A few questions & speculations from the fans?

1. Will their be an official "Wave Goodbye DVD"
2. What will it be titled
3. Will their be an official audio release of the "Wave Goodbye tour"
4. If their will a special "Uber" collectors DVD will you purchase it

Yes, no , maybe so?

My fucking magic 8 ball is broken.

I'm really looking forward to some sort of epic Wave Goodbye collector's box.

Trent had said that they were not planning to "monetize" the 2009 tour with a physical DVD release. But, hey, that was before they decided to film these last shows, or even announced that they'd be playing them.

Personally, I'd like a concise "best of the Wave Goodbye tour" compilation, in multiple download options (from portable/iPod compatible all the way up to 1080p) with nominal charges for bandwidth costs. No need to duplicate the torrent-flood of LITS gift footage, or NIN's previous live releases.

It sounds as though there are more volumes of Ghosts and even a deluxe Fragile box set in the pipeline, so we'll be spoiled for choice of "fetish-y" physical products anyhow.

If it were cost effective for them to release a DVD / Blu Ray collectors edition I would pay for it. I would love to see at least some of the following.

1. TDS full live from final dates
2. A carrer retrospective video or book , old phots , videos , rarities , etc
3. Special tour book from wave goodbye , I'm sure Rob has many amazing pictures.
4. A live cd , 5.1 surround sound

Just my 2 cents....

09/12/09 10:38 AM

OMG! A Wave-Goodbye DVD in Blu-Ray would be amazing! I would totally buy that in a heart beat.

09/12/09 11:11 AM

i wouldn't call a DVD from the tour "monetizing" it. It'd would be a geat collectible and their needs to be some kind of video chronicling the last 2 years of some sort.
What REALLY needed to happen was a DVD/blu-ray from last years LITS stage show w/the amazing production. What a crying shame thats not happening. Still makes me sick when i think about how the scheduled shows to be filmed were bungled.
I'm sure we'll see some kind of DVD from this.

They filmed the shows, so I'm banking on a very comprehensive look at these final dates, including the insanity that was The Wiltern set. That's what I am expecting. It'll probably be in digital form, most likely. But we'll see.

Yeah, at the Wiltern, they were getting a shit-ton of footage. Rob's footage, from what I could see since I was front-center pit, looked uber awesome.

09/12/09 3:19 PM

I reckon two or three disk, one disc will have all of TDS on it. Others maybe interviews, backstage footage, documentary? Rehearsal videos, Rob's HD shots from some shows etc.

09/12/09 3:22 PM

Do you think that TDS will be on there at all? It was only filmed the second time, and trent said that he HATED that performance. I hope we see it, because from the youtube vids I saw it was awesome.

09/12/09 11:14 PM

Well, Rob said on Twitter re: the pro recording at the last few shows:

And we filmed a ton of video at the last @nineinchnails shows, but no specific plans for it yet. We'll review it all and take it from there.

I spoke to Trent at the London M&G. I asked about releasing the recent clips on vimeo in some way. He said they intended on recording the final shows and probably releasing footage on a dvd in some manner.

09/13/09 7:38 AM

I demand an official DVD/BluRay for these shows and for the LITS Tour.

I could see a special package ala Ghosts. With a nice tour book, liner notes, The Wave Goodbye dvd (every unique song that was played would be nice, but that is asking a lot.)

I could see why Trent didn't want to do anything for NINJA, just go out and put on a good show, and enjoy the moment. But, they have all this officially filmed footage now. grinning smiley

Fragile multitracks would kick my ass 5000 ways of goodness! I said it in another thread, Trent had good things to say about that Arcade Fire 'dvd' release, I could see NIN making something better.

Rob's got his hands full for the next while.

09/13/09 10:39 AM

I would really love an official DVD since these are the last shows. Would be nice to remember the experience(and see high quality versions of shows you missed)that way

1. I'd be VERY surprised if there isn't.
2. I'm going to assume it'll be Wave Goodbye, but they might get more creative then that.
3. I doubt it, the fans can take care of that it seems.
4. Fuck yes.

09/13/09 12:33 PM

I'm surprised that there weren't official digital audio bootlegs of the shows like Tori Amos did with her American Doll Posse tour in '07.

09/13/09 12:57 PM

Was the tour professionally shot like Beside You in Time? or was it like the footage from the lights in the sky tour? I am hoping for a blu ray release of the final show!!!

09/13/09 1:23 PM

Considering that all the shows except Webster were filmed, its pretty safe to say, YES.

09/13/09 3:31 PM

I reckon their will be a DVD. I doubt they'll release the filmed shows as torrent files again, although interesting that wouldn't be as good as a DVD.

Ha yeah, and I don't think us as fans could take that again. Having to wait for someone to assemble a DVD.
But I am being excited for TOIOU's release still tongue sticking out smiley

I'd be happy with a soundboard recording of each of the final shows. A DVD would be immense.

09/13/09 7:29 PM

Live DVD would be a nice send off. Maybe with a 5 min preview of what's next to come from reznor smiling smiley.

09/13/09 8:38 PM

It should happen since they had a film crew for most of the shows .. I'm hoping for 8 hours of footage .. grinning smiley .. you know whatever Trent does, he'll be hooking up the fans with something special ..

09/14/09 12:32 AM

Im totally hoping for this to be HALO 28!!! And yes I really hope they release this on CD. alto of us fans just dont have the means of all this fan downloading content. I would be more than happy to put my money into trents pockets and buy whatever it is they choose to release. In fact, im sorta bummed that there isnt a cd for halo 22 beside you in time. that is one of the best performances ever. I know there are a handful of people that have the computer skills to get that shit on cd but theres also a handful of people who dont.

and another good idea, I was thinking that there should be a separate cd release, 2 disc most like considering these shows are 2 hours plus. and a separte dvd release similar just like halo 17 and all that could have been.

and heres also what im hoping for in addition to above, maybe release a nin only speacial collectors edition of like, ummm, all the shows on dvd or watever they were able to film that will not be in the regular release. but i wouldnt want it as these downloads, i would pay for shipping and all that shit. physical dvd's. WHOSE WITH ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He also said that about the fragile performances, and we still got AATCHB. At least hes sober this time!

If there's a mega super duper deluxe edition, I'll be all over it.

09/14/09 7:52 PM

Seeing how several shows and loads of bonus material can be stored on dvd's, I'm hopeful that some sort of compilation of the farewell shows, including TDS live in its entirety, can be assembled so we can have a trilogy of official live NIN dvd's. smiling smiley

Good point. I was actually watching AATCHB in it's entirety today, and I love it. I prefer it over BYIT, to be honest.
