I did the $1K donation thing. It was so thrilling to meet Trent that I don't even know how to really feel two weeks later.
I'll elaborate briefly and come back later to this.
There were quite a few $300 donors, so soundcheck was fun. Waiting in line to meet Trent was kinda gruelling. It took quite a while. And, honestly, I don't really care if Trent signs anything. The thrill was shaking his hand. My date and I totally missed Street Sweeper Social Club. That was unfortunate.
We did, however, get to stand on stage some feet away from mixing (or something like that.) My biggest complaint is I left my camera/camcorder in the car - a total slip of the mind. I was so worried about finding the correct place to get into the venue and verifying I had my receipt. When I was in line, it quickly donned on me I had left my camera in the car. I kept thinking we were going to be called into sound check and I'd just be on a roll too much to care about getting my camera and my date had her 3 MP camera, anyways. (Mine's 12, and I have HD video.) I did get a pic with Trent, though.
Anyways, I got pics. If Fiddler's Green didn't have such an idiotic staff, I woulda stepped out and grabbed my camera while waiting to meet Trent (and the guys): trying to explain to the staff I was VIP when my date and I accidentally left the backstage only ended up with the Fiddler's Green staff confused as fuck. Finally, we simply walked back stage.
Regardless, it was an amazing experience. I don't know who else on these boards was a VIP; it'd be cool to hear from more of you guys. I was with a tall blonde in a skeleton-print shirt, whilst I was wearing a black nylon shirt and a black bandana. We stood on the left side of the stage.
All of my NIN shows have been thrilling. Of course, this takes the cake. I'm depressed, though, that Trent is stressing this is the last live NIN tour.
