Happy it's at the MA so I don't have to drive to wherever the hell it was going to be. Agree with another post - I was looking forward to festival part and getting close to the stage! But the good outweighs the bad here!

It sounds like general admission for the floor and for the section 200 seats - anyone have any details on this? I can't imagine how GA would work for seats - especially when I only want to see a few of the bands and then want a good spot for NIN.

Confused as usual! confused smiley

I am very confused on that too, kinda why I played it safe and go seating, but may see what I can do once I get there. I am NOT hanging out all day to listen to those other bands but if I wanted a good spot to see NIN, how can you not come early and suffer thru it all? Especially if it pouring rain all day, what fun! ONe reason the camping thing didn't appeal to me AT ALL! Been there done that and never again, just too "old and crotchety" I guess.

What time they expected on stage, any guesses? May as well hang out at CNE and Ontario Place for the day then see NIN. HOw long will they play? Some other festival I read about had each band playing an hour, the set lists posted from Asia seem longer but that was just NIN playing wasn't it?

Another post said take video cameras but the virgin site says NO to that. The iphone images and sound good at the NIN blog but was that cause they were taken quite close? The video on my digital camera worked very well from a distance in Saskatoon and Winnipeg, sound was crap tho.

So I'm kicking myself for not getting a ticket earlier, now I'm not sure. How the hell can you have a festival with assigned seating? That's really pissing me off. Has anyone been to MA when they had 3 stages set up/do they host festivals there much?
I'm debating about buying off the Future Shop website but I don't know what kind of admission they'll get me. Is it still a good idea to go through them? I hate Ticketmaster for tacking on fees, I wish they'd just include it in the price if they wanted to do that.
I just don't understand how to do a festival if you can't wander between stages with ease. And if the area's going to be a shitnami of people too... and overnight... have the organizers said anything about people that were expecting to camp at Burl's Creek? Do they just get shafted and have to find elsewhere?

08/17/09 9:15 AM

I bought tickets from Futureshop last week ($105 all-in) and I'm going with the assumption that they'll be the original Burl's Creek tickets. That means they should be good for one of the GA Floor / 200 seats. Got an email today saying my order has been processed so I'll keep you posted.

From what I can gather these tickets will give you either a non-assigned seat in the 200s OR a wristband for the floor on a first-come, first-serve basis.

I have no idea where they plan on setting up a second stage... there's really no room for it unless it's somewhere else on the Ontario Place grounds, and that seems kind of unlikely.

I would love to know what Trent thinks about this venue change. I can't believe the amount of people not going now. I can't believe how many people are out $$$ because of non refundable hotel rooms. I can't believe how many people were so sucky about having to travel 1 hour up north, that the event got moved. They could have at least moved it to Downsview, which is still accessible for all the whiny brats. This really does suck...

Moby's Area 2 festival a couple of years ago at MA had a DJ tent set up outside in the parking lot and you could come and go with relative ease albeit there was a 5 minute walk. But with the CNE on, they may want the parking lot for parking.

Those that were going to be camping at Burl's Creek can get a refund and a hotel in town for less than their camping fee.

If your ticket says Burl's Creek, keep it. It will get you GA or assigned 200 seats. They obviously sold less for the festival in Barrie than what the 100 & 200 sections hold. There will be a line-up where they will give you a wristband for GA or a new ticket for a seat. There will be a ticket for every seat not sold through the new sale. It won't be a mad rush for 200 level tickets as they will probably be handed out sequentially. And there won't be more Burl's Creek tickets than what those two sections can hold.

At edgefest they had a couple stages and it worked out ok... the other stages suck anyway lol

08/17/09 9:57 AM

I'm pretty sure the 200s will be assigned seating. Otherwise there will be fights like crazy. Only the floor is GA. And even if you have a floor seat u wont have to sit through a bunch of shit cuz no one will be there lol... I'm gonna back for OLP unfortunately and try to get a good spot for NIN (if im in GA) if I'm in the 200s i'll just be back for NIN lol and kick the person out of my seat.

Anyone know anything about the camera, video, recording policy for this show? Is it open like the last tour?

08/17/09 4:42 PM

Is anyone planning to go early on SUNDAY to exchange the BURLS creek tickets?

08/17/09 4:46 PM

what time are you guys gonna be going down there to pick up your general admission wristbands.

technically the june show was the "last ever show in canada"....

funny, it's only been billed that since the move to drive tickets too.

08/17/09 5:35 PM

it will be so difficult to get a good seat, and if you get one holding it would be even worse since the seats are unassigned for L200 peeps

I'm also quite curious about this. I'm really hoping to get some HD video of the band as I took some when they were last here June 2nd and everyone seemed to enjoy it. I don't want to bring my DSLR only to have it sit in my car for 12 hours in the ungodly heat.

08/17/09 7:24 PM

if anyone has an extra ticket for just sunday that they will sell me - PM me. I got my ticket before this change, but one of my friends was going to come with me but hadn't bought her ticket yet - since normally you can buy them up until the day of the event - and I think if she buys one now she'll be segrated to section 400/lawns and we don't want to be separated.

08/17/09 7:26 PM

I'm surprised at the venue change so close to the day of the show.... The Amphitheatre is a great venue, though i've never been there for a festival, so i'm not sure what that would be like. With the CNE going on at the time, parking and crowds will be worse than ever, so be prepared!

08/17/09 8:23 PM

Well FUCK friends, now FutureShop online is sold out, should've just fucking gone for it. Don't know what I'm gonna do now, I guess maybe just go to FanExpo with my brothers like I'd planned... because I'm sure as hell not going to a 2-day festival in nosebleed seats. Or is there such thing as a worthwhile non-GA festival setup?

Again, FUCK.

Any idea if we'll have to pick up floor wristbands on both days, or if they'll give us a weekend pass on Saturday?

Amphitheatre is a great show venue, but for festivals, I'm not sure. I went to Rock the Bells and it was just so sterile - nowhere to go and nothing to do but sit quietly in your seats until the headliners came on. No vendors, no mingling, crappy food options (ie pizza or... pizza?). It'll still be a blast, regardless, but that's not to say there weren't better options.

I had 200s for the June NIN show and they were awesome... been to some other shows in the 400s and they're definitely an improvement over lawns in terms of sightlines, but between the two choices lawns are where the fun is. There you can stretch out, lay down, and get comfortably drunk in the sun...

I'm pretty sure each day is considered an independent event, so should you have a burls ticket for both days, one would have to arrive early for both saturday and sunday in order to acquire a GA wrist band. That does suck for anyone in that situation - especially if you plan on getting fucked up saturday night. I'm only planing on making it to the show sunday and will be in line probably around 11ish. Two hours before the venue opens should be enough, right? If they really had such a hard time selling tickets, how many of us could there be willing to sit through it all? It's not like we're going to have another M&G.....

Actually, I'm not so sure that would be early enough. I asked Virgin Mobile on Twitter when the wristbands would be handed out, and they said it would commence at 10. But yes, both days are independent, so wristbands will be handed out both days. Also, is it confirmed that the merchandise tables will be at the CNE?

Yeah i heard about that timing as well. I really don't want to see one person hogging seats for 5 of his/her buddies who will show up at 8pm throughout the whole show.

08/18/09 11:31 AM

im gonna be there at 10 am. get my wirstband than go chill around the cne and ontario place until nine inch nails is about to perform.

08/18/09 11:37 AM

Listening to nails since 1990 and never seen them live due to one thing or another. Easily they've been the soundtrack of my life, and now I just got my tix...Yee-fakin-ha!

08/18/09 2:58 PM

I suspect I will see the familiar faces from the Wave Goodbye show at the MA. = )

Not sure how i feel about this concert, will be so different after the last one, meeting TR and all (standing on the same stage even...unreal) and almost didn't get tix just b/c I wanted that last memory to be 'it'. But naturally there was no way I could not go (stuck in the 400s).

If i see any OLP fans sitting on their asses in better seats than me I may have to shoot them with a pig District 9 style.

Well I just decided to go to this. It's about a 18 hour drive for me, and I have serious doubts about how good this whole thing is going to be since it doesn't seem very well organized. I just hope NIN puts on a good show, no matter how bush league this whole thing seems to be.

I'm going to be stuck in the 400's though. Anyone been there before? Are 400 level seats even worth going for?

Yup. pretty small venue and the 400s are still good enough to see the show (look up the MA on live nation and you can access a 3-D map view from your seat number).

I actually like OLP. Granted, I'm Canadian, so I don't know if I had much choice in the matter, but they're decent. Or were decent, new album isn't great. I wouldn't go to Toronto just to see them but I'm happy they're going to be playing, so they'll be at least one other band I can enjoy to some extend while I'm waiting for NIN.

But that reminded me of when I went to Toronto to see NIN last Summer. I'm about 10 feet away from the stage and the guy next to me looks to be tagging along on with a couple...He's decked out in his American Eagle gear (I have a bit of it myself, so I'm not judging, just not you're typical NIN fan attire), and trying as hard as he can to get into the music but he just had no idea of any of the songs. It was fun watching him try to figure out the beat to the songs and dance to it, always being a few seconds behind.

I'm stuck in the 400's to. I just decided to go. It's an 18 hour drive for me, I'd just seen them last summer, my seats arn't going to be great, I'm not looking forward to the drive there, or back, I have to cut a trip home to visit my family short a couple of days, I can't totally afford to go and should probably save my money for other things, and up until a few days ago it just didn't make sense for me to go at all...then I threw on a bootleg from a show a couple of weeks ago in the car and just got so into it, and realized that this is it...for all the reasons I have to not go this time, there's not going to be a next time, so I might as well just do it. I'll get home and be a bit behind on some bills, but it'll all work out in the end and I can say that I saw NIN one last time...I'm not sure if Trent's going to go as all out for this one as he'll likely do for the other final shows due to it being a "festival", and a poorly run one at that, but I'll know as I'm watching that I'm seeing the end of something that's been majorly important to me since 1995...It's fitting that I be there.
