I can't agree more with what you have said! I throughly enjoyed this show and it was so worth the trip to Austin. I was in the Pit and was jumping around, screaming, and had a smile on my face the whole frickin' time. I guess there are rules and regulations on how you are to act at a NIN concert for you to be able to "connect" with TR.

damn, and now he tweeted (or whatever the fuck it is) about how much he connected for the arizona show. DAMNIT! i do appreciate the honesty, i wouldn't want him to edit himself for our feelings. but damn, it really feels shitty to think that we were like the downer show for him. i loved it! i've loved austin shows way more than houston/s.a./dallas shows (the last erwin show is my absolute #1 - canNOT beat him jumping into the crowd during Piggy, stubbs would prob be #2). looking at the pics posted for the other shows, i don't know how our show is even supposed to compare to those HUGE ASS out door arenas w/ the jumbotrons and shit. this show was simply not the same as the rest on this tour so far.
talking to us would have been nice, jumping into the crowd would have been real fucking nice, but even w/o that it was an amazing experience!

HEY ALL!!! Sorry it has taken me so long, but I FINALLY ripped the videos off of my camera and uploaded them to Youtube. I think they look pretty good, and they sound fantastic given the equipment used (Cannon ZR760). I'm apologizing right now for the drunk lady sitting next to me, she would not shut her mouth, but I did get 13 out of the 20 songs played by NIN, and two songs by SS. Without further ado:

Head Like a Hole

The Way Out is Through

The Hand That Feeds

The Fragile

The Becoming

Survivalism

Piggy

Lights in the Sky

La Mer

I Do Not Want This

Heresy (Not Full)

Gave Up

Dead Souls

Street Sweeper - Paper Planes

Street Sweeper - Nobody Moves 'Till We Say Go

Please please comment on my videos, or leave me a message. It was my first time filming a concert, so I want to know how you think they turned out!

You know, me and my friends were wondering what was up with the crowd at this show. At first I entertained the thought of mass quaalude usage, but then I remembered. We were in Austin. Possibly one of the most braindead cities I've ever been in. No disrespect to native Austinites, but seriously every show I've ever seen there has been a bit lacking in the energy department. You really can't expect much from an Austin crowd at a rock show. Better to go to Dallas, you get the response you want.

Also, I had to roll my eyes at this:

I know you probably did this as a 'respect' thing. Yes, he's said that time and time again. There's not probably.

in reality, it might be disrespectful to them because about a third of the crowd leaves after NIN is done playing.

People leave. Point being? The vast majority of those who leave do so to use the restroom, buy drinks, etc. They come back.

It'll be a joyous day for the world when you get over yourself.

Get a clue, bro-ham. That other guy had a strong point and you're just butthurt. GTFO pls, thx.

Whoa man. The show was so amazing.

The vibe was a little strange, mostly the audience anyways. But what an amazing, bittersweet night. I can't believe this is their last tour. And the set list was pretty well put together, especially all the rarities. Although I really wanted to hear "We're in This Together", "Right Where It Belongs" and perhaps "Into the Void". But I was really pleased that they played so many songs from Broken and the few from Pretty Hate Machine.

Mr Self Destruct (Holy crap, when Trent came out screaming, that was super powerful, great way to start the show.)
Sin (Great performance. Wish I was on the floor, the Arena wasn't so hoppin', but I was pretty close and was having a blast.)
Terrible Lie (Sweet lord, that was amazing.)
March of the Pigs (Just as powerful as the last time I saw them play this live.)
Heresy (I was totally thrown for a loop. I never though they'd play this live!)
The Becoming (Oh man. One of the best songs of the night.)
Piggy (Nothing Can Stop Me Now)
Not So Pretty Now (This was a great way to get everyone going, especially those who downloaded the EP Sampler).
Survivalism (This was much better live than the recorded version.)
Gave Up (Never thought I'd hear this live either. Was a pleasant surprise.)
La Mer (So beautiful).
The Fragile (Almost brought me to tears when Trent slammed down the mic. Wow man.)
Gone, Still
The Way Out Is Through (I was a bit thrown off by this one, and half expected them to play Into The Void afterwards, but was still beautiful none the less).
Wish (Screamed my head off. Damn.)
I Do Not Want This (Another one of the best all night. Powerful.)
Lights in the Sky (So fucking beautiful, added great contrast to the last song and was so great)
Dead Souls
The Hand That Feeds ( I admire that the played a song that everyone could sing along to, but I figured they would've played it sooner, either way, it was pretty good).
Head Like a Hole (Interesting choice for the end of the show, but I felt that it really added to the conclusion.)

It was really strange though, because you could tell who was there to see Jane's Addiction, and who was there to see NIN. So that added to the weird vibe, I think. I personally felt caught in the middle because I was there to see both (mostly NIN though). SSSC really started off the whole night really well I enjoyed their performance quite a bit. NIN, as I've said was awesome. But I feel sort of bad because by the time Jane's Addiction came out I was so exhausted from NIN that I couldn't get into it as much.

Overall, I loved the show. It was super enthralling and intense, especially NIN's show despite the weird vibe. I wish it would've been at a different venue, maybe outdoors, but I was still really into it. I'm so grateful I was at this show and that I got to hear them play one last time. This was my second time seeing NIN live, and I loved the difference in approach for this tour. The lighting was interesting and really fitting.

From a hardcore fan, Thank You all so much for such a great night. Best wishes for the rest of the tour and congrats on your engagement Trent!

And BLACKRAGE, I know the majority of NIN fans can really relate to what your saying about the pain of the lyrics and being able to connect to them, I know I definitely can. I also agree with you, NirvRush. The last show at FEC was really great as well, but I'm having trouble deciding which was better. I do wish that TR had talked to the audience more etc. I feel bad that our show was sort of a downer for him too. I really hope that maybe in a couple of years they will go back on tour.

Not going to lie, this was my first (and I pray not my last) NIN show. I hope that doesn't make me any less of a fan, because I absolutely love all that they do. Imagine what it feels like to hear Trent not feeling satisfied with how he played at your first AND last show! I know Trent tried his best, and I could definitely see him playing the shit out of the FEC, and I loved it. This was the best concert I've ever been to, and I hope it's not the last time I see them. *Wink* *Wink* Trent.

First of all, the show was FUCKING AMAZING, thank you. I've been a fan for about 15 years and this was my first NIN concert and I loved it. Don't sweat the lame crowd. I've been to a Smashing Pumpkins concert at the FEC back in 2000 or 2001 and the crowd sucked ass then so it wasn't you. Just seems the fans out here need a M80 up their ass.

One final note,
GOD IS DEAD AND NO ONE CARES,
IF THERE IS A HELL,
I'LL SEE YOU THERE

Massive Hairy Danglys for that!!!! Holy shit, I loved it! Thank you!!!

Gotta agree. The only shows I've seen in Austin were this show, AFI like 5 or 6 years ago and SXSW in Austin a few years back. For AFI the crowd was crazy, but it was at La Zona Rosa which is a small venue. This show and most of the shows I saw at SXSW there was almost no energy from the crowd. Kind of a weird vibe.
Either way, I loved the show and all the bands. I think more people go to see Jane's than people on this site make it seem. Before I went I was expecting people to leave for Jane's or something by what people were saying on here, not the case. The place def didn't empty out at all.

Oh, and I LOVED the setlist. I think there were a lot of casual fans there that didn't really know some of the songs though. Whatever, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Aaaaaand... my flickr. Includes two short vids for not so pretty now and gave up.

05/19/09 2:54 AM

Hmmmm... Time to think about what this show has meant.

I was in the baby pit during the show. People were "moshing" but it was the juvenille"Im going to run into all the people along the walls of the pit rather than those in it. I eneded up, as i usually do at concerts, going to the front of the pit and helping up those that fall and sheilding people that are trying to get up. I was wearing a dewey cox walkhard shirt and kept telling other 6+ people like myself to let those vertically challenged in front of us. I was moving the whole time singing along and throwing elbows behind me to keep the "pit"posers in check.

I enjoyed all of the set, though not so pretty i would have traded ina second for metal or the day the whole world went away(dont really care for the lyrics or composition of NSPN, seemed rather bland in comparison to the rest of the setlist just my personal opinion). Im wondering if ill ever get to see those played or the fabeled TPD(we can wish cant we).

Replaying the night in my head, listening to the concert on my headphones, and watching the videos, I still can't find what didnt make the magic pan out for trent or some of the rest of the audience, like it did for me. I had a blast and everyone around me seemed to aswell. But a huge factor is it was a JA headlining show, and many people from texas traveled here to see them. I mean there have been many shows for NIN in texas in the last year, and only the hardcore fans really know that this is prolly the last NIN tour. There were almost the same amount of people in the ga when perry n crew took the stage, if not more, people were just not as sardined into the closer area(no pun intended). I loved sssc and this was the 7th time to see NIN, but Jane's Addiction deservedly stole the show. I hope Avery stays with them for awhile so they might make a new record(second wish). To see this band live was a wonderful present helped to fruition by trent.

Its also hard to imagine this being it. I guess I have to travel to one of these huge festivals in other lands before it is over. I have to say thanks for all the fish to you Trent. Ive grown up listening to your music, and have overcome the death of friends and family with some of your lyrics and music hitting close to the core of those feelings. Alot of time it helps to feel that empathy that we are not alone in our growth as humans, as Im sure it was catharic to express your struggle with your art. I can only express gratitude and hope you well on the rest of your journey whether it be shared openly, or through the memories all this experience has given us. 20 years is along time and it only seems like yesterday PHM came blazing out, full of that creative emotional bravery to be so open and vulnerable, while still kicking in the teeth of conformity. Thanks for a great show last tuesday and all the work youve produced. Here's to you for staying true and allowing us in to that glimpse few people feel comfortable enough in sharing of themselves.

I chiefed in the Austin 360 Tower before the show just to make it a little more interesting, got to the arena at 9:00, Will Call was already closed, and my friends called and told me I already missed NIN so I was like "Shit." At least 95% of the concerts I've ever been to, the main act didn't start until about 9:30...oh well, if I hadn't have seen NIN twice already I'd be really pissed, but it's all good. Good thing you posted those vids up there.

As aforementioned, I was nearly in tears when Nine Inch Nails performed "The Fragile." Verily, it was a dream come true to listen to it live. I could not have arranged a better set list. Every moment of Nine inch Nails' performance was spectacularly visceral. My limbs did not stop swaying to the rhythm nor did I stop singing along with Trent--perhaps to the dismay of those around me. Unfortunately, I was up in the stands but the experience was amazing nonetheless. The Austin show may not have been up to par with Trent's expectations but I am not offended. I know I enjoyed the concert and my energy never dwindled. I want to relive that performance time and time again. Thank you, Trent. Thank you, Nine Inch Nails.
