DAMN GREAT SHOW!!! The setlist was fantastic and Trent & co put on a helluva perfomance. I am so glad I decided to add this goodbye to the one in Albuquerque. For me it was almost 2 completely different shows. Now that I have seen Last, Heresy, Mr Self Destruct, Suck and Dead Souls here and The Becoming, TDTWWA and Physical in ABQ I feel complete.

Thank You Trent, Robin, Ilan and Justin for everything!!!!!

Went to CB Potts but it was so busy in there I didn't see anyone (not that I wouldve known) so I just had some food and a beer. Wouldve like to met fellow fans.
<waves goodbye>

Awesome show! Nin was already playing 'Wish" as I was walking up to the venue and "Heresy' by the time I got to my seat @ 7:30 , whoa that freaked me out! Trent said something about an afternoon with Nine Inch Nails, lol... Janes Addiction was right on, it was amazing to watch Dave Navarro playing guitar, that guy can rock it! <3

05/27/09 12:48 AM

Oh yeah, thanks go out to herxmurder for the great ticket. It was sooooo much better than a lawn tix wouldve been. Thanx

Ok... it's all starting to hit me after re-watching SICNH. Is it just me, or was that not THE best performance of that song EVER? I'm going to have to upload that one soon.

Edit:
I'm Afraid of Americans - Sound Check

Edit:
Actually, for the full effect of SICNH start with Pigs All Lined Up. This is mainly Ilian rocking the fuck out of the extended ending of MOTP, but you also get to see Trent prepare for...

Something I Can Never Have

A thousand and one thanks to evilcactus!!

Great to see you again lady, noir, ninman, Paul, Miki, my crew...

G'night.

Anyway I nearly forgot about how pissed I am at the Gestapo that told me "no video cams at this venue". I told them it's all been worked out with
NIN but the lady showed me some Fucker's Green paperwork that said no recording devices. I had to
take back to the car before entry was allowed. I drove 6 hours with a new video cam just to record
this fuckin show. The show made up for it. Another venue screwing over the fans. Trent I can understand your displeasure at dealing with these fucks and I am only on the fan-side.

05/27/09 7:40 AM

Englewood, CO...5-26-2009

We were told to arrive by 4 for the start of the VIP experience. We turned up about 3:30 and were something like 5th & 6th in the line, nice. The presale table made two lines, donors to the left, presale to the right. About 4:20, Shaney (sp?) came out and began checking us in. It was a very slow process because too many wanted to chat with her instead of getting the ball rolling. NIN put off their soundcheck until everyone was in. Jane's did their soundcheck before anyone got in or near Fiddlers Green. We were taken out to the M&G when SSSC came on for soundcheck - if I had known how it would work outside, I would have hung back for soundcheck and caught up with the group later.
We ended up against the rail for soundcheck which was amazing. Robin tossed a pick to one guy who dropped it and it went under the railing for the pit and security couldn't find it for him, poor dude. I looked over at one point and my wife had this "I'm gonna shit myself" look on her face and I noticed she was holding Trent's tambourine. Ummm, holy shit. We asked the microphone wrangler if we had to give it back...he said "Do you want to give it back?" "No." "Okay then" When Trent signed it for her, he had a big smile on his face. I had them all sign a 10th anniversary card for my wife (it will be framed and hung) and she got the tambourine signed as well as a wedding card for our best friends. We hung at the back of the line for the M&G in hopes we wouldn't feel as pushed for time and we felt like we had all the time in the world. We thought about Downward Spiral vinyl and such but we wanted sentimental value not monetary value.
My wife (visually impaired) told Trent "You look so much different than I thought" and he smiled and said "I'm shorter in real life.." he looked over at the rest of the band, pointed and said "They're the big guys" And damn is Robin tall! JMJ is so very nice, and Ilan said a very sincere "thank you" when I told him he kicks ass (he's a skinny guy like me!). The pic w/ Trent turned out perfect. The guy who was taking the group picture (aka band sandwich) with the rest of the band rushed so it turned out a little blurry... but the one with Trent is perfect.
The buffet/catering left a little to be desired. By the time we got to it, the food was overspiced, overcooked, but I didn't have to pay $742 for a burger and bottle of water at the venue. The roast potatoes were so very yummy and I could have eaten the whole tray, great selection of beverages, desserts...I just think we got there towards the end but I can't complain, my belly was full.
They then took us to the stage, we got to see NIN go into their little tent (Trent's fiancee in tow, she's hot! sorry Trent, but you know it too) and did a little ritual (we all joked about animal sacrifice) because of the screaming and yelping coming from the tent for their pre-show ritual. We got to watch them walk on-stage and followed right behind. While waiting, Steve Perkins (Jane's drummer) walked past, stopped and talked and signed a ticket for us. Shaney (NIN rep) said he has the best smile in music...my wife agrees. He was all grin and so very nice.
Watching the show from the mixing board was intense to say the least.
I cannot imagine feeling like more of a VIP. We were allowed to roam backstage...many didn't but I took a little stroll to snap pics and see the workings of a concert. At one point I looked over and Boots was there and he signed my ticket "Boots was here" and then during THTF, I looked beside me and Tom Morello was jammin' We talked for a minute (at soundcheck I tossed him the game Farkel, a perfect road game) and while we talked he told me he had heard of it and was looking forward to playing. He signed my ticket next to Boots, nice way to round things out.
The energy of the show was amazing to say the least... our last NIN show was the best!
It is true, you're escorted out for Jane's but that's ok. The experience rocked, we were ear-to-ear cheshire grin walking out of the venue.
Pictures are not downloaded yet but I will try and post some later on.

Hey everyone! Show was awesome! It was amazing meeting Trent, he was so nice, and I was really star struck, but he was pretty cool about it. When I met Robin, I went in for a hug and he picked me up! It really took me by surprise!

Yes, SICNH was a highlight of the night.

Great pics everyone, thanks for sharing.

Also, on the setlist, did they start with Pinon?

05/27/09 8:54 AM

Yes, show began with Pinon. It was handwritten on the setlist backstage. Added Pinon and dropped Down In It.

05/27/09 9:04 AM

I appreciate everyone's enthusiasm and it was a fun show . . . all NIN shows are fun! But, did everyone really think it was that good? I didn't have VIP passess and didn't get that incredible experience. I had great seats and so I just showed up and watched as a normal fan would watch. Of the 6 NIN shows I've seen over the last 15 years, I thought that this show was, by a considerable margine, the worst. Part of it was the sound system which completely lacked "punch." But, even at that, I thought the order in which Reznor decided to play the songs and the song selection was questionable. The show never really kicked into high gear --individual songs were awesome - but it never really got going. Plus, why the fuck would he choose to play songs like Metal and Dead Souls on a goodby tour that is meant for true fans? I thought they fell completely flat and defeated whatever momentum was being built. Finally, the sound just wasn't anywhere near up to NIN standards. It lacked punch, as mentioned. But, it also lacked the fidelity for which NIN is famous! Several times, the layered, complex sound that is NIN, was lost in a wall of mushy shit! WTF? That's just not the NIN I know.

Perhaps it was just me -- but I'm interested to know if some of you who have been to multiple shows and are long-time fans thought this show was really all that stellar?

Was my 19th and probably last show and it definately was in the top 5. Sorry you didn't like it. For many of us it was something special.

Many of us "long-time" fans have been begging TR to do a tour with less structure and an inter-changeable setlist for years. He finally did it, and it was everything I hoped it would be. If the first half of Broken and then heresy and MOTP didn't get you going, I don't know what to say. Guess your just a habitual complainer.

Were you actually in the venue? or were you outside sitting in the parking lot?

Sound quality was fantastic. I'm a long time fan, and have been to a handful of NIN shows over the years, and I think this show's audio was fantastic, maybe only topped by Fragility 2.0 (with APC).

Anyways, utterly amazing concert. Almost cried when Trent said "goodbye" and then they played TDTWWA.

FAN FUCKING TASTIC.
THANK YOU TRENT.

This was an excellent edit to your original post!

It was incredible to hear those songs! But, did you notice the pit? Only 20 or so people were even moshing to MOTP! What's that about. . . . I believe it was a sign of the energy that was absent from this show! And, your right - it was good to have a less structured set list with more emphasis on the music than the lights! But I really like those cool light shows. You know, Brittny Spears has this groovy lazer thing that I've seen at many of her shows. I think Reznor should have barrowed it and used it last night -- it really would have added a groovy visual cue to the otherwise unispiring set. Oh, and New Kids on the Block, at their reunion show they had this crazy-cool dance routine that I think Reznor and the new guy should have put together to showcase their footwork. Oh, and singing together at the mic - I miss that! I love when the whole band comes to one mic and they sing together - it's just fucking heart-warming. Where was that during this show? That reminds me, Reznor's pants were too tight around his nuts . . what was that! I thought it was border-line lude . . . .

Did I mention my back hurt at the show . . that must have been the root of my habitual complaining. You, on the other hand, have clearly gained considerable clarity of thought and balanced perspective after seeing NIN 19 times. Cheers!

05/27/09 11:32 AM

first time I've listened to them and actually felt a sense of peace and hope.

Best display of musicianship I've seen anywhere.

05/27/09 11:43 AM

Excellent point hallucinogenation! The musicianship was incredible! I had a really good view of the drummer and it was cool to watch him perfectly execute the complex beats! Very nice! That is one thing about Reznor, his line-up changes from time to time, but no matter who is playing, he allows no slouches in his band!

05/27/09 1:02 PM

What a wonderful show! I cried like a baby... Im gonna miss you Trent, you helped me through a lot of difficult times. I have been to many shows, but this one takes the cake! Thanks for a wonderful 20 years...ooooh Im starting to cry again.

05/27/09 2:16 PM

AWESOME show Trent!! This show was definitely on the top of my list for shows of this tour so far. It had one hell of a set list and included a lot of the songs that I hadn’t heard live before. My favorites of the night were Dead Souls, Something I Can Never Have, Burn, Heresy, Last, and of course my all time favorite The Hand That Feeds!! All of the other songs were great too!! It’s really hard to pick favorites with a set list like that, and I’m sure I left some out. The only set list that has even come close to this one was Santa Barbara (that I’ve been to), and that’s because of Sin. However, this one killed it energy wise! Thanks Trent and Co. for putting on a GREAT show!! It was well worth waiting in the rain just to see it! I got some awesome pics and had a wonderful time rocking out!

By the way Trent, you’re the best!! For a variety of reasons!! Not only do you give your fans one hell of a show, you also do a hell of a lot more! Thanks for being so cool about the picture the day before! Also, while we were in the presale line about to go into the pit I saw the lady walk out with the tambourine, it was awesome that you gave it to her. All of my uncles and aunts are visually impaired to the point they can’t see anything so I thought it was exceptionally cool that she was the one who walked away with it! I’m sure it’s an awesome souvenir for her!!

The only thing that would have made the night better is to have gotten the tambourine or set list! It’s just to bad that they guys taking the set lists off the stage crumpled them up and said they couldn’t be handed out. I would have loved to have one!

05/27/09 1:51 PM

Awesome show! Great energy in the pit. Got to meet a few nin.com fans. Overall an amazing night. Here's a few shots. I've got a lot more loaded on PhotoBucket: [s683.photobucket.com]

05/27/09 2:59 PM

That was such an amazing show. Granted I was stuck on the lawn but that actually isn't so bad. The only complaint is how fucking sore my legs are today. Rocking out on a hill while trying not to fall and keep your balance is tough.

The set list was amazing. I actually think it's the best setlist I have ever heard them play and I've seen them 4 times. Reading Down in It was on the list and didn't get played makes me sad. That and Last were on my wishlist and I got Last.
I was able to hear the sound check while in line, though. I got in line fairly early so I heard all 3 songs really well because we were close to the doors and they were open.

Amazing night, though. I can't say how much I love this band and they sure went out with a bang.
I enjoyed JA more than I anticipated I would and didn't enjoy SSSC at all. Great show. I'm glad I was able to go.

In case anyone wanted the set list:

Pinion
Wish
Last
Heresy
March of the Pigs
Something I Can Never Have
Metal
Reptile
Burn
Gave Up
Non-Entity
The Way Out Is Through
Mr. Self Destruct
Survivalism
Suck
Dead Souls
The Day the World Went Away
Hurt
The Hand That Feeds
Head Like a Hole

That's everything and it's in order. I texted myself the songs as they played them so I wouldn't forget any.

I thought Trent and Co did their part fantastically. That was the first time he opened with Pinion followed by Wish on this tour (and then played Last and MOTP). He really wanted to get the show banging from the start---the problem is that the crowd just didn't match NIN's intensity. The people in the pit should have been kicked out (that was an f-ing joke watching those 'suppossed' fans there). I knew right away there would be no encore. The crowd picked it up a bit towards the middle, but it wasn't enough. I've been to over 10 NIN shows and that was the best set list but worst crowd.

The problem was the split crowds for NIN and JA, and I even thought there might have been more JA fans there...so the audience was not the hardcore NIN fan. Also, the crowd seemed a bit older (overall).

I did have a lot of great conversations with some older hardcore NIN fans that even remember seeing NIN play at many venues in CO that now do not exist (e.g. old Gothic and someplace in Boulder).

The nin.com ticket line was organized compared to what some people had said about other venues thus far. Seats were pretty good. I thought the sound was fine last night and quite loud.

The 'stripped' down tour is the way to go. All about the music the music the music---and that is what Trent is all about.

Last and Heresy were great--SICNH was amazing with the mix of piano along with Robin playing the other part on the guitar (never seen that before)--that might have been one of the better performances of Reptile that I have seen live--Non-Entity was a treat to hear--same with Hurt--hilights for me were The Way Out Is Through, Mr Self Destruct and definitely TDTWWA. HLAH was great, but Trent should go back to singing the entire course!

Too bad Down In It was left off, but he played that at Red Rocks.

Overall, incredible night.

Thank you Trent for working so hard and giving so much to all your fans. It really means a lot to me and to all the other fans.

Grazie!
