If $100 a ticket is too much for one of your favorite bands, then you need to discover one of the thousands of ways to produce income.

In every civilization from the dawn of time through capitalism, socialism, and communism, the poor people always get the shaft.

Making money is easier then you think, just get your ass off the couch.

Never heard the term "working poor" I guess. Some of us have jobs, work full time and still have issues. Just in case you thought all poor people just sit on their ass.

I'm just scared because I told my fiance that I'd take him to the Toronto show for his birthday. Of course, I want the best seats I can get and I will pay whatever the price is because it's NIN AND Jane's Addiction, but man, it's going to hurt, especially since we are saving up for our wedding and a house.

I won't settle for lawn seats. I had lawn seats for the White Stripes at Molson Ampitheatre and I couldn't see a thing. My eyesight is horrible, even with contact lenses, so it was like I wasn't even AT the show.

03/21/09 8:01 PM

well, i'm figuring it this way....

i knew NIN was going to do one last tour before Trent puts NIN to bed and tries out something else (will NIN resurrect? who knows?), so i've been saving up.

i am able to go only to the Chicago and Noblesville shows because that is the only time frame i can travel and leave work and family.

i was able to get all my flights from Hawaii to O'Hare and back with air miles...i totally scored!

i just don't get a lot of opportunity to see my main man...gotta take it when it comes. unless TR feels like stopping off in Honolulu on the way back from the Orient, there is probably going to be no NIN for me for a looooooong time.

i can't wait until May!

Hehehe. A few years ago, I had to miss the With Teeth club tour because I had a once-in-a-lifetime change to go to Hawaii for free. I have to live with people bragging about how great those shows were, but I learned how to surf and they didn't smiling smiley

This guy changed my financial life. Years ago I never had enough money to see any shows, now I go to multiple NIN shows.

NIN is not doing any favours this time around, no no-name opening acts. It's the only way each party can score a bit of cash. I'm sure TR takes a %99 rake and leaves the last %1 in ticket sales for the rest to fight over...

That's cuz Jane's Addiction isn't going to be there, NIN only.

I know that. I am still surprised. lol Tickets for any band at that place are normally more than i'd prefer to pay.

Thought I was going, but cant afford it. Not the bands fault just the way it is right now. Im just really disappointed, but I will be fine!

Ok....$6.00 "parking fee" PER TICKET?!?! Are you kidding me?! WTF! I've been waiting this long to see both bands & you expect us to pay $24.00 parking for one fucking car! How do you know where we are parking? Do I show the hotel our tickets? I better be getting a whole lot more than parking for $24.00! The price in the end is almost double the "ticket" price after Live Nation puts on their fee and then a parking fee. This was to be a birthday present. This was to be great. I don't even know if I can stomach going b/c all I can think about if $24.00 for parking. It's the principle...hello?....remember principles???

You can thank the venues for the $6 per ticket parking fee. They started that years ago in lieu of charging parking at the gate of the venue. Instead of paying the old $12 a car, now sometimes people end up paying $24 or more. Or like you said, you may not even park there. Just a big money maker for the venue. They don't even have to pay people to stand out there and collect money any more either.

Oh, and I believe that this fee used to be buried in the services charges for a while. I've only recently seen it listed seperately. Maybe since the Ticketmaster/Live Nation split.

This is definately one thing that you can't blame the bands for.

03/26/09 9:56 AM

I can and do blame the bands. There are a lot of artists out there who are saying no to Ticketmaster and Live Nation because of the fees. There are a lot of artists out there who have decided that maybe not packing in a huge stadium or being as famous isn't worth their principles. Sure....Live Nation & Ticketmaster will make sure you have bigger gigs & more $$....if that's what's so really important to you. Just saw Ani DiFranco for the 3rd time in Tampa. She's never gone that route and that's why she can hold her head high. She's not alone, either. I understand the NIN & JA did not themselves put these fees on there, but they made the decision to deal with them knowing what would be going on. They aren't being held hostage in this.

There are not many artists that are treating their fans better than NIN right now, you can see any show on this tour for a resonable price, and the fans who were willing to cough up some extra money ended up getting great tickets (with resonable fees) for these shows through presale.

When you're a band as big as NIN, you really cant avoid playing TM/LN venues. Pearl Jam tried to pull it off in the 90's,,,, and it was a disaster.

Even better, TWO were free! You are probably thinking of The Slip but Ghosts 1-IV is free also.

I can't believe people are complaining about this! I paid $118 (fees included) for a pit ticket. I think that was an awsome deal and the easiest way to get a great view. If you think the prices are more than you can afford, give something up. There are a million different ways to save money. Stop bitching and do something productive.

i think just the first 9 songs from ghosts was free. the rest of the album was a $5 download

^^No, the entire thing is free. NIN chose to make the first disk available through nin.com's download for free and charge $5 for rest. But 2-4 are available via download from other sites for free as long as the terms of the Creative Commons license are respected. That's what Creative Commons means: free for non-commercial use.

Edit again: I'm removing that so I don't confuse anyone. Hope nobody saw it! :-P

2 pit tickets are not really worth 240$ (to me) and I relish the freedom of speech that allows me to bitch about it publicly on forums like this. the finger smiley

I make good money, but I've been around for quite a while. I don't go to many shows anymore, so $99 a ticket isn't a big deal. Hell, opera and orchestra shows are twice that, and let's not even talk about season passes.smiling smiley Joshua Bell is a doggone fortune!

However, I feel kind of bad for the young uns who really want to see the shows, work hard for their pathetic paychecks (I've been there), but need the money to eat. It's paycheck to paycheck, and a $99 concert just doesn't fit in the budget. When I was in college, I saw at least 20 concerts a year, but I could do it because the cost (equal to today's dollars) was a lot less.

It's a shame. I'm sorry you younger folks or the ones working hard in jobs that don't pay as well (as they maybe should) have a hard time seeing a good show for a reasonable price anymore. TR charged a reasonable price when I saw the WT tour. The ticket price for this tour isn't reasonable, but we could afford it so we got tickets.

I have to say that I don't agree that TR is doing anyone a favor. He's just doing the right things to make money. I just hope he puts on a good show because that's why he gets the big bucks.

Edited to add: She asked first to go with me to NIN. I think she's too young, so we compromised lol
