The show was absolutely fantastic, setlist was orgasmic (Reptile and The Wretched in ONE show!), Trent's voice was great tonight, he was absolutely WILD, visuals were damned near perfect...

A Place to Bury Strangers was god-awful.

The crowd was respectful and amazing. Gotta love near sell-outs in a massive arena.

He didn't talk a lot, but whatever.

Head Like a Hole had SOOOO much energy tonight. Weird.

I'm copying my post from ETS here:

That was fucking incredible. My expectations were very very high, but I still had no idea it would be that good. Great setlist, mind-blowing production, and the band was on fire. Trent was dead on about this being the best lineup of the band yet - with the combined talent in this incarnation, plus all the different instruments they're carting around this tour, it seems like the possibilities are endless. Josh in particular (as usual) was beyond awesome, especially on Piggy and Ghosts 19. Trent's voice was excellent from beginning to end - glad to see he seems to have gotten over whatever it was that affected him at the previous shows.

There were a few dickheads on the floor, and everyone around me decided that the Ghosts section would be the perfect time to have loud conversations, but other than that everything was perfect.

Who were the couple that turned around and stood dead still staring into the camera at the soundboard during Survivalism? They did that for the entire song, and it was a bit creepy, but pretty damn funny also.

Oh yeah, A Place To Bury Strangers weren't that bad at all - they reminded me of a slightly heavier version of BRMC.

A few of their songs reminded me of a neo-joy division sound.

Excellent show!

I do wish people would not try to talk over the ghosts music, but then i realize that it *is* a concert and that's bound to happen. Also, that guy that yelled "i love hanson" during hurt and clapped through much of the ghost sequence... well he mysteriously disappeared last night*. (*i wish that were the case) =)

I was very happen to see the vessel performance, and I found myself quite in awe of the twilight finale.

Thank you so much, man! The show was fantastic, y'all WERE ON FIRE! I don't care if you were shy, Reptile was played and I left a happy person! By the way, the Ghosts tracks were awesome tonight.

Great show. Far better than other shows I've been to this year.

And I'm really happy that most of the people around me knew the Ghosts stuff. I didn't have a lot of the loud convos that I see a lot of you did. It was refreshing.

I'm really happy with that night altogether. Again, great show! Thanks Reznor & Co!

The setlist was exactly what I was hoping for (sans Down In It) and everything about the show was spectacular. Trent's performance was top notch and his voice never faltered, even though he said he was feeling ill. I was so ecstatic to hear The Frail + The Wretched and Reptile. Also, it was nice to see the crowd be relatively quiet during Hurt.

The Ghosts segment was amazing, but it was sad to see so many people talking and moving around during it.

A Place to Bury Strangers was awesome. I'm familiar with their stuff so their show was enjoyable for me. The only complaint was the extreme length of the use of strobe lighting at the end. It was really cool for a bit but dragged on too long and started to wear my eyes out.

For those who aren't familiar with them, I can see how it might have been a "terrible" show. It wasn't by any means. You not liking the style =/= bad band/show.

Copied from my ETS post...

I almost had a heart attack when they played Reptile as I'd been praying to hear it. Same goes for The Wretched & Big Come Down. Like everyone else has said, amazingly good show. I managed the far right of the rail & had a great view of Finck, who is the fucking MAN. I'm so glad he's back in the band; just an absolutely incredible guitar player. The sound & overall production was awesome, the set list, everything. Trent's voice sounded good & he looked like he was enjoying himself (& evidently he did from his posting above). I didn't have any trouble with the crowd & the security was some of the coolest I have ever encountered at a show. We made friends & they totally looked out for me. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

On a side note, I caught a couple of glimpses of Trent just off the stage on the right, talking to various press people. I also bumped into Rob Sheridan a couple of times & briefly chatted about the new beta forums, etc. He apologized he couldn't shake my hand since both of his were full, heh. Really nice guy. I can't freaking wait for Dallas!

THANKS GUYS FOR AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE.

I was there last night and yes it was amazing! I've been listening to Trent's work since PHM, which I was preteen back then and I've always wanted to see nin live. Finally I've gotten the chance and it was everything I thought it could be. To start off we bought tickets late and ended up with the worst seats, but when we got there they had moved us down to some kick ass seats because they closed the section down that we were supposed to be in, which was awesome! The light show was one of the best I've ever seen(over tool and other bands I've seen). I've seen similar light shows on some live videos of nin but this one was amazing. The transparent screens blew my mind. I couldn't even imagine experiencing the band on psychadelic substances. As what everyone else has been saying, the wretched and reptile was mind blowing, loved the green lighting to accent the mood of Reptile. I was a little disapointed that the Great Below and We're in this Together wasn't played, but with musical genious Trent and all the great work he's made the past 20 years there is just too much to fit every song in one show. I was very impressed with the stamina of Trent and crew, you can definately see just how dedicated they are to their music and performance. He didn't talk much, this is true, but I think it was because he didn't want to waste time, and wanted fit in as much music as he could in the set. Trent was like a machine, he just keep rockin over and over nonstop. I think the fact that 75% of every song played had almost the entire arena singing along brought an awesome vibe to the show. I was also very happy that 99% of the crowd was respectful during Hurt, although there was a few douchebags who wouldn't shut their mouths at certain times.

I do have a question, does anyone know what that instrumental was towards the end of the set. It was guitar heavy with a slower grinding beat. The lighting was a mid surreal blue that engulfed the set. I thought it was wicked and was wondering what it was, the name or where I can find the song. That was the only music the entire night that I haven't/didn't know what it was.

Anyways, thanks for coming to Houston, best of luck with the rest of the tour. I'll be counting the days till the return, you can bet your ass I'll be there.

It was Ghosts 31, and it was amazing.

I also forgot to add that in my 34 years, after going to hundreds of shows, I've never seen a cooler exit from the stage than the way they did last night. Kudos for that, a perfect way to end an excellent show.

This show surpassed all my expectation. The performance, sound, set list, and harmony with the crowd were all awesome. Of course theres always a few assholes in the crowd. The slower songs like ghosts and the greater good gave me a very close feeling with the band. Of course the harder songs were just as exciting, I got to crowd surf for head like a hole. The over all variety of the songs they played was stunning, It seemed like most of the crowd didn't know what to think. When Trent said, "I'm feeling kinda shy tonight." I thought that was funny. The part when the stage lit up like a sun and then shattered was my favorite visual, but there was some shit that just made you say "God damned that's fucking awesome!" Made me wonder how that stuff works, like when he shined the flashlight on the screen. Great energy on stage, time hasn't slowed them down one bit. I think ill invest in a voodoo ticket just to see if they can top this show.

Thank you for a wonderful show.

The Wretched, Reptile, The Big Comedown...I can get hit by a truck now. Except maybe not until after tomorrow night.

The sound was impeccable. The visuals were terrific. The band was ON.

Excellent time had by all.

I REALLY like A Place To Bury Strangers. Congratulations to Trent for continuing to pick opening band winners.

Awsome show.

I must admit I was a little leary about going to a show at an arena. I generally prefer the smaller more personable venues but Houston rocked. I had a total blast.

The visuals, the crowd, the energy, it was all great. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

The show made my entire trip! It was totally worth the small fortune I paid to get there! I couldn’t even sleep the night before the show, because I was too afraid I would wake up to a text message on NIN.com, unlike the usual photo messages, saying that the show was canceled. I almost had a heart attack when I saw a message pop up. Luckily, it was the announcement about the newest performance dates and not announcing a postponement. Now I want to go to the Las Vegas date too.

The show was awesome! I can’t decide which song and stage visual was my favorite. I liked them all! If I had to pick I would have to say that I loved what was done with Only, The Big Come Down and the Warning. I know that isn’t really picking... but what can I say... I liked them all. I think that these visuals stuck out in my mind the most because I hadn’t heard about them before the show, but the other ones were just as cool. I hope that the Survivalism camera is pointed our direction at the next show. It will probably be the only chance I have to be on one since I’m not willing to brave the pit. xD Though don’t get me wrong I could fight with the best of them for the tambourine! Throw it fourth row center, at Red Rocks, baby!!! I’ll even practice my leaping skills!

Can’t wait for the Red Rocks and SLC (or well West Valley)!!! The show was awesome!!!

Great show! Thanks TR & Co.

After that show, I wanted to take off work and go to Dallas... Wow, that was by far the most impressive overall concert I have experienced. I'm speechless.

there are a few pics from the show at the end of this set.
enjoy

great energy from the crowd, everyone around me was singing everyword along with me.

beautiful closing.

the show was amazing! I have not had that much fun in years, thanks! We were right up in front of Robin. During Only I got up to the rail for the rest of the show which was so awesome & I didn't have to stand on my toes anymore : )

The Frail was so beautiful I almost cried, thanks TR. oh, also In this twilight & hurt. The visuals were awesome & like everyone else, I was excited to hear the Wretched, Reptile & finally some live Year Zero!

Definetly worth the drive from San Antonio. For some reason I've been limping for 2 days now lol, I don't know what happened, maybe pulled something. That's a first for me. See you guys in SA in October, can't wait!!

Even though I HATE Houston traffic and weather, the show was amazing.
I was sad that I had a seat, but I got to enjoy the visuals more.
This and the Seattle show are my top fav NIN show's I've been to. smiling smiley

08/19/08 10:22 PM

This was a kick ass show!!! I had a seat even though I wanted pit, but I dealt with it. I was excited to see Reptile live at a show. The only time I've seen Reptile live was during a soundcheck in Austin, TX in 2006. That was AMAZING.

[EDIT]: I may have missed this, but can someone point me out to the set list for this show??
