well...what an awesome day
on my way to this show i got a flat tire about 20 miles away from the ampitheatre....
i thought i wasnt going to make it, but i did and boy am i glad i did.
very very good set list. very good show.
and also met some nice people in a Piolet Arby's afterwards and talked for a few mins about the show...it was fun.

Got home a couple of hours and still amped at the spectacular show. It's no surprise that NIN kicked ass. They always do. I really liked the set list. Very different. My worries about the daylight taking away from the lightshow were ill-founded. Trent has these super bright as hell lamps that are a blast(especially with all the dry ice reflecting it). I was at pit and was in heaven. Never missed seeing Trent live in South Florida except for that music festival, but I was never that close. Was too busy moshing before. grinning smiley

Great vibe amongst the pit fans and plenty of people got footage. I hope to see them post it up. I was the chick with the short curly dark brown hair, black glasses and black NineInchDick shirt right at the gate in between Trent and Robin. I took a couple of videos with my cheap camera. Nothing special and I was distracted with the show itself so there's not much. I will post them up when I get a chance.

SSSC And Jane's were also a blast. Tom Morello. Nuff fucken said right there. Will definitely be picking up SSSC's new cd.

I hope all of the younger NIN fans now understand now why Trent gave JA the later set; and why it would have been stupid as hell to leave early and miss the show they put own. The visuals were fantastic. It was like traveling back in time seeing the original JA back together. Eric looked aggro but happy. Perry had such a beautiful energy as always. I just love the hippy Jane's vibe.

Oh by the way, for those who don't Twitter and were wondering why Trent stormed off the stage without an encore: (copy and paste from Trent's tweet some hours ago)

"NIN/JA temper tantrum #1 thrown tonight in celebration of the PA being turned off for our encore, ruining an otherwise good set."

So that's why...

Hey guys-

This will likely be my last explanation of this, so feel free to post this around wherever.

Regarding the NIN/JA tour:
It was my idea, decision and job to convince all parties (from my own band to Janes') to play before JA. Here is why. We've become tired of the "formal", very structured LITS - type production and way of presenting the band. The idea of walking onstage as the sun is about to set and play a bunch of unexpected material that's exciting for us to play without the bogged-down, flashy production appeals to me. You get to see us in a way you haven't before. Yes, it's different. Yes, the set lists will amaze some and bum-out many others. Everyone had ample opportunities to see LITS, and that era is over. We play our set leading you into the evening bathed in only white light in a physically tight setup, then Jane's come out in full color and openness. The challenge for us is greater, the set feels much riskier (especially with the challenging flow of the set lists I'm making) and that makes it exciting and valid for us.
The NIN/JA tour is generally geared more towards the hardcore NIN fan. We're not trying to play the greatest hits - we've done that over and over. Don't expect the same shit every night - that's why I relaxed the camera / recording policy. You'll likely be able to find what you want out there somewhere, from wherever. I'm treating these last shows as individual, finite, precious events that I'm sure will result in some polarization of your responses.

See you out there.

Hey Trent - GROW UP. I have no problem with the set list or the performance. TIGHT! But, no encore... That's a crime. Have them fix the PA... wait as long as you have to. WE would have waited for you! We were short changed in West Palm Beach.

Amazing !! What a tight, awesome show NIN and JA put on ( and SSSC ) !!! We were thrilled to be there and thankful for the excellent seats and camera policy . We enjoyed the show more than words can describe.

I am truly sad that this is the last tour for TR and the boys - but happy we got a chance to see them play such a great set. Could have listened for hours - felt like it went much too fast !!! Got some good pics to remember the night...

Thanks Trent for the memories...

Wow. What can you really say but "wow"? The Setlist was fucking awesome. The band was awesome. The show was fucking awesome. TR and the rest of the guys and showed us once again that they can play anything. I would have been so pissed if I had missed last nights show. I was right between Trent and Justin. Had a good view of Ilan, he won't disappoint you (unless you are the hard-core "Josh Freese is a god, never can be replaced" type).

Pics just uploaded to the computer. So, yall should see them eventually. It was cool to meet/see some of yall again.

Hands down, the best concert I have ever been to. The tight-knitted community that I met while sitting in the GA presale line was incredible by itself, absolutely no backstabbing or turncoats for spots in the line.

Pretty normal pit show, but otherwise, I am the guy who won "Call the Burly Man An Asshole" competition, and I (not surprisingly) almost got beaten and thrown out before the show started. I took it as a playful challenge, I separated myself from everyone else and asked where others weren't looking. I found him, I flipped out, I got quite nervous (and shook a little, it's one of my life goals to shake Trent's hand and nothing more). Two "aftershow" passes, one for me, one for my friend.

What was REALLY REALLY awesome, is that these (as I was told by the brutish venue security afterwards) were for after NIN's set and BEFORE JA's set, and we were unaware of this. We were told "after the show" by NIN's security lead (the redheaded dude, you've seen him before), which, in most instances, would be interpreted as after the show ended, i.e. 11 PM. But no, since Trent stormed off (I don't blame him) we were left high and dry outside the aftershow. Maybe the passes were intended for the 11 PM-aftershow, but without NIN there to verify we were "in," we couldn't do much without getting kicked out. What's funny is that we were told by the venue security that the band left before JA even finished, when, our awesome, sympathetic helpers Miss_Hazy & her friend, were reply twittered by JMJ that they were just leaving then.

A coincidental trainwreck and stiff-armed outside the aftershow, a total buzzkill (not literally, I don't drink), but, like I said before, the best concert I have ever seen. Just to go through the motions of getting a backstage pass is incredible, goes along the lines of "better to have loved than lost than never loved at all." Some compensation would be nice, but I've heard that those gears are already turning, and I am remaining optimistic.

If I feel up to it later, I'll post a long, verbose, personal recap of this show, much like what I did for 10/28/08 Orlando.

To all of you ungrateful people who are whining and bitching because you didn't get what you expected: STFU. Seriously. Enjoy the experience and be happy you were alive to have it. If you just wanted to hear Closer and Hurt, you should have stayed home and listened to the fucking radio. Or gone to see any of the other million shows they have done. (Like the last tour in Florida that was only in October, less than a year ago)

This was likely the last concert I will be able to go to, before I die.

And, you know what? I'm thrilled that it was this one. SSSC was great, NIN was incredible and they had a totally unique setlist. We got to see them do "I'm Afraid of Americans" for fucks sake. How awesome is that? So they wanted to change shit up a little for their last tour? So something fucked up and they didn't get to do an encore? So you didn't like the band order or lighting? Shit happens. Enjoy what you get, because life is short.

To NIN (and everyone else involved in making last night happen)Thank you for your effort and devotion to the fans over the last 20 years and than you for giving me a last concert experience I will cherish. I'd like to think most of us are not ungrateful assholes. Everyone I saw was having an awesome time last night.

Real quick, the show was excellent. See it as many times as you can. I travelled a loooooooong way to see this show. I plan to see at least three more shows and now I'm thinking about ways to up that.

I love it that Trent can confidently change things up completely from what NIN has done for past tours. LITS was fucking amazing. And so is Wave Goodbye.

Oh, and what is it you're supposed to do when your boner won't go down after 12 hours?

I'll write some more after I get some medical treatment or something...

05/09/09 8:12 AM

Wow am I sunburnt!

I was concerned that the crowd would vaporize for the JA set. (And... really concerned after the number of people in the pit who refused to believe nin.com "regulars" when we told them NIN was going on before JA.)

*Phew*

Not sure how it was for the rest of the venue, but the pit was fuller, and more rowdy, for JA. (I had room to dance at the rail during NIN's set, and not as much during JA).

The management of the combined presale lines, however, left a lot to be desired.

The JA presale window opened 30+ minute after the NIN presale. Luckily, the day-long line folks respected and retained the line-order for the JA presale ticket-holders.

Also, sunburn. Outside the gate, we had umbrellas and portable shade. Once past the gate, we had very little shade and were lined up for more than an hour, in the sun. This, well, sucked.

If the only shade is in the actual venue seats, please please please let us sit there, even if during the soundchecks, even if way in back.

I was really expecting to spend the entire night miserable after that. It speaks volumes that I managed to forget just how fried I was and enjoy the show.

I might have to try harder to get passes on twitter, simply in the hopes they might get me access to shade before the show starts. Not today though, I have to get to Tampa. (o:

Trent,

The show was super duper in my pooper. The only thing missing is I got this wave goodbye poster and there's no signatures from the band on it! I know, right?

Seriously, can I this thing signed? I'll mail you my signature in return! Please please please?

...had an amazing time at the West Palm Beach show last night. the set up...the setlist...everything was so unexpected. IN A GOOD WAY.

I remember hearing my first Nine Inch Nails song at the ripe YOUNG age of 12, and i was hooked. That was FIFTEEN YEARS ago, so this show was absolutely perfect for the long time fan.

After reading TR's post in this forum this morning ... I jumped online to see if there were still tickets available for tonight's show in Tampa. Needless to say...I will be making an unexpected four hour road trip tonight to see the show again. AMAZING. THANK YOU to TR and NIN showing others what a rock band and a rock show should be! can't wait to see it all over again tonight in Tampa.

This show was incredible. I was in pit behind this group of girls and a boy with red rolled up jeans, in front of Trent. SSSC was really impressive, NIN had an amazing set list, and JA had such a fun performance. I had to sit down at the back of the pit throughout JA though. Drunk idiots were throwing punches and spilling beer all over the place.

I was also sitting next to someone with blond hair and I'm sure she posts her. She had a NIN guitar pick necklace.

Everything about the show was pretty much epic besides the lack of an encore by NIN, but after the concert was over I felt more than satisfied. Thank you Trent and the rest for such a great night!

My girlfriend and I loved every minute, from the time SSSS stepped up on stage to the time when JA stepped off. My only grip is the no Encore from NIN, which of course wasn't his fault, so I hold no grudges.

Bottom line: Next to seeing Boston before Brad Delp died, this is tied at best concert I've been to. AFI is up there too (you can flame me for that, but I'm a 90's AFI fan and I don't really care what you have to say about it).

OK - Stephen King once wrote a line for one of his charecters in Storm of the Century - which has stuck with me through out the years. This may be the proper place to share it:

"Repetition is Hell"

Trent looks to be embarking on a new path - with that - we get to experience new set lists. Lets go with it - and enjoy it!

See you in NY & NJ next smiling smiley

This was my first major concert where well known bands would be playing. So for someone who's used to local and small venues, it was a whole new experience fo me. Unfortunatley the seats I bought tickets for were on the left, 2nd level of seating in the amphitheater which made me feel close yet oh so far from NiN.

This is a picture from my iphone of where I was seated:
http://i40.tinypic.com/zx8dpe.jpg

SET LIST:
The first songs played I wasn't familiar with as I'm not an avid fan of NiN but do enjoy some of their popular works.
1."Home"
2."Somewhat Damaged"
3."Last"
While the last 3 songs played I was waiting to hear the opening drum beats to this next song and that's when I started getting riled up.
4."March Of The Pigs"
NiN then goes on to play
5."Piggy (Nothing Can Stop Me Now)"
Which I was surprised they would play.
And then there was a cover song of Gary Numan's
6."Metal"
They should have covered "Cars" I would have had a good laugh.
Then the opening for Heresy began and the crowd chanted along to the chorus of:
"Your God is dead, and no one cares. If there is a hell, I'll see you there."
7."Heresy"
8."The Becoming"
NiN then announced a new song and how it reminds them a little of themselves. And they began playing David Bowie's
9."I'm Afraid Of Americans"
10."Mr. Self Destruct"
I just recently learned of this song from a digg article of live NiN HD footage. And was familiar with the whole act from the lights in the sky tour.
11."Burn"
12."The Fragile"
13."Gone, Still"
With the crowd chanting and screaming it sounded just as good as the track on the album.
14."Right Where It Belongs"
15."The Way Out Is Through"
The last three songs ended the show and fans were still jumping out of their seats and having a blast. Wish seemed like the crowd favorite though.
16."Wish"
17."Survivalism"
18."The Hand That Feeds"
19."Head Like A Hole"

Sadly some asshole shut off the PA on NiN... Which completely ruined an encore of fans chanting Nine Inch Nails, Nine Inch Nails after the band just walks off stage and disapears without saying goodnight. If that hadn't happened the show would have been a perfect opening show for a goodbye tour. It's a dissapointment to the band, fans and even listeners like me.

So my question to you Trent, if you really are watching winking smiley
What would have been the encore song, and what would you leave your fans with as a final goodbye to the expected hiatus?
