Sadly my first NIN gig and probably my last.

What a night, and what a set. Shame no Closer, but still stunning.

I'm so pleased i finally got to see Trent and the guys, and its been a great night to wave goodbye.

07/14/09 5:34 PM

Awesome. Simply Awesome.

Don't know if Trent will read this but did you jump or slip/fall during the second song? I forget what was playing lol and are you OK if you did.

Agreed on Closer, thought that would be a dead cert. Again memory's a little fuzzy as I was going mental but there was no Slip tracks played either. I was really looking forword to hearing Discipline as well.

Again, I'm just so happy I finally got to see Trent and the boys and the genius that he is.

Chris

Amazing show. Just back home. Some highlights of the night ...

[Opening the show with] Somewhat damaged
Heresy
March of the pigs
Piggy
The Becoming
I'm afraid of Americans
The day the world went away

The rest of the set was rather similar to what they have been playing so far. Sound was great, the band tight as usual. The audience responded well - except perhaps for the wankers who keep chatting through the songs they are not interested in, i.e. La Mer

I don't know if this is my last ever, if so, it was a great way to say goodbye.

07/14/09 5:40 PM

Amazing in every way, an excellent show - even my none NIN/Rock fan brother who I took along was impressed.

We only caught two JA songs though, due to work, but, none the less - a fantastic, must see performance by NIN.

07/14/09 5:42 PM

loved every second of it, my first and possibly last NIN gig.

Shame about closer and discipline but the set list made up for it in spades, especially Metal and TDTWWA!

07/14/09 5:52 PM

Good setlist and sounded tight. Would love it if you could come to the Manchester Apollo though.

I hope you enjoyed the crowd - we enjoyed you!

07/14/09 5:52 PM

Amazing show, best gig ever! Set list was perfect, somewhat damaged was the perfect opener. Got ipod and fragile lithograph signed by the band, all they guys are great! Everyone I met was awesome, and if you're reading it was nice meeting you! Ears still buzzing, sound was amazing! What a performance, from all 3 bands!

07/14/09 5:54 PM

Not in that exact order but near enough, from memory confused smiley

Best I've ever seen them play, setlist was awesome, famous ones, not so famous ones, covers, loud ones, quiet ones, it had everything!!!

Highlights would have to be Metal and The Way Out Is Through, so good!!!!!

I'm gonna miss doing this sad smiley

You guys rocked, thank you!

07/14/09 6:04 PM

Just got back from Manchester. OH MY GOD, what a way to go out. With thanks to Mews as the warm up, Jane's Addiction kicked 90's butt and NIN did a fantastic job of a memory for life.

Loads of fab people about and loads of people happy to talk and chat about anything and every thing. It was great.

Saw Kristan Morrison twice and she was looking hot! In a fabulous black jacket and what only looked like a chain mail skirt. One can only ask, was it lined or did she get a cold backside?

Every one did an amazing job of a well worth it night out.

So what, no Closer. Does it matter, he did a Gary Numan - Metal and a David Bowie - I'm Afraid of Americans.

Hay if you really want to make a fuss - no Starfuckers.

07/14/09 6:20 PM

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Could NOT have asked for a better set!!! Absolutely awesome night!!! - Can't wait for Sonisphere smiling smiley. Really amazed at how organised/orderly everything was in respect to the presale ticket holders... Again -Thanks!!

07/14/09 6:24 PM

I have almost lost my voice and my legs and arms are killing me but was worth it!!
I knew it would be good but fucking hell it was awesome from start to finish.
Thought we might get a longer encore but thats life I suppose.
Highlights for me - Heresy,The Becoming & The Way Out Is Through.

07/14/09 6:28 PM

Just got home, had a great time. Amazing set. A fair bit on there I hadn't heard before, and some songs I just never expected.
I shot a load of video (about 4gb). Got La Mer and The Fragile (killed my arms holding the camera up for 9:30 but its worth it). Also got the full Hurt. Got bits of many other songs, and I plan on splicing them together into a small montage.

Videos include:
Burn
Gave Up
Head Like A Hole
Heresy
Hurt(full)
La Mer (full)
Fragile (full)
March of the Pigs
Somewhat Damaged
Survivalism
Terrible Lie
The Becoming
The Day The Whole World Went Away
The Hand That Feeds
Wish

I'll get them on YouTube ASAP.

07/14/09 7:05 PM

Well that went with a bang didn't it?

Stunning set list (yeah yeah yeah no Big Come Down etc) but totally the business.
I held off the pit for the first 20 minutes but gave in (up) and entered - who put the knuckle-dragging slack-jawed neanderthal in the hoodie in charge? I've a broken rib cause of that dick! and why did people pick him up when he went down? I was going to go back and have a breather, but got to the third row, in front of TR, and thought 'No I'm stopping here'. The pit was a tad vicious at times but the tunes (especially Heresy and ...Americans) made the H1N1/ blokes smelling of hamsters X 7 situation very bearable. Nice to see so many smiley faces during the show and at the end.

It's sad to come to the end but all the memories from all the shows live on!

p.s. the skank who nicked Netti's top...BURN!!!

07/14/09 7:15 PM

Right, back from the gig. Oh my fucking god. What a blinder.

I've got the setlist in the proper order (was texting them to my jealous mate who wasn't able to come along), so here we go:

Somewhat Damaged
Terrible Lie
Heresy
March of the Pigs
Piggy (album version, with bonus vocals from random crowd guy)
Metal
The Becoming
I'm Afraid Of Americans
Burn
Gave Up
Short piano improv into La Mer
The Fragile
Gone, Still
The Way Out Is Through
Wish
Survivalism
Suck
The Day The World Went Away
The Hand That Feeds
Head Like A Hole
Encore break
Hurt

It was great to see the guys from the Consulate and the Irish lot who dropped by to see the Travelodge Group from the Consulate.

(p.s. I will also admit seeing La Mer actually had me crying a bit in parts. So beautiful.)

07/14/09 7:59 PM

Um, i don't really have anything to add except that it was one of the best gigs of my life and Jane's Addiction were awesome as support.

I also think i managed to convert a friend or 2 to ninfandom.

07/14/09 8:03 PM

Well that just rocked.

Typing now because the aching in my arm from being trapped in an odd position all night in the pit is telling me that by the morning it will be out of action...

High points:
I'm Afraid of Americans
Burn
Piggy
Wish
The Hand That Feeds
Head Like a Hole

Shame about the soundcheck (perhaps that was where the Slip/other YZ songs would have made an appearance?), but meeting the guys/the production tour were more than worth it.

The show was tinged with sadness that there may not be a next time, but after having all but given up on the hope of ever seeing NIN live only a few years ago, to have been able to see them a few times now has been very special.

Finally, re. Ilan's twitter: Ilan, Manchester thought it was rather awesome too.

Thank you for everything, NIN smiling smiley

07/14/09 8:27 PM

I'll leave everyone else to post vids and pics as mine arent having it... second NIN gig, and while it wasn't AS special as my first for obvious reasons, it was A LOT better performed I thought, fealt a lot more vicious and intense, everything he did reeked of intensity, and for that, trent, I LOVE THEE MORE!!! AWESOME GIG!

I thought METAL, Terrible Lie and the extremely piano/synth/metally version of The Becoming were the definite highlights... and maybe survivalism, as to me, it sounded miles better than on record!

It's watchable, but is still processing so not available in HD yet. Should be ready by the morning. I've also used the tag code thingy so it should link to the video gallery on here.

Great show grinning smiley
I think it's bed time now!

07/14/09 11:09 PM

First show that i've seen NIN play and i've got too say it was pretty fucking epic! Really enjoyed myself and enjoyed Jane's and Mew. Thank you guys!

07/15/09 12:16 AM

agree with everyone else, was an awesome gig, loved the setlist, already figured they wouldnt play Closer as its been dropped for most of this tour iirc, but didnt miss it anyway.

great that they played Heresy, Burn and Im Afraid of Americans.

Mew were pretty good, gonna have to check there stuff out now, and JA were cool, Dave's still every inch a guitar hero that he was back in the 90's

07/15/09 12:34 AM

My first ever proper gig in a large venue let alone NIN gig... and was completely blown away.
Have been a massive NIN fan for years and only just had the opportunity to go to a gig and was even more impressed, shame that it's drawing to a close.
Took along a friend who wasn't familiar with NIN and even she commented on how tight a performance they did.
Definitely a moment to remember. smiling smiley

07/15/09 1:19 AM

wow, that was a bit special wasn't it?

What a set list...probably the best i have seen nin! loved it...and Jan's kicked ass too!

07/15/09 2:36 AM

What an amazing gig, full of (im gonna go out on a limb and say) just for fan stuff, Im afraid of americans, heresey, and gone/ still.
Thanks Photom your video is amazing, any other decent recordings out there?

Well i paid 20 for a T- shirt and that was about the base price for them. From what i can remember, it went from 20/25/30/35 - 40 (not sure bout the last 2.) Bag i think was 40. Posters and stickers was about 3 quid.
