miss him. If you have issues with a guitarist who doesn't run around constantly, flailing around, doing handstands, jumping on equipment, keyboards, etc. and stage diving at least once, sure you'll miss Aaron. That's Aaron's way of doing it, and I did enjoy watching him.

However, my vote is for Robin. There's a certain energy and prescence that he brings to NIN that doesn't require him to flip over backward to pull me in and keep me interested, or to put on a great show. I prefer his style of playing over Aaron's, and like some people have mentioned he really seems to feel the music when he plays. Also, I think his choice of movement and body expression are a better fit for NIN right now than the all over the place craziness that Aaron brought. In addition to all that, I've always liked Robin ever since I first saw the MOTP music video before I really got into NIN, as I just thought he just rocked. There's plenty more that I could comment on, but I'll leave it at that!

On what basis do we have to choose? Hair or guitar?
They have their chances in both categories.

Hm, I'll go for Aaron North because he makes me laugh on stage.

Robin.

09/06/08 9:44 PM

The Finckster any day!!!

09/06/08 10:43 PM

aaron has way more energy and better stage presence. ^_^ he is sooo soo adorable.
i just want to give him a huge hug and hold hands with him in a field of poppy flowers while skipping :p i went to vfest and i was front row. it would have been better if aaron was there because i would have been very close to him.

I've seen Robin on the fragility tour and the LITS tour and I've seen Aaron twice on the WT tour. I like Aaron a lot more. They both are great guitarists, but Aaron stands out so much. His energy is hard to compare with. Especially during March of the Pigs and The Big Come Down.

Nine Inch Nails just sounds right with Robin. He has the sound and style that really fits NIN, and he's more technically talented.

I like both though.

09/07/08 3:27 AM

Aaron is great, with the strings in his fingers and his feets on the stage is a crazy man he knows perfectly how to rock. But Robin has an unique ambient style playing, looks like an gremlim. Hard to choice one but i prefer Robin, No wonder why is back

200% ROBIN
