don't think so, i've never heard of floor vs. "regular" GA tickets for T5. the venue is all GA, a ticket gets you access to everywhere except the VIP area. methinks those third-party resellers are making sh*t up.

smoothwok posted:
Irritating and enlightening how ticketmaster just "discovered" more terminal 5 tickets to sell. Must not be doing so hot on their scalper sites.
please show me one ticket for resale that is in any way affiliated with TM. ticketsnow - TM's scalping site - has NONE. TM does not resell through other sites. as a big corporation, they're not going to sell a ticket here, a ticket there. they need to move large volumes.

as someone who spends a significant portion of his income on concerts, i hate TM more than most... but COME ON PEOPLE, let's place the blame where it belongs. i know you WANT to believe that listing on a third-party site saying "2 tickets for sale" is TM, but don't be blinded by your hate.

sweet, may have jumped the gun. I don't have hate for ticketmaster, just a slight disgust for the music biz in general. Probably my retained pessimistic attitude left over from when I was active in the music biz. You would not believe the stuff that was going on back then and probably now.

Emotion aside, it would not astound me to find out that various employees at TM were able to "put aside" tickets for their own use. I have no basis in fact for this, just a well earned circumstantial suspicion I have for anyone in this crazy business. I will admit, I have done some crazy stuff myself. It is almost impossible to make money with music, and you have to fill your coffers from any angle you can sometimes.

Hey all,

My partner and I are devastated that we haven't had the best of luck in getting tickets for our favorite band's last few shows. If any of you kind souls happen to stumble upon two extra tickets I could buy off you, I would be forever grateful. My email is azviaguine@yahoo.com.. Please let me know, I appreciate the help tremendously in advance!

For those who've been to Terminal 5, what's your best bet? Floor or Balcony?

08/23/09 7:51 PM

Haaai! My boyfriend and I are coming in from Pittsburgh, so any and all advice is much appreciated from locals! What's the best place to eat, hang out, etc? We'll definitely be doing some sightseeing before the show! Our bus back leaves at 3 in the morning, so is there any place to chill for a bit after the show before heading back to the station?

please define "best bet". floor is huge, but the stage is raised so no matter how far back you are you should be able to find a line of sight. balconies are above the stage, so if your more than 2 or 3 people back, getting a decent view will be tough. floor will be packed and sweaty, but more fun if you're in to dancing/bouncing/moshing. if you're with a group, it'll be easier to get drinks and get to the bathroom and back from a balcony spot.

i could go on... it all depends what you want.

o hai. recommending a restaurant is tough - there are way too many in NYC. but i will tell you that finding a place to chill after the show won't be hard: bars are open late in NYC. i'd recommend walking along 10th or 9th ave until you find a bar that suits your taste. don't go down to the bus station and look around there - you won't find as many good choices, IMHO.

Because the Universe is pretty awesome, I WILL be at this show!! Still can't believe it. Happy Birthday to me!

I'll b honest. I will not be around the best area. There are alot of expensive lame rest/bars. There is a GREEAT Thai place between 52 and 53 on 9th ave. Wonder Siam? Something Siam. There is another with the same name plus a II , not as good. There are some bars but for the most part they are kinda douchy with lame music. I live in Brooklyn but my girl lives there and I have yet to find a decent bar. Tomorrow nite I will actually do some scouting around the area to see what the best options are near T5 cause I want to do the same pre show drinks and post show drink an chill. If I find anything good I'll post it.

Can't believe the show is tomorrow. See you all there!

Does anyone know if Terminal 5 has food? We went to Webster and they only had a candy counter in the bathroom - there wasn't so much as a pretzel and we didn't have dinner thinking they would have something to eat in there.

Haha, doubt it. More of a chance of PHM or With Teeth being played in entirety. I bet it'd be very hair-raising to hear I'm Looking Forward To Joining You Finally live though.

yes, they have some food - most notably papusas. they're all the way up on the top balcony, which is a trek if you're down on the floor (but obviously easy to get yo if you're on the second balcony smiling smiley)

08/24/09 10:34 AM

ok thanks so much for the info!

08/24/09 10:46 AM

It would be totally awesome if Trent dazzled us with something REALLY rare? Purest Feeling perhaps? Or Maybe Just Once? That would be shweeeet. Regardless, Trent is definitely ending his performances on a high note!

08/24/09 11:34 AM

Hey guys,

Two quick questions about the Terminal 5 shows:

1. I was out of town for the presales, so my wonderful boyfriend scooped tickets for me and my best friend. They are in his name, but he doesn't want to go (no scalping, he just isn't as big of a fan). As such, he is gonna wait in line with me and then swipe his card, point to me and my friend, and we are going to go in. Does anyone know if there is a problem with that? I've called the venue a couple of times, but no response...It would suck if my bestie had to sit out because they were forcing the ticketholder in...

2. Is Trent supposed to play all of one album at the Terminal 5 shows? I'm reading through this thread, and it looks like people are suggesting that...If he plays With Teeth, imma stab someone (least favorite album in an IMPRESSIVE oeuvre...!)

Thanks!

LeilaC:

1. i don't know, but i *believe* your chances are good. talk to the staff/folks working the ticket counter/will call window and explain your case. do you happen to live with your boyfriend? might help if you can prove that you share the same address, makes it much less plausible that he's a scalper.

2. that NIN will play a whole album is pure speculation. they've done it at the last show, and at that show only. so who knows. BUT if you're going to get bitchy about which album they play (and worse yet, hurt someone): please stay home. beggars can't be choosers - we shuldn't be seeing the band at all again, NIN/JA was supposed to be it. to be able to see the band once more in such a small venue is a treat. anything of theirs that they decide to play will be a gift. seriously. thanks.

I don't literally mean stab someone, of course. I'm a small girl. I just hope he doesn't do one whole album, and if he does, the only album I never listen to in its entirety is With Teeth. I dunno why...but I don't think he will. If he does a whole album, I think it would be Fragile or PHM. I'd be curious to see the other setlist.

No, we don't live together...but we are of the same age and, you know, are obviously dating. I just wish it would be easy to pass it off in my name. He even said he'd give me his ID and credit card, but I feel like that would make things even more suspicious. I just don't want him to have to wait in line with all of us crazed fans. Anyone else have any inkling of how it will go down?

No offense to you or your friend personally, but I hope that this does not work out for your friend. The entire point of paperless tickets is that they are nontransferable. Since there's no way way to verify that your boyfriend did not in fact sell you and your friend the two tickets at a wildly inflated (scalped) price he should be forced to surrender one of the tickets by walking into the venue along with one of you. If they let anyone with a story into the venue it defeats the entire purpose of selling paperless tickets. If you get in (even with a seemingly legit story) then there are probably also going to be other people abusing the system (and the fans and the band) as well.

Next time you go out of town give your boyfriend your credit card info and you won't have to worry about transferring the tickets.

08/24/09 1:18 PM

I have to agree with chrispy...thats what I did.

08/24/09 1:36 PM

I'm thrilled to be going to the show tomorrow night. I am also 5'3", so I'm wondering if there are any better vantage points for this show? Is one floor better than another?

Also, after reading the rundown of last night's show, is T5 less of an indoor sauna than what people endured at Webster Hall? I've had my fill of going outside in 90 degree weather at superhot shows just to cool off a bit.

08/24/09 1:54 PM

this is my 1st time going to T5 - but from the looks of it its got some air in there. the balconys might get steamy though.

Webster got a hell of a show - im clueless as to whats coming tomorrow! it will be badass i cant wait.
