First post!

I'll be posting some pictures and video later... It may take me a few days, as I'll be going to Holmdel tomorrow as well.

Was an EDLC $1k donor, so some video will be backstage, mostly showing Ilan melting faces...

Apologies in advance- I'm on a cell phone and don't know how to separate paragraphs... Standing in line at the ferry back to philly. What an absolutely brutal, beautiful, holy shit set. I thought Mansfield brought it. Tonight schooled every show I have ever seen. Though not perfectly played, as Trent himself said, it was so perfectly honest tonight and even more enjoyable because of it. The band was on fire. Notable mistakes included missing lyrics in BOTE, and Trent missing a keyboard cue at the beginning of Burn, so there was no sequenced key sound for the whole song. But these mistakes show how amazing this lineup of the band is. They totally rolled with everything and played with such focus, intensity, and energy. So so good. Nothing prepared me for how great it is to scream 'your god is dead' with thousands of other people. Emotional highlight of the night was def TDTWWA. Oh and if the girl with the Op Ivy shirt is reading this, you were totally awesome to talk to! Sorry I missed you at the end. smiling smiley

Great show...I'm bummed they didn't play terrible lie or something I can never have but definitely stoked they played Mr. Self Destruct. Are they not doing encores either? I didn't even stay for JA. I gotta say, I'm glad I got to see them in November in the pit at AC House of Blues.

06/05/09 9:32 PM

Oh...and...SSSC kicked ass! They were tight! And Tom Morello is amazing. He made Robin pale in comparison.

06/05/09 10:28 PM

Amazing show! I loved the setlist...I was glad to hear Metal, Heresy, and Mr. Self-Destruct. The show wasn't perfect, but, hey, the mistakes gave it character and make it even more memorable. SSSC was kick ass...can't wait to see them again on Sunday. Couldn't stay for JA, because my son was sick at home. I will have to catch them at Jones Beach.

06/05/09 10:52 PM

This show was awesome, and the setlist was awesome... As far as them not playing an encore, NIN didn't leave the stage until around 9:55, which was later than I thought they were going to, considering JA was supposed to come on at 10.

God I wish I could go to another show this tour.

06/05/09 10:53 PM

Couldn't have been happier with the show tonight. Amazing setlist, amazing performance, all around amazing night. I noticed he fucked up in The Beginning of the End and thought it was really funny he called himself out later. At least he can admit mistakes! I rocked it hard to Mr. Self Destruct, Line Begins To Blur and Heresy. Can someone type out NIN's soundcheck list? I'm curious as to what they played.

I stayed for Jane's and they did really great. I only know a few of the bigger Jane's songs, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the fuck out of their set. I bought my cousin a ticket for his birthday, he's a Jane's fan and I'm a NIN fan and we both liked the other band so it worked out great!

I was kinda pissed they were out of messenger bags, not sure if anyone mentioned it in another thread.

06/05/09 11:21 PM

That was a really good concert. My girlfriend and I had a fun time. Showmanship was top notch from all 3 bands.

SSSC definitely stood out because the crowd wasnt expecting such a stage presence. Great songs and the MIA Paper Planes cover was awesome. They were giving it their all and were on fire. Tom Morello has gotten better since RATM. At one point he commanded (successfully) the entire crowd to "stand the fuck up"..."There is always that one person who has to be the wise guy and say, 'Fuck you I wont do what you tell me'". Haha!

NIN was rocking for most of the set, quite enjoyable. Trent said he was giving us some special songs (?) since he fucked up a few times, but they would just play more instead of talk. Im glad I was able to catch this wave goodbye show since NIN will assumably be gone for a long while. They had an interesting setlist (one of the most?) and I had a great view in the pit.

Only problem was there were so many drunk douchebags, bug-eyed creepy fans, and bearded cavemen that had to ruin it for a lot of people. The did so by pushing and punching and humping people's backs (including mine) with their sweaty bodies, fists, and elbows. A big fuck you to all those cretins, but its probably not you here reading this. They were of the much lower common denominator and would have a hard time navigating to this page.

Jane's Addiction put on a good show, but it seemed the band was going through the motions and/or a little tired at a few points. But they definitely rocked it and had fun for virtually the entire time. Dave Navarro really wanted this one girl in the pit and kept on mouthing to her to "come on back". I would assume that happened. Perry really got the crowd going and was having a blast feeding off of the last bit of energy the crowd had to give. Great show.

NINJA(SS) 2009!

Oh and the presale tickets are classy as hell.

Na Na Naaa, Na Na Na.

Just got back home! Had a blast! Just finished uploading 300+ pic's. SSSC and JA were also amazing! Will post more pic's up soon.

Nice throw back to my first NIN concert...3 years(?) ago. Tonight was a fuckin' great time.

06/05/09 11:36 PM

I have to say, I was worried a little about the pit here as all people have been telling me for the past couple months is how scary Camden is.

This pit was THE BEST pit I have been in (except for my first 2 shows, nothing will trump them). There seemed to be some energy lacking during SSSC but that quickly went away for Nails. There was even an aggressive yet peaceful circle if that makes any sense. Everyone was there for a good time and jumped and pushed but not to the point of crushing. I saw lots of smiling, sweaty people. Janes had a very energetic crowd too. I was impressed by how intense some of their fans are. Very cool. I left the pit without any "I hated that guy that...." stories.

Thank you.

Holmdel tomorrow

Thank you Trent for a fucking crushing show!

Saw Irvine, and now this. Tomorrow, Holmdel where my girl and I can shake your hand and say thank you in person.

You guys were fucking great tonight. Ive got the whole show filmed to prove it (albiet a little shaky - man I need a steady cam).

The setlist was fantastic.

You guys all played your fucking asses off tonight.

RYAN GEE:

The photos above are fucking great.
Are you related to Mike Gee?? Another photographer and NIN fan and old friend of mine that was actually AT the orig Lolla with me but Ive lost touch with him.

Fuck you to the guy that pushed their way up to 4th row over the seats and stole someone elses seats only to act clueless when they came back and they you finally had to go. But not before you just stood there crowding everyone cause they were too scared to move you. Oh, and I saw you attempt it again later to no reward. I would have removed you myself if you werent so fucked up and you didnt look like such an asshole that youd surely fucking turn it into a big WAR which would not only ruin my show, but possibly get us both removed. God I hate inconsiderate people.

Thanks to security for being alert to this all night.

06/06/09 12:25 AM

Fantastic setlist, great vibe, excellent performance. One of my favorites on this tour so far. Thanks again to the band and everyone involved in the EDLC donor program. What an amazing experience. A night I won't forget. Pix at flickr.

06/06/09 1:02 AM

This was my second show of the Wave Goodbye tour and I appreciate Trent's efforts in mixing it up and changing the set list every night. This was a very different show from the one I saw a few weeks ago: March of the Pigs showcased Trent & Co. at the top of their game, and Mr Self Destruct (which I had never heard before in concert) was a pleasant surprise.

Since this may have been my last NIN show (unless I do Nimes), I chose to not take photos and record the show. I enjoy photographing and videoing as much as the next ninnie, but I didn't want my memories of my last NIN show to be filtered through a 3" LCD display. I have to admit I felt a little sorry for the $1000 fans onstage who were doing just that.

06/06/09 1:07 AM

Great show. It was nice to hear The Line Begins To Blur again live, I guess the first and only time I had heard it before was at my first NIN show in 2005. This time around it was even better.

You can't compare like that, they're not in the same band playing the same music, plus Robin is playing Trent's songs not his own.

Tom Morello is amazing, though.

06/06/09 1:21 AM

Luckily I've heard The Line Begins to Blur back in 06 because I missed it along with 95% of the rest of the show. I sat in traffic on my Friday. Thanks, Trent, just the same (=

This was my first NIN show and it was amazing. I brought a friend who doesn't really like nine, and even he was amazed by the performance. And why did janes make it seem like they left stage like twice during the set? That was pretty anoining. But it was an awesome night!

I will definitely catch them next time in Philly. Hope there is a next time...

The show = amazing. Highlights: TBOTE, Metal, Burn

The crowd was pretty lame...I'm definitely not a "you must know every nin song to be a fan" type of fan but at least stand the eff up and try to enjoy yourself (couldn't get pit tickets...I'm sure my experience would have been a bit better based on above responses...or I may have been knocked unconscious. I'll go with the former.)

My husband said something pretty cool - he's not a major nine inch nails fan, but came because I love them so much - I said "Are you having fun?" and his reply was "Definitely - it's amazing WATCHING THEM WORK." Never thought of it like that - but certainly true.

Agreed! I could only attend one date for this tour....I want to see all the set list changes!

i think this was my 7th show throughout the years...i have two more to go this tour.
i attended the M@G and it was very cool. trent is such a nice guy, never thought i would ever get to shake his hand.
I got to hear dead souls during the soundcheck and a year zero track.
I was impressed with SSSC and tom morello had the crowd excited.
nine inch nails kicked ass. was worth the rain and cold. the mistakes didn't bother me.
i've been a long time janes fan, but missed them cause the bf wasn't feeling good. but i'll get me chance at the next shows.

My 10th and final show did not disappoint. Trent's hug will remain with me forever.

Thank you again, Trent.

Blog to come soon.

This show was excellent, and the M&G experience was awesome. I just went to the Mansfield show two days before and was happy not to see much repetition in the setlists. I got to hear a few songs that I'd never heard live before. This was my first NIN show in the seats instead of the pit (I won the tickets in the twitter contest), but the crowd in my section was full of energy and great.

The meet & greet was really amazing; I got a significant amount of conversation in with each band member. I got the chance to thank Trent for music that has had such a huge effect on my life, and to tell him the story behind one of my NIN tattoos, and the reaction I got from him was awesome. This experience will stay with me forever. Thank you.

Saw the show last night with my beutiful girlfriend who is from Poland--yes, I turned her on to the NIN experience! Anyway, she is stoked for Trent & Cos. appearance in Posnan, Poland later this month...but with that...disappointed in the show. I have been a NIN devotee since 1989 when I saw them open for the Jesus and Mary Chain at the Trocadero in Philly. It seemed to me that for the "farewell" tour Trent was doing the stadium thing....you know...ratchet up the sound, play the stadium friendly anthems and give in to the Downward Spiral heads. Were was the nuance? The With Teeth tour--he played "Something I Can Never Have", "Hurt"....There is nothing more powerful to me than Trent on piano playing a "ballad" to a hushed crowed of 15,000....That's just me. And only one song from WITH TEETH? That is his last masterpiece! The last 3 CDs have a rushed feel to them--just not the high quality of his first 4 full-lenths(each of which took 5 years to make.) Okay, I am done my rant... I still love you Trent and look forward to hearing what your creative mind comes up with next. Thanks for everything. from your friends at the RMS MUSIC SOCIETY

06/06/09 7:54 AM

This was my 5th NIN show, and it was without a doubt the best. The setlist was fantastic, the crowd was really into the show, and I had a great view of things from where I was standing in the pit. I just woke up, so I won't be posting much now. I'll post a recap of yesterday sometime later.

The M&G was a truly wonderful experience. Everyone in the band was super friendly. Hell, everyone in the crew was, too (Brett, you're the man). It's good to hear that Eric is doing well after he had his procedure done, and I'm proud to have helped contribute to making that happen.

The show was unbelievable. Mr. Self Destruct absolutely blew me away. Metal, Physical, and the Big Come Down were very nice surprises that I wanted to hear but didn't think I was going to get to. That set took every ounce of energy out of me; I sat down thru most of Jane's, and I'm definitely sore today.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for just blowing me the fuck away.

Ans SSSC was fantastic...definitely wanting to hear more from them.

Fantastic set list and a great way for NIN to go out for me.

Edit: mscarr: I agree- the crowd around me (near the back of sect. 100) was really lame at the beginning of the show. My friends and I were the only ones jumping and singing and going nuts for a while, then other people picked up. I assumed the disinterested were Jane's fans...but then they didn't even stay for Jane's. I did, that however, love the couple in their 60's (easily that old) rocking out to NIN. They left too after the set, so they were definitely there for NIN.

WOW - Amazing show! Did the 1000 donor experience and it was everything we could have hoped for and more. Trent, the band and the staff (thanks for everything Keely (sp?)) genuinely wanted everyone there to have a great experience - it was all very heartfelt and truly amazing.

On our way to Holmdel now - I'm glad I have two more shows to see to help me come down from this remarkable experience.

Will be posting more details with pics about the EDLC donor experience over in the thread going on in the general discussion when we get home Sunday/Monday.

Carlos - great to meet you. Seth and I are so glad you had an awesome set list for your last show!

Skye - will get that pick of you and Robin to you on Sunday/Monday

Rick & Steve - hope the left side was as awesome as the right - what a night!

Bill - keep doing those push-ups and for the record...I coulda done 20 more. :-)
