awesome show! not my favorite set list of the tour but we got heresy, wish and 1.000,000 so i am happy. trent was in fine form.

the venue was so lax with security....first time in ages that i have not had and issue there.

the bf got loads of great pics that i'll upload tomorrow.

jane's were great, as always....took me back to 1991.

still wish NIN headlined but i can't complain!

thanks to trent and co. for a great night and 20 years of NIN!

06/02/09 10:00 PM

The show was f'n awesome, Street Sweeper really kicked ass, that was a nice surprise, and NIN played some of my faves, I'm glad i got to hear Metal, The Fragile and Mr.Self Destruct live, it was totally insane.

06/02/09 10:07 PM

That's the set unless I forgot something!! winking smiley

It was the perfect set for me: I like it hard and crazy, I love TDS, The Fragile and The Slip best, I like minimal instrumentals (just my preference!) so it was so much fun. Me personally, I would have given back IDNWT and Wish (heard it lots) for Dead Souls and Somewhat Damaged and it would have been PERFECTION. I would, of course, have been carried out on a stretcher in shock, mind you.

I have to work early so I could only catch half of Jane's but they were killing it.

SSSC was awesome! Won me over from Paper Planes onward. Haha.

I am also intensely grateful that the brain dead clapping spider monkeys who clapped off beat during hurt at the last Toronto show did NOT clap. Phew.

06/02/09 10:13 PM

Unreal show! got everything i wanted to see!

Now I'm Nothing
Heresy
Metal
The Becoming
I'm Afraid of Americans
Burn
I Do Not Want This
The Way Out Is Through
Mr. Self-Destruct
Hurt

i really didnt think that they were going to come back and play hurt! im so glad i got to see it live!!!

BIG BIG BIG THANKS TO Tyler for being an awesome nin.com board member and hooking me up with my section 200 ticket!
if it was not for him i would have been filming hd video from section 400!

ill post it soon, took some rad pics too!

thanks NIN!

I feel like someone from Toronto must have done something good to Trent, as this set was unreal. I've seen NIN 6 times in the last 10 years, and this was by far the best show ever, it wasn't the visual masterpiece LITS was, but it was not needed. This was raw NIN and I loved it. Thanks Trent and band, amazing... I don't know how you do it...

Absolutely awesome show, kicked ass in all the right ways. SSSC was really solid and did an excellent job as an opener. NIN just fucking rocked. You didn't just hear the music, you experienced it right down to your bones. Here's hoping that Trent comes along again some day, I sure hope this isn't the end of NIN touring forever.

Janes was decent, not a huge fan personally and I didn't stay for the whole set. I was there to see NIN and that's what we got.

06/02/09 10:31 PM

Just got back to the hotel after going to see the show. Awesome!!! Missed seeing SSSC because I timed it badly, but I hope to see them next time they roll around. Everything I heard from them sounds really good. I can see them playing lots for a while and headlining their own shows.
Nin(the band I really looked forward to seeing again) were amazing. Head like a Hole went over well, but Mr. Self Destruct kicked ass. I laughed when the band played I'm Afraid of Americans, but was totally moved when the entire audience seemed to sing along with Trent when they played Hurt.
Jane's. WTF? Was Perry wearing a corset? That guy is hilarious. What a showman. I don't know much of their stuff, but their set was tight and really entertaining.
I've got a perma-grin on my face now which should last a little while. The only drawback was that there was this guy standing in front of me blocking my line of sight. I moved to see, he seemed to know and moved over, so I couldn't see again. I seriously thought of stomping on him, but I changed my mind when I saw that, even though he didn't seem to know any of the Nine Inch Nails material, he was moving all the time and smiling. Hey, it's not his fault I'm short.
If this was the last Nails show I get to see, I'm sad, but thankful this one was so good.

06/02/09 10:34 PM

The best, most intense 90 minutes of live music I have ever experienced in 30 years of concerts. Third show in four nights and by far the best performance Trent and the boys have given. People openly weeping after Hurt, Trent tripping and falling over the stage carpet (and he didn't miss a word), and a mic that didn't work during (? someone insert song here). Was I the only one standing during SSSC's set? WTF Toronto, it's not a library, it's Tom fucking Morello...show some respect!!

I had the privilege of having my son with me for our little NINJA road trip. Trent, you've made such an impact on him and the Toronto show was the perfect ending. Thank you.

06/02/09 10:36 PM

Fantastic all around!

I loved Now I'm Nothing! Metal & I'm Afraid of Americans were nice surprises seeing as I had been avoiding setlists.

Interesting story - did anyone notice the helicopter during Hurt, friends of mine said they didn't but it seemed like Trent paused the vocals long enough for it to go away, or just crazy good timing.

I'm very happy.

06/02/09 10:46 PM

Amazing day. I got the meet & greet package - which meant seeing the soundcheck. The m&g was just NIN, and all 4 of them were there. There were so many of us that I expected to be pushed through really quickly but instead they were so nice! Each one shook my hand, asked me my name and thanked me for coming. They did this with everyone that I saw. It seemed liked the guys - Justin & Ilan especially - were really trying to give everyone a special moment. So appreciated! There were so many of us that we did a group picture - about 20 to 30 of us and all 4 guys at a time.
Soundcheck was awesome! I was right in the centre, two people back. They played the Wretched there! Amazing to hear it from so freaking close!

SSSC soundcheck was also great. They seem to have fun with each other, Boots told a really bad/funny joke at the end. Their sound wasn't that great in the actual show, but could have been because I was so far to the side - seat #s 1 & 2 in the 200s. I loved that they said their name so many times after each song, it had us laughing so hard! My friend and I kept saying to each other - who are these guys? And of course, then Boots would say their name again.
I will definitely be buying their CD this month.

NIN set list was great! Definitely for the fans. Could not believe we got Mr Self Destruct! And such a raw version, took me a moment to recognize it. So happy when they came back with Hurt. And the crowd did a good singalong.

Trent fell one time! He was trying to pull up the mike stand but it was stuck to some piece of carpet so he tried to pull that up too and ended up on his back! But then got back up and ran about the stage a bit more. Mad amounts of fog/smoke!

Crowd was good. SSSC made us stand up (good for them!) and we were all up for the entire NIN. (as it should be!)

06/02/09 11:03 PM

Great show. Snapped over 2000 pictures. Got harassed by security for my camera twice. I printed out the forum post about the relaxed camera policy and he told me it didn't mean shit to him and I'd have to check my lens and pick it up after the show. Straightened out one situation only to be harassed 10 minutes later.

06/02/09 11:06 PM

Neat!

Janes was awesome, I never knew Perry was so freakish on the stage.

Goodbye NIN

Janes you have a new fan!!

SSSC - That was cool! Gonna have to D/L -- Buy an album!!

I always say this and I hate saying it but ... I'd love to work the soundboard ... I've always thought the sound could sound just a little bit better and tinkered with ... IAOA sounded awesome ... Ilan was awesome Mr. Self destruct was pure power ...

Wish it was warmer ... am I the only one who is still freezing??

I was on the lawn - I've always been a GA guy - I'd still prefer GA - The lawn crowd (where i was) was actually more active/louder/hippier when Janes came on - Security were Nazis (This is Canada - let the tokers stay) - I do not want this THANKS - Perry said "This is Canada where the women have long legs and the men fight on ice" or something like that - Standing in one spot for 2+ hrs sucks (gotta be moving)- Please DO NOT carry on loud conversations right beside me when NIN is performing - Voyager just came on tv ... bye!! ( Go SSSCNINJANES \m/ )*Work @ 7:30AM = Shit

06/02/09 11:11 PM

Did anyone film the whole concert? I was there, but I'm really short and I was having a hard time seeing most of the time. I didn't even see Trent fall! Is that up on Youtube yet? If it is, someone give me a link please!

The show was awesome! SSSC were really good and I enjoyed their set. I went with my dad, who's really picky when it comes to music since he's been playing/teaching guitar for more than 40 years, and even he enjoyed SSSC. He liked somewhat liked NIN too, which is good, but for some reason Trent pisses him off. He calls him 'that guy with the knee problem' - apparently, Trent standing with his legs bent gets on my dad's nerves. He remembered him from November though. A minute into the first song, he leans over and says to me "Didn't you see this guy before? That guy who never stands up straight?" Neither of us liked Jane's Addiction though, so we left early. On the way home I was explaining to my dad that NIN is taking a break after this year. My dad's response; "That's right - it's because that guy needs to get his knees fixed."

I had a really good time. =) Too bad I have to wake up early for school tomorrow ... Oh, does anyone know if the merch booths were selling the messenger bags? I didn't see them, and it seems like for some reason they weren't being sold at the show at all.

06/02/09 11:13 PM

P.S. Having Janes follow NIN was perfect ... It's sorta like a hidden track you find at the end of a cd ...

Was Tom playing the intro to Revolver?

06/03/09 12:15 AM

I'm allowed to post here!

If anyone saw a disheveled guy limping around in a purple dress shirt, that was me. My leg cramped up in the middle of Wish but I managed to fuel myself on adrenaline and get myself back into the crowd for the rest of the night. Feeling the pain now though. I hope I'll be able to walk tomorrow. confused smiley

Extra-special thanks to Pragmatica for taking me along to "meet" Trent and company, who were all in good spirits despite our frigid Canadian weather.

I couldn't have asked for a better setlist.

That's all for now. Tired and sore.

Sound check setlist:

Home
The Good Soldier
The Frail
The Wretched

(Am I missing one?)

Edit: Fixed Fragile/Frail. Whoops.

What a fucking great show! m/g was awesome. If anyone saw the photoblog it made it double awesome! Ha.
-Thanks for the dudes in line with me and my friend who let me use their iphone after the m/g! Those things are hard to operate confused smiley..somewhat technologically challenged here. There were a lot of cool people I met.
SSSC were fucking SWEET. I would totally see them again and will pick up the album for sure. Damn Tom is the shit...played with his fucking teeth. Enough said!
NIN were amazing. What a killer setlist. Everyone in my area was rocking out. Amazing..and thanks to everyone involved in the m/g. The staff are excellent.
JA-..so dave had a vest on. But the cold weather still didn't stop him from wearing a shirt. tongue sticking out smiley they were awesome. Perry is such a crazy showman lol watching perkins play is always a treat.

Such a good night. All 3 bands were amazing. I am sunburnt and supposed to be up and in court for work in about 4 1/2hrs now so hopfully I can sleep.
TORONTO WE ROCKED THE FUCKING DONATIONS!NICE WORK.

Security were Nazi's. One of my friends was tossed out because she held onto her friends beer while he tied his shoes. All because they don't allow Government issued Health Cards as a valid form of I.D.

I wonder if "Robochick" is on the forums.

Best NIN show I've ever seen. Every single songs I saw from previous nights I've wanted to see was played tonight. The highlight for me was "The Fragile". I took tons of pictures and HD videos of Now I'm Nothing/Terrible Lie, I'm Afraid Of Americans, and of course, The Fragile.

I took a ton of pictures too, and I'll post them eventually.

Thanks a million Trent, amazing show, amazing night, I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Wow. That's horrible to hear, it's what I hoped wouldn't happen.

I was strutting around with a 500D attached to a Canon L 70-200 F/2.8 lens and didn't get questioned once, but I was in the pit.

And I had One of those K3B badges on too, which may have helped.

The Wretched!!!! I wanted to hear that one too, but I was happy to get The Fragile instead. I was told by someone it was five songs, so you must be missing one (they didn't list them for me though)

I'm telling you, I feel like everybody from Toronto who did that survey way back about live shows said the same things I did, because everything I wasn't as thrilled with for LITS tour was GONE this time. Either that, or fortune just seriously smiled upon Toronto.

Kick ass show. I was in seats, sec 303, on the aisle. As a twitter winner I should add. Anyway, full review tommorow.. just gonna quickly mention that I was not at all impressed with no one knowing what our backstage passes were for.

Pretty sure I have a picture of you in the crowd.

That's so odd that they were pissing on you like that. One security guard asked me to email some Janes pictures to him afterwards, another asked what magazine I was shooting for, but both these incidents was during the Janes set.

Some pictures of the show.. it was awesome. The Becoming is my favourite song ever.

This was definitely a killer show. The set list was heavy and they played a lot of songs that I hadn't heard live yet. I managed to get some video of Metal, Mr. Self Destruct, The Becoming and I'm Afraid of Americans, but the sound quality is shit because I was close to the stage. If anyone has recorded the audio, please post a link. Perhaps those of us who have video clips could edit it with enhanced audio and upload it to YouTube for everyone to enjoy.

SSSC's performance was amazing. I really liked their energy and they definitely had great stage presence.Tom Morello playing the guitar with his mouth, that was insane! My boyfriend and I actually saw Boots in the crowd during Janes Addiction and we got him to sign our tickets. He was a really nice guy!

As Trent mentioned, the light production would be simple this time around and I think it worked to their advantage. It was all about the music, passionate and raw with no distractions. It was good to see the crowd so responsive too, because the last Toronto show at the ACC the crowd was so dull. I saw people crying after Hurt and I have to admit that I was as well. I think it hit everyone that this could very well be the last time they ever seen NIN live. It was really moving.

I took this picture near the beginning of the show, but it sort of looks like Trent is constipated haha.
