i posted at ets so sorry if this is lame but i added a lil more for extra flair! w00.
---------------
i've been a fan for years but unfortunately this was only my 2nd NIN show but OMG it was great! Saw him back in Orlando during the With Teeth tour and this show blew that one away (even tho that one had pretty lights).
But wow the setlist was great and the ending of the becoming was probably my favorite part of the show when Robin came out with the acoustic and those chords just cut thru all the noise. I love the way he spanks the guitar but when he played the acoustic he had this lil sprinkler motion going and then BAM fuck you acoustic guitar SMASH... that was great... You definitely could see how pissed off he was when he was havin the guitar issues earlier. I loved how Trent was throwing shit around too, although for a sec I thought we might have a Chris Vrenna type head injury at any moment. I was on the right side about 8 rows back right next to the water. Good lawd was it breezy. I have some video I took with my shitty camcorder that died during Burn, so hopefully I can get those transferred to my hard drive soon. I also have a few pics (that sorta came out) as well as some video from that camera which isn't the greatest in visual quality but meh it gives you an idea of the songs and whatnot.
My only complaint was the so called JA fans who showed up right when Hurt came on. There were 5 seats in front of us vacant the entire show until that song and they bustled in all loud talking during hurt saying "oh he sings? i hardly know any of their songs"

and yea, it was a bittersweet moment during hurt. I really hope its not the last tour, cuz that would be a damn shame.

it was kinda funny to see the mass exodus of nin fans leave and the JA fans filter in. We stayed for most of that show but I was just too exhausted and windblown from the weather. I almost bought a NIN hoodie just to stay warm but they sold out! Good one merch people!

Btw anyone have one of those scrumptious $8 burgers? Oh god.
Sorry for the long post but wow it was a great time and I'm so glad I got to film some of it... memmmmmories

ps SSSC was damn good, i look forward to hearing the album.
'were not a band..... were a social cluuuuub.'

pss Perry is hilarious in between songs & bouncy... and Dave.. well Dave I wish I had your chest... is that wrong?

psp Oh and before the show while we ate our expensive gourmet meal we got to chat with a fellow Gator couple from Gainesville but sadly we forgot to catch your names! So if you're reading this, HI! thanks for helping pass the time smiling smiley

psp2 (sorry i just remembered this!) I forget which song it was during but Rob Sheridan happened to walk right in front of us and some girl came outta nowhere and praised him and took a pic of him. I got one pic of him as well (well his back and gigantic camera). It was cool seeing him though, he was like Waldo. Every song you'd see him lurking somewhere in the corner. Kudos to Rob Sheridan!

I'm glad I didn't pass up this opportunity to see the complete NIN set. (due to doing
all the cool donor stuff backstage at the Mansfield show) This setlist and the aggression
of the band on all the heavy songs blew my mind and brought me back to the old days
where throwing mic stands and smashing guitars was the norm.

That's pretty much all for now since I drove all the way back to Mass, and detoured
to work instead of sleeping for an hour... BLECH.

WOOT!! So glad I could accompany you to this show smiling smiley It was such a fucking blast. Great to see some completely different songs than the Mansfield set list. That was a treat for sure. Being on the water was absolutely breathtaking.....and when it got really chilly with the ice cold rain- literally breathtaking. I regretted not bringing in my jacket when I saw them selling those blankets. I knew that was a subliminal message. Will probably post more later. When my pictures are up on flikr I'll let you guys know. Mine seem to take forever to get into the forums.

Honestly....... It was so cool. I saw him kinda hanging back told my girlfriend to get the camera ready. I walked over to him wanting a hug going for a handshake/hug combo about to throw up from nerves........ Trent opened his arms said "hugs are ok" and that was it. Weren't supposed to have cameras yet and he still gave my girlfriend a smirk and held on long enough for her to take the picture.

Thank you Trent ........ This is appreciated more than you imagine

it's taken me a little while but here's a summary of what was a fucking amazing day....I did the $1200 package with four friends. Last show I saw was opening night of this tour in WPB.

6am: check my email, there's a message from NIN to show up at the venue no later than 1:45. We were three hours away and had planning on getting there before soundcheck around 4pm so it was a little bit of an oh-shit moment cause one person in our party had to bail. But how hard is it to find someone that wants to see NIN & Janes (and streetsweeper?) not that hard.

1:45 get the venue, park in the VIP area since we got there so early. (thanks venue people!) and joined the crowd of NINfans holding assorted items to be signed -- including two hardcore people with guitars.

About an hour later there was a NIN staffer with curly RED hair, who I will refer to as RED since I am horrible with names, who organized us into a line, got us checked in, gave us tickets and then put us in another line. One for $300 donors and one for $1000 donors. We waited a while in the sun (thank god for sunscreen) until the band arrived and they set up for the first meet and greet. We were finally let in as you could hear some of the bass and synth from I'm Afraid of Americans playing in the background. The $300 donors were let in first to do the meet and greet and the $1000 donors were split into two groups.

Our group was led backstage, past the trunks with the NIN logo and the Janes logos, past the catering area and we hung out for a little while posing for pictures. We were put in a back room -- looked like a dressing room in mid-80s beach decoration -- for about 5 minutes to wait for the tour manager -- tall guy with wristbands. He asks us to walk with him cause he hates the room and eventually we are standing by the tour buses. We were all joking that this was like NIN-Disneyland and this was our first ride. He answered our questions about the tour (not the much more difficult than LITS despite less technology, harder to make sure both bands get their full time, biggest screw up was the encore in WPB ) and we we also talked to one of the guys from Trent's management company. This part of the meet and greet was totally unexpected and everyone we talked to was amazing. It was like peeking behind the curtain. On the way back into the venue he let us sneak on one of the tour buses. Of course one of the lighting guys was trying to relax but he let us poke around and take some pictures.

It's our time to meet the band so we make our way to the M&G tents but it turns out everything is running a bit behind so RED marks our hands for a later M&G and we go to the soundcheck. Oh and since it was so hot they brought out some water for us during the Soundcheck -- as I said, nicest people on the face of the earth. Anyways, Justin comes out first -- dressed in his best beach concert outfit -- pink button down white jeans, red shoes and as Trent pointed out pink socks. The rest of the band comes out, Trent makes some more comments about the band's fashion -- Robyn was wearing some very cook black leather clogs with Cat in the Hat socks -- so after Trent's comments Robyn hikes up his pants and does the rest of the soundcheck with his socks showing. They did four songs during the soundcheck -- two highlights were SUCK, amazing and trent playing the finger piano thing. what was that?

After the soundcheck we went back towards the meet and greet tent. We had some pizza and salad while waiting for the Band. The Band came out again -- do they not get so freaking tired of spending so much time with us crazy fans? -- and did the meet and greet with our group. Of course the four of us were all a nervous mess. I think I muttered a "thank you for all the music" to Trent while he signed a 9" vinyl of march of the pigs. My friend patty had taken a polaroid of his tambourine stand behind the stage and had the band sign it. When she got to trent he looked at it and said "It looks kind of like a marital aid." After signing, they posed for pictures with us. They had a lot of people to get through so it was pretty quick but they were so cool about the whole thing. Meeting everyone was totally worth it.

After another piece of pizza we went to our seats (just to the side of the sound booth). we passed on watching from the side of the stage but how about those folks that got seats on the stage!?!?! That was great!

The show itself was awesome. Street Sweeper was pretty much the same as WPB but Boots had developed more of his tour schtick. "This is not a band this is a Social Club" "This is not a concert, it's a Meeting" I thought they were great in WPB and they were great again. Looking forward to their album.

NIN rocked. As other people said their set was heavy. Personal favorites was the Im Afraid of Americans-The Becoming-Burn-Gave Up section. It just did not let up. And Wish-Survivalism killed. Closing with Hurt was very cool -- especially since we missed it in WPB. I think I had a shit-eating grin on my face the whole time.

Jane's addiction was a party. NIN is my favorite band but there's a special place in my heart for Janes'. My first experience into "alternative" music was someone handing me a cassette tape of the live Janes Addiction album on Triple XXX records in 1988 as a freshman in high school. NIN shortly followed. So there's always been a special place for Janes and I had never seen then live. Thanks Trent for putting this togther. Mountain Song, Ocean size, Ted Just Admit it, Stop and Jane Says were also highlights. Perry is/was insane while being lucid enough to ask if the Laker's won before going into the encore. He also said here's something from 1984 before launching into Jane Says. 25 years old? goddamn I'm old.

finally got home around midnight. tired and sunburned but completely happy and at peace with the world. Thank you so much to the band and everyone involved in the show, especially RED for shepherding us around.

06/08/09 6:03 PM

Whoever is concerned about the nin show being stripped down: don't be. NIN rocked so fucking goddamn hard last night! Everyone around me had a case of the face melt. The lighting was incredible- even without the special production & lcd screens. They sounded better and tighter at JB than I can remember hearing them in my 8 prior shows over the past 10 years. It was a little strange hearing HLAH and other songs without a keyboard player- but they looped various samples and did a great job of replacing Alessandro by switching keyboard responsibilities throughout the set. Trent was on his 'A game' and I was glad to see him hurl his mic stand 15-20 feet up into the lights. I don't know what comes next Trent, but you sure closed the nin door on a high note. No "they should've played such and such" whiney bitches to report of either, unlike at Holmdel.

06/08/09 6:08 PM

Hey, does anyone have audio of the whole show? I have 640x480 video of the full versions of "Gave Up" and "The Downward Spiral/Wish" that I'd be more than willing to share (the raw, uncompressed files from my camera, that is).

06/08/09 8:10 PM

Tonight was definitely the better of the two weekend shows. Figures that we had 250 dollar golden circle tickets last night and poor seats tonight. Both bands were amazing.

This was probably the best show I have EVER seen NIN put on! Easily the best setlist, and maybe the most passionate performance. Loved the subtle touch of the screens going on at the same second as the climax of TDS.

I turned to my girlfriend after NIN and expressed that I didn’t envy Jane’s for having to follow that. They too seemed much more inspired than the night before. I loved Perry’s bantering and especially the band intros – Daaavvvvve. Three Days was missed the night before. Almost a religious experience.

Another horrible venue experience as you couldn’t exit and it was freezing and windy. I wonder how many people bought 75 dollar hoodies or 35 dollar hippie blankets they didn’t want, just to stay warm.

I have an XL Janes hoodie and small NIN hoodie for sale. E-mail Kolheiser @yahoo.com if you are interested

I'm dying to see the group photo taken of the $300 M&G greeters. If anyone has a link to it....please post or PM. My friend was the payee and was told he'd get an email but he's traveling from Europe and it will probably be several days before he gets to his email. I was lucky enough to have Trent with his arm around me and I need proof! Nobody believes me!

This show fucking ROCKED! I haven't seen a NIN show like that since the Self-Destruct tour. Unfuckingbelievable!!! Had a great time - even got to enjoy halo33's wiener. (Dude, seriously, has no one else made that joke? wtf?!) Had a blast tailgating, meeting folks and hanging with friends. The first time I saw NIN back in 91 I got pelted in the face with a cup of water, and at my last NIN show I got hit in the chest with a bottle of water.

Awesome.

Brad - I'm aspodijaspiepodweoding jealous and happy you got such a freaking kick ass pic!

Alexander - thanks for posting that. *sniffle*

Nah, no-ones come forward. I seriously lost it in a 2/3 minute gap, cos I remember taking my ticket out the camera bag to show a steward, hooked it back on to my belt then walked maybe 100 yards then noticed it'd fallen off. I ran right back but it was gone, so someone must have picked it up. The pre sale ticket stub inside has my name on it, and I'd rather have that back than the camera, it means so much to me. Fuck the photos, I can look at shots other people took on the interwebs, but I'd give a nut to get my ticket back sad smiley sad smiley sad smiley

06/09/09 7:43 AM

Gonna try to keep this short and sweet winking smiley but it was an eventful day to say the least....

M&G was a great experience. Had everyone sign 'THE SLIP'.

Was pretty nervous to meet TR, so I was like, stunned into silence when we went into the tent. Saw Rob on the way in...and he was hanging out there in the tent as well.
Met Robin and JMJ first, and I apologize, but all I was thinking of is 'I'm about to meet fucking TRENT REZNOR!' so I was a little distracted when talking to the both of them....said like 'Hi' and 'Thanks' and 'Have a great show', and that's about it.

When I got to Trent, I was able to get a few more words out of my mouth and formed them into an ACTUAL sentence (shockingly). I told him how much I've enjoyed every show I've seen so far, and how cool it is to be surprised every night by the set-lists. He asked how many shows I've seen, and said he'd 'try and pull a rabbit out of his hat' for me tonight (insert 'mini freakout' here)! Ilan was really nice, talked to him a little about THE NEW REGIME...said he's working on the 2nd album now. He fipped over my Slip CD and said he loves seeing what number people have.

We only had time for Brett to take a group photo (the band was late getting there), but luckily, Trent came right in and posed with me in the shot!! Yay! smiling smiley He put is arm around me (ahhhh...). Then he said, 'I'm surrounded by all the ladies...it's good to be the King'.

After that was soundcheck. Was psyched to see THE FRAIL & THE WRETCHED as well as BANGED & BLOWN THROUGH. Didn't get to see any of those live, (Trent said before B&BT, this is a 'Saul Williams song, I'll be playing the part of SAUL', lol). NON-ENTITY and SUCK were excellent. SSSC was next, the guys were all enjoying themselves, Tom Morello was jokingly giving everyone a hard time about holding up cameras the whole time...Boots forgot the words to one of the songs, but said 'I remember all the words on the album' smiling smiley . Carl had on a Janet Jackson, Rhythm Nation T-shirt (AWESOME).

The NIN set was hardcore...full of intensity. Was cool to see Robin smash the acustic. SOMEWHAT DAMAGED, THE FRAGILE and THE BECOMING were the highlights for me. (There has been a lot said about the set already, so I'll move on....)

Jane's was good, but it wasn't their best performance. Cool moment though, when Eric went and sat way up on top of the amps during SUMMERTIME ROLLS. Perkins didn't don the kilt this time at the end (bummer). Perry had a somewhat NORMAL outfit on this time around...but he was still dancing around like a monkey on crack (which pretty much RULES).

Anyway, memorable day all around!
Glad I got to meet so many of you there!! *hugs* smiling smiley

I really can't put into words how I felt during this show. I pretty much started crying during Head Like a Hole and didn't stop until Jane's left the stage. This was my last of 12 shows on this tour and I have loved every single second and did not want it to end.

06/09/09 8:52 AM

there's nothing left to say that hasn't already been said. the show was awesome and the meet and greet was fun. the only thing i have to add is the one question i asked trent. i figured he got a bunch of NIN related questions so i went another direction. i asked if he set a date for the wedding... he told me that they've been trying to figure that out and it could be as soon as october.

also, trent was gonna stand next to me for the group photo but i jokingly said "no, your short.. you have to stand in front"... so he moved his position. it was cool, justin seemed like he enjoyed that comment (standing next to me)

06/09/09 10:08 AM

and if you are one of the two really nice guys that let us share your seats in the front row during Jane's Addiction (before security made us leave after 3 songs), thank you SOOO much. I never got a chance to get your names. That was really awesome of you, I just wish we could have stayed the whole time! *shakes fist at security*
