I thought the way they did Ghosts was really good. i didn't expect it, but i thought it was really pretty.

11/02/08 12:35 AM

I was amazed how long nin was on stage playing. I don't know how they can play for that long.

u know i was thinking that, they dont need an intermission! They must really be in shape, plus they had lots of water on stage!

11/02/08 12:40 AM

yeah I was getting hoarse singing along with them. I don't know how tr does it.

They kept throwing their water bottles out to the crowd.

11/02/08 12:48 AM

yeah my voice wasnt too good today. How do they not hurt their voices like that? i think its amazing he can go that long and still be strong in the end.

I drove 10 hours to Nashville. I'm telling you this to give you some perspective. 3 hours is nothing.

(edited out part about not wanting to meet the band, completely beside the point)

Don't assume you know anything about my perspective.

They are amazing. I don't see how they don't have to be carried off the stage after that performance.

I think he had to use his voice more during Terrible lie and March of the Pigs, they seem like they take alot of vocal action. He did it very very well.

They hurt my voice. Terrible lie he had the guitars help with the chorus. Still totally amazed. They are awesome.

I had an amazing time. Like some others I was a little disappointed in the setlist, but it's all good. I was incredibly happy just to be at my first NIN concert ever.

The technical mishaps didn't bother me, I loved the music. I noticed how pissed Trent was since I was on the rail by Robin, but it turned out to be a good thing because he put a lot of that anger into the performance. March of the Pigs was crazy.

I loved Robin's mask! hahaha excellent.

About 3/4 into the show, Robin took a swig of one of his water bottles and I knew he was going to throw it. I was right in front of him and got his attention, he looked directly at me and tossed it into my waiting hands. Now I know it's just a water bottle, but a souvenir is a souvenir, okay? We had a moment, too. Shut up haha.

Sucks about the laser pointer asshole, I hope he got throat AND kidney-punched.

I'll be posting pics and short vids soon, watch out!

Later!

This show was incredible. I'm glad they played the Great Destroyer and Big Come Down. The visuals were top notch. After seeing 3 of their shows, I have to say they're the best live act out there now. They care more about their fans than a lot of other bands.

Lots of bands will just play the songs. So whats the point of a concert. NIN puts on a show. They could make so much money if they just showed up and played. It must be so hard to rig all that stuff up and have it all working. My hats off to them. That was such a great show.

Edit: Nice videos!

LOL, that's me-- and i'm a girl. i was the short kid with buzzed red hair, whose nose bled in the fanclub line, hahaha. hilarious. i'm glad i've got permanent memories of that night! i wish i were taller, so you wouldn't have to see the bald dude's head in all of my shots!

this was only my second NIN show [lack of money and car troubles have prevented me from going to any others besides the knoxville show, and i had to work 10/31/05] and i was absolutely blown away. i've never seen anything better. i'm glad that the crowd around me was more interested in the music, rather than in violence. clearly NIN show-goers are of two different breeds. as for myself, i am of the breed of NIN fans who tear up during Ghosts. sheer beauty.

side note: i brought my 17-year-old kid sister to see her Very First Concert. she enjoyed it even more than i did, and i've been obsessed with NIN since i was 11 [13 years ago.]

How does a 2dollar laser screw up a multi million dollar light show? Nashville once again proves its unequaled douchebaggery. Comparing to St. louis show, differt setlist was cool.
The Big Comedown is the greatest live song ever witnessed by me. The dual curve effects are more convincing from a far off angle. The echoplex is a instrument not preprogrammed light effect. Ghosts screens are more effective straight on. The sommet center is a shithole in need of a paintjob. The band performance is A-1. I found Health to be intriging, much as i found a place to bury strangers. I wonder if early audiences found nin as confounding in its early days, nah those were puppy fans!!!!!!!!! Pre sale section seating was strange as a whole section was pre sale, instead of the best seats from several sections. How is it that every concert i attend, the absolute best seats are always occupied by late middle aged couples you wouldnt think would go there? The soundboard guy and his bevy of dancing girls was very entertaining! Thanks anyway Trent but i'll make up my own mind who to vote for. GW transforming into JM was cheap and easy.
I'm no fan of either one, but i get enough politics on tv this time of year. Lots of pre-teens @ the show, which must have been accompaning there parents as nin doesnt usually appear in tigerbeat. Thanks Trent for a great show, hope you enjoy my 60 bucks as much as i enjoyed spending it!!!!!!!Peace---now go vote pinheads!!!!

Ah, quite sorry about that. I went back and fourth in the post debating to put "him" or "her", 50-50 shot... I failed =(.

But yeah, great stuff, I've been reliving the moments. Thanks!

She was a couple of rows up from me. I agree that she did good job with it.

And as for the flubs in the light show...I think the glitches like that just make the show all the more unique.

My bellywarmer's reaction to the first of the Ghosts songs: "Hey, isn't that the song we wake up to every morning?" (Ghosts is the best way to wake up in the morning, after all.)

Iam so glad they played "The big come down" they didnt play it in lexington. Man, that was crazy when that dessert screen came up for ghosts, and then the other one, it was like a forrest or something. Man, I really hope NIN come back to nashville again. I dont know about everyone else, but I have NO complaints. My only complaint is, I wish I could afford to see them again

I thought the show was great (my 12th in total)! I was right in front of Trent for the entire show. I've never been on the baracade before & it was awesome! What a great way end the tour for me. I thought the guys in the band seemed very energetic. It was great that Robin wore a mask for a little while. I don't know how he could breathe in that thing though (besides the obvious nose holes). They all seemed to be having a good time. Justin appeared to feel better than he did at Voodoo, cool. As for any lighting problems, so what. Shit happens. Everything can't be perfect all the time. The lights were still unique compared to anything any other band would do. Trent's a genious but he can't make all the electrical stuff perfect 100% of the time.

As for the crowd. I couldn't see what anyone behind me was doing, but it felt like they were moving around a lot. I had to put my knees on the baracade because I kept getting pushed so hard into the baracade. I hate going to a show where the crowd sucks. I feel bad for the band & I'm embarrassed to be apart of the crowd. Hopefully NIN knows we all enjoyed the show & appreciate that they came to Nashville...which still amazes me.

On another note, I learned that being a respectful, trustworthy person/fan doesn't get you anywhere. Not even a final msg saying "thanks, but no thanks". Disappointing, but it doesn't make me less of a fan. Life goes on!

Walking away completely mindblown is inevitable, regardless.

We didn't get the pleasure of 'The Big Comedown' in Lex, so I and the guy beside of me figured that the absence of the swinging lights setup was indicative that it would not be included. Thank you for that nice surprise! The excitment of those first few notes was absolutely insane and completely compensated for the lack of both 'The Wretched' and 'Reptile'.

I love 5 Ghosts I. I really do, but I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed for 1 Ghosts I or 32 Ghosts IV in Columbus. Please, guys?

My only gripe is that although I arrived early enough to do so, I did not enter the costume competition (I was American McGee's Alice in the presale line) and I'm punching myself for not getting the name of the awesome guy whom sat next to me in 106, JJ. I fail at life.

Oh, and seeing Rob, Leo, and Robin in costume made me giggle like a five year old and made the world a better place.

I just hope that they come back. To me the show was great. I cant really be that disappointed by NIN. Unless they just played one song and left I would be satisfied and the screnes were awesome.. Every show gets better and better..

11/02/08 12:57 PM

I am betting the preteens there were raised on nin. The only reason I didn't bring my oldest is because of money.

11/02/08 1:07 PM

I've been a NIN fan for years and it has always been a dream of mine see them play. I finally got a chance to the other night, and it was by far the best show that I have ever been to (front right, floor). The only thing that could have made it better in my opinion is if they had played "The Great Below". I kept waiting to hear it, but it never happened. To hear that live has to be quite an experience.

So, NIN put up a picture of a dessert menu or something? And after that, a picture of Nathan Bedford Forrest? Odd. =P

Ok, this is sickening...retarded even. This is my first post since the show...wanted to see what people thought of it. I shouldn't have even logged on. Only got to pg 3/6 listed...why all the bitching, complaining, fighting? Jeezus people, really!

My thoughts will be scattered throughout as it comes to me so please bear w/me.

First, I read that the tech dude is ok...rad. Secondly, yes...FUCK THAT LASER POINTER GUY!!! Asshole! HEALTH was ok...it was experimental noise rock. If you don't get it, go buy a $9 beer & wait for NIN. Trent brings out openers that HE deems worthy of a shot at exposure cuz obviously HE'S a fan of whoever he takes out. So shut the fuck up. I thought Deerhunter sucked in Knoxville but didnt rag them out completely (I don't think). Trent must see something in them. To those who think they're owed a photo op or unplanned meet/greet...get your heads outta your asses. They got places to go. And Trent, Rob, or any of them don't drive the bus so if they don't stop, unload the bus, and give you a private sidewalk performance, fuck it. I've been a fan since the BEGINNING - yes, kids, WAY before "Closer" - saw them only 5x ('94, '05, '06, '08x2) and never met ANY of the lineups. So? Some people here think that since they have every Halo, seen every show ever played, and clear out the merch tables, that they are bigger fans. Please. It's all in the spirit of the music. And the setlist...the man has a shit ton of material out there. He cant just keep adding on to a previous list w/every new release. Sure, there's several songs I'd love to have heard but they didn't play them. Guess what? I enjoyed every song that WAS played. It is a privelige seeing them AGAIN on Halloween. Wish the crowd was more into it. I do hope the TN crowds don't deter NIN from returning soon. Halloween '05 & Knox '06 were seemingly better crowds. And maybe if people acted right, more bands would play TN, meaning more exposure to shit for some of these sheltered rednecks who might then stop going to shows they don't belong at just for "something to do". Make sense? Didn't think so. Anyway, we are all fans here - for the most part - so we should stop bitching about the stupid shit and get out there and find the Laserfag and burn out his retinas.

I know this is scattered...hope some smartasses don't wanna pick shit w/me over my opinions.

Trent, Robin, Alessandro, Josh, and Justin...KICK ASS GIG!!! Thank you very much.

amazing show, great night.. i loved it.

i was in a green shirt that said "reading prevents brain rot", my girl had on a princess peach costume.. the other 10 people with me were pretty close by.

no pics/vids, i am normally the person at local shows behind the camera, but i decided to leave all that stuff behind and just be me that night.

2nd NIN show for me, the other was in '05 at the tabernacle.

i have got to figure out how to build one of those screens. i must.
