Let me find the one photo I took and I'll post it in a few minutes.

Every year, it happens without fail. All at once, you know. From a scent, a breeze, a particular ray of sunlight. You know that autumn is just around the corner. You can feel it - unquestionably. I felt it at the rail in Noblesville. The autumn of NIN. There has been a shift. I feel in in myself. I feel it in Trent. It really is good-bye.

Four years ago I was sucked into the NIN vortex. It has been both cathartic and bewildering, ecstatic and devastating. I have chased a beautiful ball of light across the country collecting shows like notches on a gun. I have had some of the best times of my life, made some precious friends and learned so much. But as I stood at the rail, something felt different. The ball of light blazed, but I didn't feel lit-up.

The show was phenomenal. The set felt fresh and well-balanced. Having seen 29 shows in 4 years, it was exciting to experience some different material. I have been hungry for less-commercial set lists of songs geared toward the fans who care the most, instead of those who care the least - with an understanding that revving up the crowd with MOTP and climaxing with HLAH are must-haves for fans at all levels. TDS was my particular favorite of those songs I hadn't yet seen live. I look forward to seeing what else is on the menu at upcoming shows.

Performances were powerful. Trent was like a pit bull - fierce and muscular. He's an incredible physical performer. He has some cool new moves - peeling back his crotch instead of his head during MOTP, for example. Trent has learned how to use his voice to his best advantage, dodging high notes at times, to make his voice last, while retaining the intensity of the moment. Robin hid his illness well, from what I could tell from my spot on the opposite side. JMJ's a hoot. I love watching him love performing. Ilan + Wish = AWESOME!

I can't say enough about the quality of the NIN product. I love watching this machine run. From the front of house to the crew to the band, the attention to detail shows.

So why didn't I feel lit-up? Maybe I was tired from Chicago's crush. Maybe Trent's light feels less inviting - like he's holding parts of himself back, pulling away. Or maybe I'm just finally full.

It's a bittersweet thing. NIN is saying good-bye at exactly the same time as I feel ready to let go. I love it so much, but autumn is here. I feel it - unquestionably.

Btw, even though I didn't have to pay for Trent's water bottle... the messenger bag wasn't as free.

BUT IT IS FUCKING SWEET.

My gallery from Sec A, Row L. I also post over at ETS under the same name.

The positives -
-SSSC was awesome. the Oath was much cooler live than the track from the NIN|JA EP.
-This NIN set list was SO much more badass than the last one I went to @ the same venue in 2006. Sadly, that concert and this one are the only two i've gotten to go to in my 15+ years as a NIN fan.
-Metal live was awesome. I thought I heard unusual feedback, that turned out to be tornado sirens.
-The weather was fitting for the show.
-The new lineup is great. I do kinda miss Freese, but Ilan is a good replacement.

Jane's was okay, but I've never been much of a fan. Left after Whores, basically.

The negatives -
-Noblesville is completely different from the last time I was there in 2007. (Yeah, I live in Indy but don't go there unless it's for a show.) This caused us to get turned around for a minute when leaving.
-Venue Management in regards to the following:
-Selling us bottles and cans and then confiscating them as we're trying to be seated
-the Pre-sale line confusion (What's this line for again?)
-the Verizon "jump the line" vs the pre-sale line
-what exactly we were doing in the pre-sale line (until Seth Rogan came out and told us)
-Confusion of the GA Pit line inside the venue with the one on the North side. Seth Rogan told us one thing, Trisha Takinawa told us another. It was a micro-management mess.
-No Dead Souls (0 for 2 for me. sad smiley Prospects of hearing this live are currently not good.)
-No I'm Afraid of Americans (Oh well. We got Mr. Self Destruct and Metal.)

I have a few from the stage that have a fairly decent view of everything, and the last one that's up was during Hurt just as all the lighters were flicking on it and shows the storm clouds up above (my camera is a little point and shoot Canon so mind the quality).

Ok so I woke up at 5am to get in line and even then we were 6th in line but hey.. 4 cougars slept overnight to see the band.. I'm not that hardcore. Overall it was a good experience and I had lots of fun. Here are the links to my pictures.

You got a shot of me, far right towards the middle bald guy looking up basically behind the long haired guy looking down. Pretty cool moment in time!

HQ video and audio from the NIN soundcheck will be up on Youtube in an hour or less. Other videos are available to view now: [www.youtube.com]

any link for sssc's set yet?

06/01/09 5:34 PM

Did any one get a recording of Jane's or SSSC ? I got one of Nails, but would love to have one of the other hands to completely cement the experience.

Wow - that is awesome. Thanks a lot for the link. Has anyone spotted a SSSC torrent yet?

Also, I saw a dozen or so people with camera, but haven't seen any video files. I took my my HD camcorder and had some problems. It is sitting on my desk and refuses to turn on @ the moment.

06/01/09 6:54 PM

Okay okay I know I'm late to this thread....

BUT HOLY SHIT!!!!!!! This show kicked ASS!!!! Great line up, great performance, fucking fantastic.

Getting to meet Trent & the rest, ya know, made it even better. smiling smiley

Seriously, this day will live on as the best day of my life.

So I got a couple things signed (click 'em if you want a bigger pic):

Seed 1
http://www.supernaut.biz/nin/thumb/seed1_thumb.jpg

Halo 5 Mini CD
http://www.supernaut.biz/nin/thumb/halo5_thumb.jpg

Since I had Trent sign my Collected DVD, I asked him, "So this is Seed 1... Are you seed0?"

Trent said, "Me, personally?"

I said, "Yeah... grinning smiley"

He just chuckled and said, "Thanks", presumably for the donation. I didn't really expect an answer, just kinda wanted to see how he reacted, hehe.

Oh, and I also chided Ilan about not having a physical copy of "Coup" to sign. He said "That's cause there's not one in existence."

I said, "Yeah, that's the problem, hehe." So I told him that we really needed, at the very least, a lossless version of his album to download because it's a shame to waste such an amazing album on only mp3s.

Anyway, I was a bit saddened by the fact that I missed both SSSC's soundcheck and their entire set because the M&G line was so long. Conversely, I'm happy that this many people helped contribute to Eric's cause (so that pretty much overshadows any disappointment I have.) Trent and companies generosity is truly phenomenal, to do this at every show... Amazing!

I gots some more HD goodness at this show, here's a few for now:

Soundcheck - Non-Entity - HD

Backstage - Home - HD

I have a set of SSSC uploaded with some video snippets, and a full set of NIN uploaded that I need to add video too, then I need to get the JA ones up.

PM me if you'd like a link to my albums, I'd be happy to share.

Not my favorite Nails show mainly because of the pit crowd on the right but also because we are all getting older and much more tame. But it was still fantastic. Back in the day a Nails show was crazy nuts. My first show in 94 will have to be the best show I have ever seen hands down. But the Noblesville show was the third greatest day of my life. My nervousness in meeting the boys put me out when I went to talk. I could very well have just said blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah and it would have came out more clear than what I actually said. Oh well, like they will remember me in that they met like what 300-400 people that day. I dont know what the acutal count was but it felt like thousands. As for the lines and the confusion, yeah it was there, but I have kids so my patience level is super high. But still, got to meet the boys and Trent. Ilan ignored me, oh well. Trent didnt get my joke, akward. And Justin was so very kind and humble. Wish that I could have met Robin but dammit he is a bad ass to get out on stage that sick. Much love and respect for that man I tell ya. Wish I could have met Mr. Sheridan as he is the rock god of design and I am a designer. But to be the rock god of design, one must actually do work. Its ok, I got my robot to him. That is all that matters. Overall, a great show. Once I got away from the morons in the pit and moved over to some true fans who know what a Nails pit is supposed to be, everything was kosher. The overall vibe from the connection between band and crowd was awe striking. We Hoosiers know how to rock a show I tell ya. I am sad this is the last show, but I am also happy. The man has been going strong pretty much all of his 20 years. He needs a break. He needs to enjoy that smokin hot and very talented future wife of his. But dammit that was supposed to be me. winking smiley Justin needs to enjoy his wife and beautiful daughter. Robin just needs a break it seems (and to enjoy his wife too). And Ilan, I dont think hes quite done yet. I love the way that man zones out while drumming almost like his eyes go back into his head and hes channeling the drum gods through. Anyway, enough of my babbling. Great show.

oh, man just read my first post on this thread. I made a mistake when I mentioned home. Home was a part of the soundcheck, not the actual setlist. LOL. Anyway, I think another favorite of the night for me was physical. Really wanted to hear this one! Amazing show. :-) metal rocked too.
