Just made phone call to the management at the M.E.N Arena about cameras, as long as it's not a video recorder there should be no problems.

Hap3 clickin.

Hmm, so that suggests no real restriction on camera type just no video. I just got a reply from customer services at the MEN stating the same thing they say on the website (unauthorised cameras, video and othe recording equipment strictly prohibited) but went on to say 35mm cameras allowed but not professional trpes with detachable zoom lens.

They also said photography equipment not meeting the regulations will be kept at ustomer Services for the duration of the show.

So maybe bringing the DSLR is a risk worth taking?!

yes. this is a good idea. hehe.

i really hope there are some places that play industrial/techno/electronic. rock is now basically mainstream and seems as popular as, well..pop, and RnB.

alcohol makes some music bearable though i guess. sometimes as long as its loud, its okay.

what other bands/artists do you guys like? i have/had an obsession with tool. ladytron are great, skinny puppy has a handful that i love, saul williams, kavinsky, susumu yokota, aphex twin, system of a down, daft punk.

i also listen to jazz. john coltrane is great.

07/08/09 4:40 PM

Ive always thought rock was mainstream since the 70s, at least in some shape or form...

Righteo! Anyone who wants to, PM me we shall exchange numbers and meet outside after the gig!

Manchester is meant to be like the capital of music I'm pretty sure we will find something enjoyable to listen to!

Dargor, you added me on bebo, right? I do love an Iraish accent winking smiley

Its like any other city - some areas are best avoided - Longsight, Beswick, Moss Side etc. But you shouldnt need to go anywhere near them.

Beswick isn't as bad as you might think, after living here nearly 9 years I've never encountered any problems. Stay the hell away from Moss Side, unless you're packing a 9mm and a stab vest!

Good luck to people looking for cheap accommodation, Manchester is a rip off for everything! I've already turfed one of my kids out of their bed for my friend who invited me to the gig in the first place smiling smiley

07/09/09 6:17 AM

Some parts of Moss Side aren't actually all that bad if you stick to the main roads but you wouldn't wanna get lost there.
I used to walk to the 24 hour ASDA in Hulme via Moss Lane East at 2 in the morning on my own and it was always quieter than a mortuary. I reckon Longsight's worse.

Stay Inn, Manchester

This is where me and my boyfriend will be staying, reasonable priced rooms like and decent quality. And it's like a 5 minute walk from the MEN...I stayed at the Britannia last time I went to a gig at the MEN, it's like a good 20 minute/half hour walk.

Hope this helps smiling smiley

I wouldn't have thought it was that far to walk from the Britannia..?
Maybe 10 mins - 15 mins at most. There's one a bit closer too, Sacha's.

At the Stay Inn, just don't walk the wrong way down Blackfriars or you'll end up in a part of Salford you don't wanna be in! It's also about a 2 min walk from Travelodge Central so good for meetups for lone travellers!

07/09/09 6:29 AM

What time is everyone getting there about?

07/09/09 7:13 AM

11.20am precisely, if trains on time

07/09/09 7:30 AM

Like 4ish?

However long it takes us to get over from Harrogate after me mum finishes work (early) to look after our kids. Hope to be there around 4ish at the latest.

I bought my tix through the nin.com presale so have to pick them up on the day, but it's looking like I can't get time off work that afternoon so will be getting to Manchester after the doors open. Will I still be able to collect my tickets?

*bounce*

Anyone any ideas about this? Don't want ticket collections for presale to have closed by the time I get there, would be most upset.

Not sure myself but I would however suggest trying to email them and see what they say. You can reply to the email you got when you bought the tickets and ask them that way?

I recently replied to that email to ask about where and when tickets can be picked up - they replied stating that emails will be sent out approx 24 hours before the show stating instructions - no idea why it has to be sent so last minute!

Hi, I know this is cutting it a bit fine given that the gig's on Tuesday, but does anyone want to swap a standing ticket in Manchester for a spare one I have for London? PM me or email hybrid756@gmail.com if you're interested smiling smiley

Also might be able to just buy a ticket if anyone has one going, just need to sell the London one.

I'll be staying at that stinking Toast's place. Everytime I go there I feel like I'm gonna get mugged. At least getting to the arena will be easy for me.
