Great show @ Oxegen 09. saw Maccabees, White Lies, Katie Perry, The Ting Tings, Janes Addiction, & NIN.

This is the song list that NIN played (I think), may have them mixed up, so let me know...

1. Intro - HOME -------------------------------- WITH TEETH (HALO19-2005)
2. 1,000,000---------------------------- THE SLIP (HALO27-2008)
3. TERRIBLE LIE------------------------- PRETTY HATE MACHINE (HALO02-1989)
4. DISCIPLINE--------------------------- THE SLIP (HALO27-2008)
5. MARCH OF THE PIGS-------------------- DOWNWARD SPIRAL (HALO08-1994)
6. SOMTHING I CAN NEVER HAVE------------ PRETTY HAT MACHINE (HALO02 1989)
7. THE BECOMING------------------------- THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL (HALO08-1994)
8. THE BIG COME DOWN-------------------- FRAGILE (HALO14-1999)
9. BURN--------------------------------- DOWNWARD SPIRAL DELUXE EDITION (HALOO8DE-2004)
10. WISH--------------------------------- BROKEN (HALO05-1992)
11. THE HAND THAT FEEDS------------------ WITH TEETH (HALO-2005)
12. HEAD LIKE A HOLE--------------------- PRETTY HATE MACHINE (HALO02-1989)
13. ENCORE - HURT-------------------------------------- DOWNWARD SPIRAL (HALO08-1994)

Did anyone else notice the NIN drummer helping out with keyboards during the show with songs like the chorus for 'March of the Pigs', and all of 'Something I can never have'. Trent did alot of the keybords also i.e. 'The Becoming'. Alot of multi-tasking.

Trent introduced Robin Finck, Alessandro Cortini, and himself, but not the drummer with black long purmer curly hair. No Aaron North, Jeordie White, or Josh Freeze.

Trent also said that they were all going on to do 'different things'. Sound bad, doesn't it......

People will be upset that 'closer', 'eraser', 'reptile' or nothing from the 'year zero's was played, however, it does mean that the set list really covered everything from 1999-2008) albums, but people will be upset, what can ya do?

But over all, it was, in my opinion a great 'pound for pound, 65 minute set list', no????

I think they didn't play closer and other songs because they didn't have the whole gang of proper people to do them, especially whan the drummer was multi-tasking....

Highlight for me was 'Something I can never have', Hurt', and March of the pigs'..... Delighted with the set list.... Also 'Terrible Lie' was unforgetable....thumbs up

But there will definately be some people a bit disapointed with 'closer' not on the list, and rightly so.... eye rolling smiley

Take care NIN massive, hope ye enjoyed the show... where ever ya went. Could be last one in Ireland 4ever ...... confused smiley

P.s - I don't mean to come across to ye being too cleva, I only but the album and years after the songs, just to show the diversity of the set list, like from, 1989 to 2008, WOW.... plus 'Home' was the perfect intro, that howling guitar from Robin Finck...... smoking smiley

My NIN, NAAS, Oxe09, thoughts out loud:

As for pillheads at the show, i saw a few, but they were on their own mission. This is only my own opinion, but, there was alot of them for the 'White Lies' bit. Just an observation..... HaHa...

It was hilarious to see how security dealt with crowd disturbers, 4-5 blokes were washed away in a tide of yellow-clad security heavies, problem gone in a flash, but 5 minutes later they were back!!!! Class, happy they weren't kicked out, but they were reformed, MAN!!!!

One bloke, tall, thin, 40-45yrs, grey-black dreadlocks and goatie, didn't go as easy and got the full VIP treatment, never saw him again???? Were you HIM!!!!!!!! Did anyone else see him (during the 'White Lies' bit..)

THOUGHTS:

I absolutely loved the showmanship of Perry Farrell!! He was a breath of freash air, really....

A female fan from the crowd threw a bra at him, perry said 'ain't no use without the tits in 'em'. He really was interactive with the crowd, and made use feel that he really was thrilled to be here (unlike 'Blur').

He joked about being an honoury Irish man (must be with a name like that? No?), acts of simulation, he loves 'Jameson', although it took the NIN crew 10 minutes to clean it off the floor!!! HaHa..

I left a firm fan of JA, and loved 'Caught stealing' and 'Chip Away'. Dave Navarro was class.... Next time, I will go with black gloves, neck scarf, and shirtless!!!!! Sorry folks I might!!!!!!

The Ting Tings were brilliant, wow, still in shock......... katie White!!!

White Lies song, 'There's no place like home' was very memoriable... realy impressed with their gig..

Also Katy Perry was good, but i felt sorry for her then most of her crowd flocked away in the downpour, and i'm sure her gig only lasted 25 minutes, was maybe cut short... C'est la vie...

But for me, NIN ruled again, and i am amazed that TR played 'Something I can never have', and 'The Becoming'. It was an honour to be there..... What a special event, in its own right.... some people i met there couldn't believe Trent played the 'heroin song' HaHa, suppose its not funny if your on it......

I also left with a bit of vid-footage.. hush..... about an hour...... 'i've died and gone to heaven'.

Very interested to find out what set list was done for trents other past gigs i.e. T in the park, manchester etc or even in North Americano!!!. Anyone help me on that?????

I hope, NIN's break-up won't be for long, but i suppose to all ye fans who did go to the festival .... 'we'll always have NIN Oxe09'.

Also, to the fans going elsewhere, enjoy, that will be a one off too. Soak it all up and make the most of it....

Ya Julian, I bought the teeth album in Galway last year, along with an Enya album. You know what the clerk said to me? .. 'weird combination man', well that sums up me musically....eye popping smiley

I was secretly hoping to here 'the line begins to blur', and 'the collector'from the Teeth album, but Terrible lie, something i can never have, burn, wish and the becoming, was a good trade off.

Also, looking at the 20 song gig at Manchester, Trent didn't play 'something i can never have; 1,000,000; the big come down; there was more stuff from the fragile album.

Would have loved to have heard 'Gave up'. To me, 'Home' was an amazing intro with that wailing guitar from Finck, Oxe09 was special if only for that intro, sicnh, and the becoming. Not to mention 'hurt', and 'march of the pigs'.

It was a small set, but it had some crackers in it. I have a list of Man09 at bottom.

I suppose, i'll always have NIN as my No.1, but i'm going to get more into Perry Farrell and the JA gang... will see em again.

Ps. JC, i took vid footage of the Katy Perry (1 song), Ting Tings (4 songs), JA (Two songs- whores, & caught stealing), & NIN (6 songs - Home, 1,000,000, Terrible Lie, March of the pigs, Something i can never have, and half of the song 'the becoming').
I'm new to all this tag & picture stuff, and have set up a flickr account. Slow process...

Yes, there was no Aaron North or Jeordie White because they both left the band in 2007... No Josh Freese either because he left the band last year. Trent didn't introduce Alessandro Cortini at the show because he also left the band last year. Also, Trent did introduce the drummer, his name is Ilan Rubin by the way.

No, it's because Trent said that he didn't want to keep playing greatest hits tours, so he decided to leave Closer out this time round for that reason.

No, the crew were pouring Coca Cola on the stage and wiping up with towels, they repeated it a few times. It was to make the stage floor sticky to improve shoe grip and therefore slip proof.

Yes, I'm afraid we all can't have the observational skills of a standard human. This is a personal shot at Lily if I'm not mistaken, I may be however because of your incredibly poor grammar. Releasing personal information such as your name or various other attributes of your being aren't a necessity on the internet, so it's hardly cowardly. Just because you act a little more outgoing than other people does not mean that you are better than them.

vincewega posted:
Taking pot shots in the dark, ya, real couragious, unonymously, no one knows who they are,

Are you trying to say that you'd respect a person's opinion on the internet more if they had the apparent courage to bear a little bit more about themselves to people on the internet, especially the ones who challenge you? You're trying to say that people who don't want to share a little bit about themselves are cowards? Well I propose this to you. Why should I bother posting pics of myself and starting posting info about myself on the internet? I have an opinion and a username, that's all I need. Decorating your profile like you have isn't a necessity. Revealing your identity has nothing to do with the integrity of a person's character in these situations, And I'm frankly a little disgusted at you for thinking otherwise.

These people don't have to get on with anyone, and really haven't truely, committed to the spirit of the forum, and hence, have nothing to lose by picking off other members at random.

Anyway Numina, you should be able to see that side of the issue, regarding (blank) profile members.... no commitment...

09/05/09 7:14 PM

This was my first time seeing NIN at a festival, so I wasn't sure what the crowd would be like. How lucky were we that everyone was up for a good time! Danced throughout, apart from Something I can never have, which COMPLETELY drew me in. I've always longed to see that live (17 years of longing). I don't think I had a physical form for that song.

Thank you irish people for giving me such a fantastic time! You're such a welcoming and open culture (and my god, can you drink!).
Such a great vibe at that fest.

I was amazed to see a blonde lass in stilettos walking through the mud during Jane's. Hardcore fashion!
I saw the grey long haired bloke too! He was stood next to me after coming out of the squished crowd. I thought he was great - was so into the music.

Thanks to the strange guy who scratched the mud off my nose during nin. Haha. You made me jump when you grabbed my nose!

And could someone send NIN to me please, I'm missing them live.

I recorded the whole of Hurt on my mobile, and I use it as my ring tone now, cool???

I feel privileged to have been to NIN in my home country for what could be the last ever world tour, and honored that Trent paid tribute to his Irish NIN faithful..

It will live with me forever, and I truely do feel like I had been anointed to the NIN brotherhood that day in 2009 July....
