THAT WAS THE SHIT! WOOOOOT! 3 1/2 hours of pure music heaven! THANK YOU TRENT and the BAND! YOU GUYS ROCKED! smileys with beer

We are not worthy.

Most amazing experience ever.

Thank you to everyone that brought a moment of unfuckingbelievable to Rapid.

Is there anyone here that went to the show in Red Rocks AND Rapid City? I live in Spearfish SD, (30 minute drive from RC) and made the trip in September to RR (9 hour drive) and it blew my mind. I can't tell you how friggen annoyed I was after the RC show. Thank GOD the tickets went "on sale" for 5 days for $20, or I'd be pissed. The crowd on the floor was lame. The only time they looked alive was during the "basics": HLAH, Closer, Terrible Lie. Smallest mosh pit ever. The only people that were "surfing" were the ones people picked up to throw out. I had reserved seats. OVER HALF my section was sitting, no-one was singing, except me and my hunny (and one other guy in front that I think was trippin on somethin, lol). This was a disappointment as well until I looked across the arena and saw the WHOLE WEST SIDE sitting... like for the WHOLE show! WTF??? These things, of course, are not Trents fault, so let's move on to what he COULD control:
1.) They played Echoplex - awesome. I wish they'da played that at RR
2.) They didn't play: Me, I'm Not; Vessel; (two of my favs) God Given; or Capital G
I was soooo mad. Vessel is such a good song and the lights they have for it are bad @$$. (YouTube it)
It was a good show. I had a good time. I had good seats, though nothing compares to row 6 center at Red Rocks. I love NIN, and will prolly see them again. Just needed to get this out!
Love you guys!

This show was GREAT!! One of the better shows I have seen! I had a blast on the rail and the band seemed really into it! I loved Terrible Lie that close, granted it’s always one of my favorites!!! AWESOME job NIN!

Can’t wait to see you later tonight in Billings!!

11/29/08 10:36 AM

Now that the thread is finally up…and I am.

WOW! That was an adventure!! I even made it through the whole show on the rail!!! (I was going for, at least, four songs.) I loved how close we were to the band and we got “DOWN IN IT!” The ten hour wait was well worth it and I met some nice people along the way. It took a moment to adjust, but was a blast once the guy behind me stopped trying to break my leg…honestly did you really think that I would just let you twist my leg up and then smash it into the barricade without retaliation? *angel halo* I’m slightly disappointed that we don’t have GA to anymore shows, but I’ll have to make sure to go GA the next time around for one show or so! It was fun!!

The band was AWESOME!! Thanks guys!!! I don’t know which songs I liked the most this time around. The set list was amazing, the longest I think I have seen. “Terrible Lie” was great, like always, and “Only” was cool that close up…They were all great! As for whether or not it came close to Red Rocks. I loved both of the concerts. From where I was, in Rapid City, the energy was great and it seemed that a lot of people were way into it. All of the concerts I have been to have been wonderful in there own way.

Now onto Billings!!!

11/29/08 9:46 AM

I wish I could go to Billings! I manage a restaurant so getting a Friday night off is hard enough... oh well.

I just think my brain was just waiting for Vessel and when it didn't hear it... I got a lil' cranky. Also, just a thought. I think Hurt should be nixed and Zero Sum should take it's place. I think it'd be awesome to hear everyone singing that.

Is it so bad that some people like to listen to the music and not just push and shove during the entire concert? Granted, that doesn't control the people who were in the stands. There is not a doubt in my mind that everyone was blown away in GA. Yes, that rhymes.

Not so bad at all! My sister was on the floor and she loved it! I'm almost 28 years old, and I'm not saying I'm "old" but I have no urge to mosh at all! (sorry, I think I got taken the wrong way) This is why I got seats instead of floor tickets. I like to watch and listen... but there's a difference between that and just standing there. (or sitting) There was no moshing allowed in Morrison... and you really couldn't because it's 100% staduim... but that didn't take away from the crowd "energy". I dunno. I suppose it's hard to "feel" the energy of the GA from way up there.

Hell of a show. Stage show got better and better throughout the show. SOund was good. Crowd wasnt as big as they deserve. Watch a HD concert and was blown away by stage show. Just as good live.

I did but I am not able to transcribe or photograph it yet. I also shot them again last night and should start having pictures up in the gallery within a few days.

Great show AGAIN. words cannot describe.

I also survived the rail- and it was well worth it; seeing the stage show and all of the work that goes into each song is amazing. Even though the intoxicated youth made a strong showing, I would like to thank Trent and the band for an amazing show- well worth my 13 hour round-trip drive from Denver! Trent, you are truly pioneering the path that lies where technology and music synchronize into one powerful experience. You are going where no one has gone before. Being on the rail, I was able to watch and be amazed at the number of homemade computer-module synthesizers you had, and at the walls of LED lights that interact with you creating a 3-dimesional sound experience. Amazing. Thank you for stirring my soul and putting fire in my spirit. You are truly a music god!

I traveled out to SD to see the show and was completely AMAZED. Well worth the trip. I was right in front of Trent, behind a girl on the rail, the closest I could have been, when they let us on the floor all the presale people had already taken the rail. Other than trying to look past her arm at times, it was a great spot. Trent and crew were incredible! The energy, the precision, the sheer genius of Trent was apparent as I watched in AWE at the music god at work. Trent you are perfect! Keep up the great work! Anyone considering seeing a show, get off your ass and buy a ticket, you won't be disappointed! : o )

I have never been to a NIN show so I am unable to compare it to others but I can say that this was undoubtedly the most amazing concert I've ever seen. I didn't expect to ever hear the songs that were played. This is the set list I made on my ipod:

999,999
1,000,000
Letting You
Discipline
March of the Pigs
Head Down
The Frail
The Wretched
Closer
Pinion
Wish
Gave Up
The Warning
The Great Destroyer
5 Ghosts I
17 Ghosts II
19 Ghosts III
Piggy
The Greater Good
Terrible Lie
Survivalism
31 Ghosts IV
Only
Down In It
Head Like A Hole
Echoplex
Reptile
The Good Soldier
Hurt
In This Twilight

I'm unsure if any of these are typically played but I didn't think I would get to hear much from Pretty Hate Machine. I didn't think I would be able to handle being against the rail the entire time but I managed to stay up there and be fine. My heart was pounding when the lights went out and I knew in a few moments I would be staring Trent Reznor in the eyes for the first time. I've been a fan and waiting for this moment since I was five years old and it was the best night of my life! The light show was excellent and Trent was using a special camera that made his face show up in the lights which most resembled his only appearance in the video for "Only". Of course no concert is perfect and there were a few things that really irritated me. The drunks and the youth always seem to ruin concerts. Drunk people just act like total retards and say the kinds of things that ruin all those special moments during songs. People talked during all the ghosts songs and during hurt which made me want to murder every one of the fuckers. Seeing hurt live was such an amazing and emotional moment and then the bitch behind me yells "I wanna fuck you!!! yeah!!!" I've never wanted a gun more in my life! I don't have a problem with younger people but you can't be a big fan when you just discovered the band yesterday or are only there because you were bored or your friends wanted you to tag along. I was one of the tallest people there and being up front meant of course there were people punching the shit out of me the whole show trying to get me to move as if i was only there to make sure they had a great time and not because it was one of the life long dreams.
My other issues with the show have nothing to do with the band but with their crew. Those guys were the biggest fucking assholes I have ever met in my life! I work at the venue and had to deal with these douchebags all day long. I do catering for the bands at the concerts in rapid city so im in charge of preparing food for the dressing rooms and such. The NIN roadies were such dicks that I wouldn't even deal with the food that day and every other worker complained about how cruel they were. One said to me "just cook this and get out of my face!" so I just started setting up for the concert the rest of the day for the sole reason of the opportunity of being able to meet Mr. Reznor which I've dreamed almost my entire life. Once the man of the hour got there they said that nobody was allowed anywhere near the dressing rooms without a pass! The only person besides the roadies who had one of these passes was a fifteen year old girl who tried to win on the radio just for fun. She wasn't even a nails fan and the only people she took with her was her family who got to sit down and have dinner with Trent and hang out for like an hour. It was the biggest crock of shit since george w. bush got elected president! I've been a fan longer than that girl has been alive! After that I left work to go to a pre party where I was told the band might show up at but only a few people even came. Luckily I had pre sale tickets so me and some friends were allowed to get into the show a bit early. We went through the doors and were told to wait on a staircase for half an hour before we could get in. My friend wanted to have a cigarette so we went down another staircase and went out started walking toward the employee smoke area. Out of nowhere a flock of those fucking roadies jumped on us like flies on shit and booted us out of the building saying we werent allowed to be there! We had to walk all the way around the building and go back in the front and wait in line all over again only to be told that we wouldnt be allowed to see the concert since our tickets had already been marked and torn!!!!! My fucking god man we almost didnt even get to see the show!!! Luckily since I work there I called my boss and had him sneak us back into the venue but we had to hide from all the security guards who were still watching out for us like we were there to fucking assassinate Trent or something. After all that we still managed to get front center on the rail so it wasnt all bad but give me a fucking break man we arent terrorists, in fact, we were some of the biggest fans at the show cause we've all loved Trent since the early nineties. After the show some people managed to wander backstage where they were told they would get to meet the band but they all just left instead so nobody met anyone. I don't mean to bitch and moan, I'm just upset because it seemed like it was my only chance to meet my favorite musician and it didn't work out any of the three times I tried. Trent arrived in town on Thanksgiving and hung out at a bar downtown where a friend of mine works but she wasnt allowed to tell anyone he was there so he wouldnt get bothered so it was such a middle finger in the face to me to have so many chances to meet him but it just never worked out. Even after all the bullshit it was still the best fucking show of my life and im not going to let it be the last.

11/30/08 11:32 PM

Best concert I've been to in my life! Went with my father, who's almost 50 years old and a huge classic rock fan (AC/DC, George Thorogood, etc), and he was real impressed. Glad he went with me instead of friends who blew me off. They would've went had I said it was Toby Keith showing up with a Ford truck stuffed up his ass, but oh well. Their loss. Hilarious and surreal when Trent said something along the lines of "God said let there be smoke. And a LOT of fucking smoke!". My father thought he was talking about the pot smoke...which brings me to 1 complaint about this. If you're going to smoke that shit, please do it BEFORE the concert or something. I have friends who smoke and don't care that they do it, but other people are breathing that shit in. People who don't want it in their systems. So have some courtesy, especially with kiddies around.

Overall, Thank you Trent, Alessandro, Justin, Robin, and Josh for comming to Rapid City. You brought way too much fucking awesome there that night.

The End.

PS: Thanks to those of you who posted the setlist!

It was a great concert, that big green cloud of smoke for Reptile was awesome! We ended up with very poor seats, I'm not sure that the Civic Center should have sold tickets that far to the side, you really couldn't see the whole screens. But as my daughter pointed out, we got to see stuff that nobody else did.

Now, next time - play in Sioux Falls!

12/03/08 9:24 AM

I went to both the Denver show and the Rapid City show and both were awesome. I drove from Denver to see them in SD and it was worth the speeding ticket and all. I didn't like the Bug in SD, that weird reggae was hard to listen to and I think the DJ was good but the singer made me sick. Oh yea and I smoked alot of pot all over that place, if you don't like it then go outside or better yet why don't you complain about all the people that were smoking nasty cigeretts? This is a fucking NIN concert and nobody except Trent himself could make me stop smoking pot.

12/03/08 12:14 PM

Yes, I enjoyed that a lot. LIKE A HELL OF A LOT!! THAT SHIT WAS FUCKIN AMAZING!
My god the only word i can describe the whole show is beautiful, I've been a fan for awhile, now not as long as some people here but still i love NIN's music and trent is by far one of the greatest musicians of the century, but right now i'm just thanking god that they came to rapid my hometown, that made me feel great, that trent would take the time to do a show for all of us freaks caught out here in bumfuck midwest.
Only criticism i have is that they didnt play a few of my fav. songs, or even The Hand that feeds. that was a disappointment, but still i cried during Hurt and i'm happy.
Defintely have to see another one now!

12/03/08 5:04 PM

I love this show so much and I loved waiting out with some of you inside on the smallest pre-sale line ever.

roarbitz and arden410 - I'm so glad you guys made it through the show isn't rail fun!?

I loved so much seeing The Good Soldier again. I'm glad that song has been played a lot. And did you see TR drop his lil stick only to catch it just in time with out missing a beat while still playing his tambourine? He's amazing! Ghost 17 has grown so much on me too. Oh damn that was a fantastic show!!!!

12/03/08 5:23 PM

i managed to go to red rocks and rapid city, i live in casper wy a 4 hour drive to both. And i must say both were amazing, these were my first two nine inch nails concerts and i dont even know what to say. And to top it all of at the rapid city show trent was in the crowd during the bug. I turned around to say something to my friend and he was jsut standing like 3 feet behind me. He had a gray hoody pulled over his head and kept looking down at his phone, i assume to avoid eye contact with anyone. I shit my pants. did anyone else see him besides me?

12/04/08 1:39 AM

Can't emphasize how great this show was. The Bug was...interesting. Tough to understand why even chemically altered people didn't like it...That DJ was pretty good.

I always wondered why after nearly 15 years, NIN never came back to Sioux Falls. They would have a much larger crowd, and they may very well sell out the Arena. I think they were kicked out because they brought Manson all those years ago. Just a rumor.

04/15/09 7:40 AM

most amazing experience of my life! I was right in front of Robin on the rail. Got a lost of bruises and wanted to kill a few people, but just ignored them and focused on the music. I hope NIN comes back!
