thumbs up

My very first concert was seeing NIN back in June. I loved every minute of it. Now, there not going to tour for a while. I keep listening to NIN everyday but I still gets me depressed. /:

I listen to NIN every day too, but it never once depresses me.

12/07/09 2:39 PM

have a nice walk outside, call an old friend, eat some ice cream , everything will be.... okay.

Yeah, it's not really that big of a deal. I'm sure some people will get pissed about this post, for whatever reason, but Reznor said he would no longer be touring. This doesn't include studio works.

I saw NIN back in june at the bonnaroo festival. Granted, it was an amazing experience, being one of my first concerts (first Wilco, then Bruce Springsteen, later Nine Inch Nails, and I caught the last of the MGMT show). But get into some other bands. Its not like NIN is the only great band out there. I've been a big NIN fan since back in 2005 when With Teeth came out. So I'm not neccessarily a long time fan, neither a newcomer.

And in no way do I see how listening to NIN could be depressive? It puts me in a better mood looking over the span of Trent's current career and his success.

Try listening to Joy Division, Gary Numan, Modwheelmood. Hell, even try some Daft Punk!

I was so pissed when I first got the news that it was over. I had finally gotten to see NIN live in February of '09 (Weren't in my area... Ever), and then I find out it's the last time they would. Then I was going to fly out for their last show, but the timing went out on my car and I had to use the concert money to fix it! ONE MORE CONCERT! I only got one!

I'm gonna hafta second this. Granted, I never saw NIN live tbh, but I really try to remain constructive and positive about NIN. It's fun to work on a CD collection of NIN because it's something to do that keeps you occupied. But it's okay to let off a little steam with the Broken EP every once in a while.

Also please do look into other bands and musicians. There really is a lot of great stuff out there. I tend to listen to a lot of different genres nowadays, so try jumping around to find a sound you like. I kind of leaned towards music from the Ninja Tunes label or Warp Records with artists like Mr. Scruff, Kid Koala, Blockhead, and Prefuse 73. This stuff just helps me get through the day.

good luck!

I'm definitely a little heartbroken that there's going to be no future chances to see them live again. That being said I'm so happy I got a chance to see them 3 times, (could have and should have been once more, got screwed out of a ticket about 10 years ago), the 3 times I did get to experience NIN live were 3 of the best concerts I've ever been to. I still listen to them all the time, I can relive the joy I felt at those shows when I listen to them or watch my live dvd's.

A warm place and Right Where It Belongs bring a tear to my eye everytime I hear them, pure beauty.

I think Trent will get bored and do more shows eventually. It probably wont be an extended tour with lots of dates but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

02/01/10 2:44 PM

Ugh. Saw NIN in Toronto in August for Wave Goodbye, and have been in a major depression since. I don't expect the withdrawal to ever get better. sad smiley

I'm with cvallance - I'm just waiting to hear that he's going insane without performing, and announces a welcome back tour or something.

I totally support Trent doing what he needs to do - 100%, but I'll never stop fantasizing about another tour.

02/01/10 2:54 PM

And for those who seem to be picturing a bunch of NIN fans sitting in the corner, rocking slowly and listening to Hurt while crying and cutting ourselves or something - fuck off.

I love music, ALL music. I enjoy other artists, and go to amazing shows all the time. I still have an enjoyable and productive life. I know I'm not alone in this.

That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with grieving the loss of something we loved. NIN puts on a fucking amazing show - the best I've ever seen - and the idea that we can't enjoy that experience again sucks.

Seeing as some of you who've commented have never actually *been* to a show, why the fuck are you commenting on this thread, having no clue what we're even talking about? We're not posting here hoping to hear your half-assed version of withdrawal therapy.

I have to say some days I really regret which shows I chose to go to. I should have spent the extra money to go to Roskilde instead of Arvika, especially since I've dreamed about seeing NIN on the orange stage for the past 10 years, and they played my favorite live song, Somewhat Damaged, which I managed to miss out on at the six other shows I went to.

Seeing NIN live is really the best thing I've ever done in my life so of course there's a bit of withdrawal. I can't really enjoy other live acts because I'll know it'll never be as good as NIN was...

02/02/10 10:22 AM

Everything comes to an end. I just read an article where Keith Richards quit drinking 4 months ago because of Ron Wood's public decline. I am grateful i got to see NIN 5 times, but respect Reznor's decision to explore other pursuits, like starting a family. He has NOTHING left to prove. I wish him all the happiness he can handle. At least we have the memories, and some KILLER concert footage to enjoy thanks to thisoneisonus.

02/05/10 10:50 AM

i had a dream last night where NIN came back and played some TV special, then announced a 40-city tour. at first i was pissed cause i thought i had seen the "last show ever" at the wiltern (which i did, that wasn't a dream). then i made plans to see as many of the 40 shows as possible.

oh well.

02/06/10 8:13 PM

Well... atleast you guys HAVE seen them live. How would you feel if you had never seen you favortist band ever LIVE ON STAGE IN THE FLESH, and then you get excited, learning that you are going to see them live, and you get so excited to the poitn you feel like your going to have a heart attack going its "best time of your life" you learn its a week away! SO EXTING! then... you learn the badnews. You don't have enough money, because you're broke all the time. You can never get the things you want. Then, to top it offk, they're never touring again. Fucking great! Life's a blast isn't it! I'm so happy right now! </sarcasm>

I'm gonna go fucking die, seeya guys later.

-cries at how much her life fucking sucks-

He can't do it.

He just can't. He'll give in at some point in time. Remember, Trent IS a musician, he was born to do this shit. He's used to it and it's a part of him. You've got to understand why he always added "for right now" or "no plans currently" instead of just flat-out "done forever".

I get NIN withdrawl everytime I see the "Upcoming Shows" section stuck in 2009...

Well here i am 50 years old, a die hard NiN fan and really hoping that MR.TR does not get old before his time,in other words..Trent we miss you and well Seattle needs a good lifting up after all this political BS,I really need a good concert,i don't go out often and only cause, well my bones hurt but hey if NiN was to come to my fav city(Seattle)i know i wont be feeling any pain, come on guys..aerosmith is still hanging in there, heck even kiss tours, not comparing you to them cause no one can even come close to NiN's but come on you cant end it this soon, you have only just begun.I guess i am missing my fav band and i really need to hear you again. When you came to Seattle in 2008 we were the 1st American city on your tour, you introduced us to a new version of closer and i did my YouTube research and every us concert you held that year with that version of closer not one city was as turned on to that version as Seattle,we LOVED it and we want more,i want more.I been slacking on the forums, actually i don't use them anymore but i do check in from time to time and i see alot of movie things and endorsements and what not,i don't understand them really,i don't understand where they will take you,(i hope if that is what you want they take you to your warm place)but that my friend..is not you,you are a musician, you are a talent like no other, you should not hide behind a movie,or some silly music video(sorry saw that one with all the fire,i wasn't impressed)you need to be where you were born to be,in front of an audience. We love you(TR)NiN and we(I) need you again. Those who want too dispute my findings of the outcome of the closer videos and audience reaction,go ahead do your own research you will see my findings are correct,i went to Seattle and Portland shows and i have to say that Portland totally sucked ass the people were rude, stuck up and looking for a fight,i wish that i never attended that Portland show only because it was the last memory i had of that tour. Please TR don't let this end, take it from an old lady...you are still young enjoy it,take advantage of it..while you can

I'm really late on this thread but, ya.. I'm having a NIN "withdrawal" too. They put on a hell of live show. I appreciate every member's (past/present) artistic contribution to the band.
Everyone one of them have other musical projects going on that are RAD like NIN. It's not NIN, but it's cool to see the many skills & other contributions they got going on, so it's kinda sorta of fix for me smiling smiley

I never got to go see them live, and I'm sad about it. But I try to get a hold of all the old concert footage that I can.

02/11/11 11:37 AM

I'm lucky I got to see NIN live as many times as I did. I think us ninnies have been spoiled by Trent and co. because most other bands don't tour nearly as much as NIN has once they make it to the big time.

Even if they never play another live show, I'll still have all my memories and all the music they've made to get me through... plus I have my husband, whom I wouldn't have met were it not for NIN and nin.com.

02/11/11 11:48 AM

I only saw him live once, in Columbia. He was touring with SSSC and Jane's Addiction. My friend and I didn't have great seats, but it was still a wicked show. We even got a classic TR rage moment when his mic cut out.
