I was yesterday evening at le zenith to watch nin, maybe for the last time in my life, and I'm still amazed about it, and even more about Trent himself!
Can you imagine that this guy, the leader of the greatest rock band so far, spent the entire show giving his own bottles of water to the fans?He was so careful and concerned about the crawd, that I almost couldn't believe it!
How many other artist in this world behave like this on stage, while playing? The security staff is usualy taking care of that, not to have to deal with too many colapsing or breaking down, but the guys on stage don't even pay attention.
He was so cute runnning to the rear of the stage to grab some bottles in between choruses, to give them directly to his thursty fans!
THANK YOU VERY VERY VERY MUCH for beeing such a great person, and my favourite entertainer and musician ever! love deborah

Set list :

1-Somewhat Damaged
2-Terrible Lie
3-heresy
4-March of the Pigs
5-Reptile
6-I Am Afraid of Americans
7-The Becoming
8-Burn
9-Gave up
10-La mer
11-The Fragile
12-Non-Entity
13-Gone, Still
14-The Way Out Is Through
15-Wish
16-Survivalism
17-Physical
18-The Day the World Went Away

19-Hurt
20-The hand that feeds
21-Head like a hole

Great show.. I was just expecting Now I'm Nothing (we had Somewhat Damaged last time), The downward Spiral and In this Twilight but i'm absolutly not disapointed.
It was the third NIN show I've been to so I knew what to expect but as always the begining of the show blew me away.. so much energy.. And Trent seemed to be in the show as if it was his first tour, jumping and screaming. Very humble with the band and the crowd, too.
the sound was perfect too (my seat was 4th row just in front of the stage)

I don't understand why people are bitching about the light show, it's simple, sober and it creates a good atmosphere..

Also, I'm very happy that Aaron North and Jeordie White are not in the band anymore.. everything is working perfectly with JMJ, Robin Finck and Ilan. I never liked Jeordie, JMJ and Robin are way better musician anyway..

To me the highlights of the show were Terrible lie, Reptile, I am Afraid of Americans, The Becoming, La mer, The Fragile, The Way Out Is Through and Physical.
it's also the first time I enjoyed Non-Entity
Ilan Birthday gift was funny.. no good taste but definitly original !
Trent seemed to be happy even if his voice seemed to be tired between (and only between) the songs.

The end was a little rough, everyone was expecting an encore after Head Like a Hole.
The crowd was pretty energic and into it..

The only bad point being the three cocksmokers in front of me who spent the whole show sending messages with their cell phone.. so pointless..
For each songs the girl was writting messages for two minutes and then dancing and acting like if she was having an orgasm.. ridiculous ! I even had to tell them to shut the fuck up at the begining of the way Out Is through as they were talking with their earplugs!! (Hooooh ta gueule !) this kind people are going to concert to show off, not to listen to the music.. that's what is ruining most of the shows now..

Hm.. It's just strange to realize that's probably the last NIN tour we'll have..
Trent Reznor is from far the greatest artist of the last 20years, humble, proud, original, always creating something different, true, he's not playing in the same world as others. Sadly he's probably the last one of this kind of artist. And Nine Inch Nails IS the best live band (in it's kind of music), we'll miss it.
But I couldn't have expected a better wave goodby.

please, PM me if you have good pictures/videos or audio of the show.

So, Nagao, I was saying, if it's about Trent voice, they should put more days between shows for him to recover. Rushing is useless.

Amazing show.
I agree tough, it was a little too short, and where was The Slip?
But that's a detail, the energy was here, and Ilan's birthday was so funny.

As it's probably the very last time i'm going to see the band I wish I could have caught them at the exit. I saw Rob though, very nice guy. (the dumb parisian girls with us were like "huuuh who's that" and i was like "whatever." )

Thanks to the band and the crew for the really good time ! Waiting to live again Ilan's bday on Vimeo

I can only agree with this.. and it seems that Trent is giving himself completly into each show no matter what rest he can have.. But, the longer the tour is, the more it costs money !
and i've just read last night's set list on echoing the sound and we had a very short and simple show compared to them.. now I am a very little bit disappointed.

The only thing I have to say is: thank you guys for this show I will never forget. I am crying in the front of my screen like an idiot, cause it's the first time I saw NIN live, and maybe the last. Trent's music is in my heart since 3 years, and I can't figure it's over. But this show was so amazing, and these pictures will stay forever. Again, thanx for all.

Hi,

I was at the meet and greet in Paris, it was awesome (even if it was very short)

Someone of the nin's crew had took a photo of all the 300$ donators with the band, did someone who was also at the meet and greet have this photo ?

Amazing.

I came 2 hours before the show started, i was 5meters away from the stage.
Mew was okay, the guitarist was really good, however not a fan of the vocals/lyrics. Love how everybody had their hands on their ears during the last song. The crowd during Mew was..dead. I really hoped that for NIN, the crowd wouldn't be the same. I was so excited when i saw the double bass on the stage, i knew that La Mer was going to be played. Finally, after the fog machine had been put on 5 times, Trent Reznor came in. With the fog and the fact that i could see him perfectly, i thought i was dreaming.Somwhat Damaged started, the whole crowd went wild, it was perfect. I was jumping everywhere screaming the words. Some people came out of the crowd because it was so agitated. At the end of the song, i was already full of sweat, ready to have a heart attack, my voice broken because of screaming the lyrics aloud. I really wondered if i would survive for an hour and a half.
Terrible Lie, Heresy, March of The Pigs we're crazy, the crowd was out of control, everybody screaming the words, beautiful. I'm Afraid of Americans then, and i felt like that iwas the only one that knew the song. All the people around me just stood there, arms crossed, while i was screaming the words. And here was my main problem, where i was was full of "pussies", people who just stood there, didn't move, didn't sing, didn't even cheer, just looked a you while you went nuts. Burn & Gave Up we're just like Terrible Lie & Heresy, except that i was shouting alone, whilst everybody looked at me like this "O.o". Then La Mer, beautiful, but still iwas wishing they would play Into the Void after it. The Fragile came after, and suddenly all the girls woke up. Non Entity was great, Gone Still was a good surprise, and then The Way out Is Through, excellent. Wish & Survivalism got the crowd going once again, however dissapointed that i was the only one screaming "Fist Fuck!" from where i was. Physical was a good surprise. The Day The World went away was perfect, i'm really glad they played it, it's one of my favorites, and it sounds so good live. Hurt came along, got the whole crowd singing along this time (yes, even where i was). And finally The Hands That feeds & Head Like A Hole we're fucking brilliant. The energy from the band and the crowd during those two songs. A guy in front of me who didn't move at all during the whole concert, just suddenly got all excited when it was Head Like A Hole and was jumping everywhere. It finished the show off perfectly. No need to ask for seconds. But weird thing is, i still had enough energy for another hour.

Sorry about my english, my repetitions, and everything all mixed up in one big paragraph, but i'm still in a state after the show. It's going to be hard to get over it. As many people said, this is my first and probably my last NIN show. But damn, it was worth it.
To make things short, there was energy and positive feedback from the crowd, Trent Reznor enjoyed the show (Which reassures me after he said "Is it bad that I want to go home already after one show in Europe?"winking smiley, and Ilan's birthday was hilarious. Only regrets? Why didn't i bring my fucking camera with me?

So sorry that the parisians always act like assholes at shows... Yes they speak during the songs, won't help you to move out of the crowd if you need it, and insult you if you dare say anything... Hope you didn't let them ruin your night !

Ouais, les gens dans le nord sont beaucoup plus sympa. winking smiley
I must say, i kept talking to my friend during Mew, but it didn't seem like it was disturbing anybody. But yeah, i agree, they never help people move out the crowd.
But fuck them, i came to see Nine Inch Nails and have a fucking great time, and i did. Why come to a NIN show if it's to just stand there watching them with no expression/emotion and still be upset with the people that around you.

07/09/09 6:28 AM

Actually, all the shows in paris look the same... Posers will stand still, insult you, chat with mates during the songs, complain it's all not good enough, try to steal your spot even if they arrived way after you, and won't mind hurting you if they can... Makes me shameful to be french !
But I saw a lot of people from abroad at the show, all of them so happy, smiling, dancing... So good to see people chill out and enjoy that amazing moment !

07/09/09 8:48 AM

All people doesn't like to jump or dance during live. I don't for example. It is not good or bad, it is the way I am. But for the concert in Paris, I was in bench for this reason. All people must live the concert like they want.

But for the chatters, there is no excuse !

I do agree that sometimes you don't feel like jumping, you just want to close your eyes and listen and keep your emotions inside. As long as everyone is happy and enjoying the show it's ok !

Saw the show in Paris--hadn't seen them since Barcelona in 2007. This stuff about the show being short went by me: I thought they were great and for a short show they covered a great deal of material. Very muscular performances, relieved by some truly impressive musical interludes. Hearing Physical for the first time was cool, but for me the highpoint was The Becoming, where Trent's keyboard reminded me greatly of Mike Garson.
The Parisian crowd (my first gig in that city) seemed lively but where I was there was little of the chat which characterises every gig in Dublin I've ever been to and threatens regularly to stop me bothering with live music altogether. But this show was really a triumph of the respect that can exist between musicians and audience.
The seating arrangement in the venue was bizzare, though.
Onward to the MEN arena, where I'll finally get to see Jane's. Can't wait.

Because, I have nothing more better to say than all the previous entry.

"Dear Trent,
I was at your show last thursday and you make me feel alive during 2 hours.
This gift is priceless.
I will use it wisely.
See you soon"

Dawn great show, the kind that makes you buy a guitar/synth/whatever and start a band...

Nine Inch Nails @ Zenith, Paris (3 songs)
- [00:00] March of the Pigs
- [04:16] I'm Afraid of Americans
- [09:40] The Day the World Went Away

07/10/09 7:06 AM

sorry, parisiens, but this was the worst of four shows i've seen on this tour so far. even if ilan became older, the people sometimes looked like they don't know any song. NIN rocked their heart out for nothing. i was happy to see more shows cause this should not be my last one.

For all those who said the show was cut short. The $1000 donors were allowed to watch the show from on stage and we could see the original set list:

Somewhat Damaged
Terrible Lie
Heresy
March of the Pigs
Reptile
The Becoming
I Am Afraid of Americans
Burn
Gave Up
La Mer
The Fragile
Non-Entity
Gone, Still
The Way Out Is Through
Wish
Survivalism
Physical
The Day the World Went Away
Hurt
The Hand That Feeds
Head Like a Hole
Echoplex
Dead Souls
In This Twilight

According to NIN's manager all the guys had family there that night, so I guess they cut the show short a bit.

Shame. I would have loved to see Dead Souls live, and it would have made at least one song from The Slip.
Wasn't there Suck too?

It would have been awesome to hear the three last tracks.
I mean, they already performed Dead Souls in 2005 and it is a very good song
live. Moreover, like many people I prefer the old stuff (from PHM to TF), even if
there is some good "new" stuff (e.g. : In This Twilight, Echoplex...).

I understand that the guys wanted to see their families. People tend to forget
that the 4 guys are humans just like us. Maybe it is quite strange to say that, but too many people seem to see Trent as a godhead or something. It is only the drawback of fame I guess.

But, on the other hand, the fact that they did not play the 3 last songs is not fair for the crowd and there is one other thing I want to mention regarding setlists :

they are great but I do not understand why Trent does not want to perform some bunch of songs (And All That Could Have Been, Ripe with Decay, I'm looking forward to joining you finally...).
When you think of it is quite strange, because NIN is a live band as opposed to bands which are only studio bands (Ulver for instance). In that way, every track should be played live. So, it is weird to read on this forum that Trent and co haved played Piggy remix and not Sunspot for instance. I just don't get it.

But, it is just my viewpoint and in any case I does not change my mind on the show which was great.
