Good show, though I wish I had ended my run of shows with SB. My seats in 101 dd were amazing. Major thanks to NINfreak7 for those!

damn my back hurts. One thing I'll never understand--fat guys rushing the stage to try and touch perry. Awkward!

Big ups to nin for sticking around throughout the 300 person m&g. Going backstage should make you feel good because you donated to charity. Other than that, I'd rather watch the show. winking smiley

What else. Oh. Trent. Watch that mic cord next time. Got more wrapped up than all the women fawning after Dave

Great show. Took 3GB worth of photos. Will post a link to the gallery tomorrow or Sinday (depending on how long it takes me to go through them / process them) for all to enjoy.

Epic.

Home, The Becoming, The Way Out is Through. Could not have asked for anything else.

Really gonna miss you guys. Thanks for all the great shows!

Whoops! I thought it looked a little weird. I always confuse those two. Thanks... ill fix if my phone will let me.

Was a fantastic show, though I was stunned when NIN went on before JA. I'm not sure if that's how it's been for the rest of the tour or if they're switching or anything, but...I don't know. Spot on NIN versus drunken frontman JA.

Burn was amazing. I've seen it performed twice previously, but this time it just blew me away. And yeah ^, loved the Fragile bits that got thrown in there. I wish we would hear more of it!

AWESOME show. I loved it. My buddy and I were on the lawn at the top of the hill. Beautiful view. Great energy (except for the assholes that were talking through most of the set)
I spent most of the time watching the show from my camera (got a better zoom then I could see with my own eyes)

6th time seeing NIN. "Metal", "The Becoming", and "The Way Out Is Through" were 3 firsts for me.

And although I've heard it live already, I would of LOVED to see the show closed out with "In This Twilight". Perfect venue for that song.

Thank you for all the great shows, Trent. Enjoy your much deserved break.
And have a happy honeymoon.

Amazing show. Thought Lights in the Sky was awesome- last night's show was unbelievable. Other than one douche bag who tried to start shit in Row D Section 204, obviously NOT holding a ticket in that section- most everyone else around me was having a great time, and too busy enjoying the music to want to ruin the fun.

Of course, a couple idiots decided to fight during Jane's Addiction. Maybe, Perry Farrell's voice annoyed them to the point of violence, I don't know. Okay, I'll shut up about Ja now.

05/23/09 2:21 AM

Metal. This is only the fourth time I have seen NIN, but have never heard that one played before. Gary Numan cover? Brilliant!

05/23/09 2:25 AM

WTF is up with that pic of Bill Gates? Microsoft is based up in Seattle ... shoulda used a pic of Steve Jobs instead.

Thanks to the NIN.com pre-sale for amazing seats. Picking up the tix was a breeze, plus the special entrance was nice since the regular line was hella long.

Trent and band put on a great show. Was nice to have a stripped down performance, with a focus on the music ... kinda reminded me of the Warfield shows during With Teeth.

The lineup for the evening was stellar ... definitely threw me back to the 90s, with fond memories of the first Lollapalooza. Jane's Addiction put on a great show with Perry referencing San Francisco and Bill Graham a few times. They even ended the show with a bit of 'Ripple' by the Grateful Dead before launching into Jane Says. Perry doesn't seem to be able to hit the high notes anymore though.

I've seen NIN about a dozen times, starting back in Cleveland in 1990 when he opened up separate shows for The Jesus & Mary Chain & Peter Murphy at the Phantasy Theater. If tonight is the last show I ever see of NIN, it definitely ended on a positive note.

Trent, thanks for a great evening.

Another amazing show. Kinda makes me sad that it will be a week before I can catch another one. I hate having seats but it isn't something to make the show any less great.

Thanks TR for making my trip to the west coast so freaking awesome.

Burn- that make's two I've never heard live. And yes, it was amazing. Hopefully, one day Trent will decide to revisit all his great NIN material. Still, looking forward to anything creative he decides to do...just hope it's not painting or a TV sitcom.

my friend and i just got back from the show. we did that whole $1,000 donation thing and i've got to say it was worth absolutely every penny. the experience was incredible! i highly recommend it. you really get to roam around freely backstage and it's so interesting to see the show from such a different angle. i loved looking out at the crowd and seeing all the excitement. everybody was super sweet to us and wanted to make sure we had a good time. oh, and robin finck is one of the sweetest men alive.

trent, thank you so much for such an incredible evening. it was more than we could have hoped for.

PHENOMENAL!!! Tonights show was hands down the best performance I've ever seen NIN give. Sure it wasn't as technical as LITS, or as wild as some of their older shows, but musically I think this has to rank as one of their best performances.

You know how when a band records a concert to put out on DVD, and you're watching it wondering how amazing it would have been to be there for the taping. That is exactly what it felt like tonight. It almost didn't seem real, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The setlist was amazing, the improvisation was fantastic, and the energy they showed tonight was unlike anything I've seen. Trent has given 100% at every show I've been to, but tonight's performance...I don't know...it was on a whole other level.

This may be the last time I see them, but what a note to go out on!

05/23/09 8:00 AM

Thanks NIN for a great night. I've been to every northern Cal show since 1990 and once again, I am tired, sore, my throat hurts, any my eyes burn. Totally worth it. Metal live was amazing. Other than all the people talking, and ruining most of the songs...(WHY DO PEOPLE DO THAT????!!!!!!!!PLEASE PEOPLE, if you want to have a conversation, GO TO F'N STARBUCKS!!!!)it was still the best high you can get naturally. Trent, if this is really it, I will miss you.

I will never understand why people spend money for a show and talk all the way thru it!!! We were so annoyed by the people in front of us, acting like they were at a bar, or their living room, and the 2 guys directly behind us, who never stopped talking all the way thru NIN, that we had to leave. It seems to me that folks think NIN is in town every nite, the way they behave. The same thing happened in Sac..yak, yak, yak...screaming at the appropriate parts of the song...stupid!!!! I waited 20 years to see JA and we just couldn't stomach the idiocy...so sadly, with a broken heart, we left...I don't understand grown people with, apparantly, money to burn, ruining a show for other people! NIN was awesome, so was SSSC, but i would rather see a show with screaming preteens...at least they would appreciate what was going on onstage..if i wanted to listen to you have a conversation, i would come to your house!

05/23/09 10:28 AM

wow nin was amazing!! fucking great show, just a couple a little of my own fault problems occured it from being the best it could of been =(. but thats my fault, 10/10 concert. GREAT SETLIST THANK YOU SO MUCH TRENT FOR PLAYING THE FRAGILE!!!

I have to concur with the folks complaining about the talking. In the 101 section there were a lot of people who were just talking or eating during NIN's set. I was kind of confused as to why they opted for good seats and decided to yack it up and chow down. I'm guessing that perhaps they weren't there for NIN. In those respects I enjoyed the SB crowd better.

The show itself was fantastic! I loved the setlist (I think the instrumental parts were where the folks around me got bored and started chatting) and am glad it had a different feel than the SB show. I was also relieved that my car's battery died AFTER the show instead of on the way up.

this show was amazing!! it made the trip from bart and caltrain all the way to mountain view and back to oakland very much worthwhile grinning smiley!! trent-sempai i wil miss you. lots and lots of love to you and i wish you the very very best.

(reminder. david bowie said he would retire from the music industry in 1980 but came back hard in 1983/1984 so who knows...trent may decide to come back at some point).

but now on to the next big show i'm planning to go to smiling smiley.

I am only slightly more of fan of NIN than someone who just knows the hits and was at the show more for Jane's. But I was very, very impressed the musicality of the NIN set, by the respect Reznor has for his audience, and most of all for his complete focus and passion. I think maybe one more hit for the non-hardcore in the middle of the set would have been nice, but fuck it, I loved a lot of tunes I had not heard before, and if it really is the last NIN tour, let them do what they want.

The organization of this site and of the process around joining to get tickets was also a real pleasure. (Obviously Jane's do not have their shit together and benefited tremendously from TR's efforts in this regard.) $65 for a prime second-tier seat (20th row or so) for a lineup like this is a bargain unheard of these days. I appreciate the insistence on keeping the ticket prices down by stripping the show down (which also gives them the flexibility to play the set they want to.)

It was a blast being in the middle of some NIN freaks in section 103 who knew every lyric and couples who unashamedly made out with each other during the appropriate parts.

Second show (First one being Phoenix) and all I have to say is WOW.

TR was not kidding about varied setlists. I just saw them in Phoenix a week ago, and today about 2/3rds of the songs were completely different. I guess this is what this tour is about and completely different from the heavy production based LITS (which was amazing in it's own way).

No pit at all in this venue, so my section 101 seats were dead center and 8 rows away from the stage. TR actually did quite a bit of talking, and he introduced the band (which he did not do in Phoenix).

He also said "This is our last tour for a long time, possible forever." SO there is some hope of them coming back on tour.

My fav songs were Metal and TDTWWA. That little jam on metal where TR was playing the piano and controlling the sequencer... what a pretty jam!

If you can go see at least two shows on this tour, they will more than likely be very different.

Absolutely amazing show. SSSC was GREAT. NIN was perfect and the set mix was the best. GORGEOUS venue. First time for JA ... good show from what I heard, but, my fault, I under-dressed and was freezing by the first song, so we left early.

NIN and TR, through the music and many shows, helped me raise my son by myself, and helped me keep a common thread with him through his teens (he's 26 now). I hope it's not the last NIN show I see, although the next one might have me coming in with my walker. Thanks to TR for his complete professionalism, his genuine connection and caring for those of us who make up his fan base, and for sharing his art with all of us. It's made a big impact on a lot of lives. Much happiness to Trent in all his private and professional pursuits. Thank you for remembering to be human.
