Trent.

Fucking THANK YOU. That show more than made up for any postponement. Was my wife's first NIN show. She was very happy. The set list was great. The stage show was fucking wow. ZAM. I've been to many NIN shows and this was my favorite so far. THANKS A BUNCH!

11/25/08 11:26 PM

I wanted to start this thread! sad smiley

But I had a blast tonight! I'll have lots of photos to upload soon.

Setlist ne1?

The Wretched
Down In It
Reptile

'nough said.

Well, that and my I fucking had to switch memory cards for my crapy digital video camera in the middle of Down In It. So I will be posting a video for that with a message in the middle explaining the sad scenario.

It was a minor dissapointment that "Me, I'm Not" was not played. But visually it's not all that different from "The Warning".

I'd post some pictures and video but my mom wants me to go to sleep soon 'cause we're going to the zoo tommorow (saying that makes me feel a bit like a child in a 24-year-old's body).

Also, I'm not sure if she's on these forums but the gal who was sitting next to me complimented me on this like mexican "Day of the Dead" bead band that I had around my right wrist. I just got it from the arcade at the Mall of America earlier that day. lol

I was also the guy who scream "Thank you Trent!" when they started playing "The Wretched".

Okay so maybe The Wretched Down In It Reptile was not enough said for me. It was pretty sweet to be staying at the Radisson just a couple blocks away from the Venue. Met a couple dudes in the elevator who were also at the show.

Anyway, gotta wrap this up now, copy and paste it to Echoing the Sound and then turn in for the night.

I'll be able post some of my stuff tommorow morning, hopefully.

11/25/08 10:49 PM

That was an amazing show - my ears are still ringing (which I took a few advil for, of course)!

Thanks Trent, band & crew for the wonderful music and show!

11/25/08 10:52 PM

Fucking battery on our camera crapped out - so only thing I got in full was the apology and closer. got snips of everything else in what preliminarily looks like pretty good quality. Reptile totally fried my chicken if you get what I mean (and if you don't I mean it was badass). Josh was awesome as usual. Hope the new guy's got his chops up, Josh is a tough act to follow. And Thanks again to Trent. Only way it could have been better would be a meet & greet. But this was definitely a great first show for my wife.

11/25/08 11:08 PM

I can't believe they played Reptile. Holy Bejezzus I screamed my ass off when I heard it start. And that was the loudest Head Like a Hole I've ever heard. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, beats that song live!!! The energy was off the chart.

11/26/08 12:18 AM

Tonight's show was just amazing! The Big Come Down and Reptile? Holy shit! I almost creamed my pants! However, I was secretly hoping for Me, I'm Not, but it's cool. I really appreciated the encore, that more than made up for the postponement. smiling smiley

Josh will for sure be missed! He is such a badass!

Pretty much all I can think of as of yet. I'm still on that euphoric high and my ears are still ringing!

P.S. Did anyone notice during Survivalism that there were people having sex in the bathroom on the video screen? Me and friends had a good laugh at that one! smiling smiley

11/25/08 11:18 PM

Fucking awesome!!!!

Thank you NIN, light and sound crew, and the road crew for bringing this beast of burden to the twin-shitties!

The crowd was awesome too! It was my first time on the floor at the Target Center. The place looked much smaller from down there... No worries though, crazy dials were set to max.

But a special thanks to all you crazy bastards in the pit! You know who you fuckers are!

Peace out NIN-ers!!

oh my god. those cameras they were using for closer, with trent singing to the camera. that was phenomenal.

i was against the barricade. my friend's face was on one of the cameras, and i punched him in the head. haha.

wish we got to hear the hand that feeds and something i can never have, but i can't complain much after an incredible show.

I don't think it was possible to miss that! Haha.

11/25/08 11:54 PM

The Setlist posted looks right to me, only corrections I might add would be before he played The Frail, he played the first part of La Mer then transitioned into The Frail, and I think Trent was playing Lights in The Sky when everybody was taking their final bows at the end of the show, no lyrics just the music. I could be wrong though.

Awesome show from top to bottom, better than the last NIN show in the Twin Cities on 10-11-05. It was so cool hearing Josh play those old songs like Down In It and Piggy. Ironically during Piggy, the cops came and escorted some guy in the row behind mine out of the arena. Not sure what he was doing lol.

Oh yeah, Boris kicked ass. maybe a little too much distortion, but I know that's their thing. I'm glad the crowd was at least receptive to them. I've heard the crowds at some of the other shows were pretty brutal for them.

11/26/08 1:24 AM

I loved Boris! Their music seemed kinda trippy and I like it. I especially liked the gong. I think every band should have a gong.

11/26/08 12:27 AM

I would agree on Boris, definitely a surprise. They did alright.

As for the big show, really amazing. Very well put together, visuals were unforgettable, and everyone was on top of their game.

Thanks to the crew, the band, and Trent for making everything worth while.

P.S. The young girl in front of me got to keep Trent's tambourine after everybody left the arena, and she let me touch it!! Oh, we were both so giddy!

11/26/08 1:45 AM

Yeah that was pretty awesome. I got tons and tons of video footage, even though, a particular security guard made it clear to me that I was not allowed to take videos. I clearly took them anyway. And I am soo glad that I did. Those pre-sale seats were great.

11/26/08 1:48 AM

My 9th NIN show and hands down the best one ever! Had the best spot in the venue along with Leo. I want to thank the big dude who protected all us girls front and center, it made the show so much more enjoyable for us, sorry again for scratching you (i did think you were trying to push us off the rail at first) Also, Asia Security is fucking awesome, they did a great job and made sure I got a set list at the end. Will have pics after I get some sleep.

11/26/08 12:51 AM

THE MOST AMAZING SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! the visuals were absolutely amazing!!!! I got one of Robin Finks water bottles!!! i was right in the front row and it was fucking amazing!!!

1. I didn't see you at the show! I would have said hello to you.

2. I didn't get a clear view of the bathroom sexytime because Trent was blocking my view.

11/26/08 1:05 AM

I was secretly hoping for "Vessel", but honestly, I'm completely satisfied with the set list we got. The light show was amazing, the performances were inspired, and if that's the kind of show we get after a 4-month postponement, feel free to postpone anytime.

I hope the band had as great a time as I did. That would only be justice. I know Minneapolis in late November isn't anybody's idea of a dream visit (although the weather behaved admirably for this time of year), but thank you for coming back, and thank you for giving us your A+ game. Wow. I've been to several NIN shows, but tonight's really, really raised the bar.

I totally missed the bathroom thing. Robin Finck was blocking *my* view. That's okay, though. After the 8 kajillion-candlepower lighting on the stage, I was surprised I could see anything.

11/26/08 1:22 AM

Really good show. Despite being a Nine Inch Nails fan for almost nine years (hey, I was only 14 at the time), it was my first live experience aside from the live DVDs and Closure. Really awesome stuff. "In This Twilight" was THE BEST song to finish the whole thing. Loved the Blade Runner-esque city skyline.

I wonder how many people still don't know that "Down in It" is copied beat-by-beat and guitar-cue-by-guitar-cue from Skinny Puppy's "Dig It", ha ha. Still an awesome tune, though.

Thanks to Trent and co. for the great show and for the apology, which didn't have to be given, but it made me smile. :] Boris opening totally made up for the postponement. It's just too bad that a bunch of the rowdy idiots around me didn't take too kindly to their music, and shouted a lot of nasty comments.

For anyone interested, Boris is playing in Minneapolis again, this Friday at the Triple Rock.

O.K.- great show obviously. I definitely was NOT expecting Down In It!!! I have nothing to add to the greatness of the show that's been already said. My first problem is my ears are NOT ringing- I guess that's what I get for sitting in 136. tongue sticking out smiley

Only minor quibbles was no LED sticks during TBCD (not the biggest of deals), and what the fuck happened to The Hand That Feeds? Also- Target Center may want to ask for their millions of dollars back regarding the "acoustic upgrades". It didn't sound bad, didn't sound great- I wouldn't have noticed a difference either way. Also, can someone clear up for me the visuals for "Terrible Lie"? I swear there was no real time feedback to the LED screens during the song as there normally is, but maybe it was just the angle I was at.

With all that being said- WOW!!! for the crowd. The place was freaking packed!!! I was thinking a lot less of a show up and glad I was completely wrong!

11/26/08 2:35 AM

Here's a little sneak preview of the photos I got. I took over 200, and I'd say about half of them are decent enough to share. They'll all be watermarked, edited, and adjusted. But this one was great in its raw state:

I completely forgot to mention how awesome it was to see Finck playing in the lineup live again. He's always been my favorite guitar player from any lineup. There's a bit in AATCHB where he does this spiderlike shimmy (fucked if I can remember what song right now) and it always gets me, it just seems so perfect. He's got this great attitude on stage.

Now if only we could get Vrenna back on drums someday.

Regardless, Finck rocked.

And Leo, that's a great freakin pic.

As Theo already said, she and I had the best spots in the entire venue: we were on the barricade, in the center, right in front of Trent. And the bouncers were told to generally stay clear of the center but move in if need be. So we had a largely unobstructed view of the show.

11/26/08 2:43 AM

Remarkable concert.

The setlist was perfect imo. Had a good mix of everything, new and old. Head Down and In this Twilight were two songs that I really wanted to hear from the new albums, and they played them both! Cluuutch.

I did not expect Down in it and Reptile though, WOW! That reptile performance was the best I've seen anywhere. The Wretched was amazing as well.

This was worth the wait Trent!

my son & i just got home from the mpls show (had to drive 4 hours north).

what a stunning concert - the best i've ever been to (and i've seen a lot, cuz i'm really old)! trent's the most talented artist i've ever seen! he actually apologized for having to postpone our show (originally 02aug) because he was sick - amazing professionalism!

and what an IMPRESSIVE performance tonight! trent & the band overwhelmed our senses with energy & tension; just when we thought it couldn't get any more intense - they ramped it up some more! and we were treated to no less than 30 songs - more than two hours! incredible!

this was my son's first concert (he's 16) - afterwards, I asked him what he thought of the experience. he said, "mom, i LOVED it!"

thank you thank you thank you - trent & the band & the crew - for a memorable night!!!

11/26/08 5:15 AM

This was originally supposed to be the night before my flight left for Mexico to get married, which would have been awesome.
It was still a great show though. I have only had the pleasure of seeing nin a few times and this was easily my favorite. I opted with seats instead of floor tickets this time and am definitely happy I got to chill and watch all the cool stuff happening instead of the back of someone's head because I'm too short!
