NIN have so many songs, you cant expect Trent to play everything. I'm pretty spoilt because I have seen NIN a lot so I have seen the majority of the songs played live, apart from we're in this together now.

I think its pretty cool that the set lists get changed around for every show they play and I love the fact that they played I'm afraid of americans because its one of my favourites...

You can't please everyone and everyone is going to moan about something.

The security were not morons. They were doing their jobs, maybe strict at times but its just their job.

no real complaints really. a fan of about 15 years and more, but first time seeing them ever because i've only moved here for about two years so far – where i'm from, nin had never tread (but they finally will this august).

would have loved a longer set (really greedy here) and maybe a more engaged crowd in the front at times (probably just where i was). but everybody near me was really great. friendly and responsible, reacted to the music just about enough, and they hollered along to the songs.

here's my little contribution. click on my channel to see even more poorly recorded ones – in HD too! sorry for the 'violent' camera. just couldn't resist banging away. :\

Yep, thanks to Janes for playing a tiny gig at midnight to 300 people : those of us who can't drop everything, have jobs, and kids, and responsibilities simply cannot run away from all that at 5 minutes notice, queue all day outside some tiny club, then get home at 2am on a weeknight.

What's wrong with playing a proper, planned headline gig of your own?

Brilliant show and the Numan guest appearance was long awaited - its 30 years since Cars this year - Numan's planned a set of shows in the UK this year playing The Pleasure Principle album in full - get to one if you can!

The lights for the gig were pretty annoying - still have retinal burn. But more so was having to wait for a full HOUR in the rain outside to pick up my pre-sale tickets and also being restricted to just 2 tickets so that our group of 4 was split up on the night. NIN have played the UK so infrequently it would have been good to have more shows - sort it out Trent! I think the O2 is great acoustically unlike many other London venues so that was a bonus.

You can also find the setlist here:

Roll on Sonisphere...

hey there mould - yes 4 tickets for pre-sales would be appreciated rather than 2.

That was an epic gig. We were very far away but it was my first Nine Inch Nails gig and nothing could spoil it!
Was also very impressed with Jane's Addiction and Mew.
I've been to a lot of gigs and I can say this is up there with the best few I have ever seen!

Here's a link to the album on my facebook account for a few of my favourite pics from the night.

you didn't have to queue all day,we got our laminated tickets at 15.00 and had to be back before 21.30.

and i personally thank jane's for doing this, they didn't get paid, they just wanted to play for a small but very enthusiastic audience that went completely crazy.

jane's=party!!

Just wanted to add my appreciation to the guys for mine and my boyfriend's first NIN gig. I bought two standing tickets for his 30th birthday and we damn well enjoyed it.

The O2, in our opinion, was quite good. No waiting outside, decent food and drink (compared to most other venues that charge the same price for poor quality crap). We weren't too bothered about getting in early so we had a few pints with our two friends who got god tickets (seated). Went to the F entrance and within two minutes of getting to the back of a long queue, a lady said if we went to another door, we could get in quicker. I did feel sorry for those that queued for ages sad smiley Managed to catch two songs from Mew.

The Good

The venue - clean, plesant, and staff we came across were polite.
JA - Their energy was awesome, set wasn't too bad in my opinion
NIN - Don't really need to say much, from what I saw, they all looked happy like pigs in shit. Sound was great. Like some people commented, intimate gigs feel better, but I'd rather have one larger gig of top notch quality than 10 intimate gigs of exhausted band.
Gary Numan - I echo what everyone else has said. Might go and see him at the end of the year as he's touring grinning smiley

The Bad

Pizza Express - had to wait over 30 minutes after them taking our order before they told us that they'd started cooking it. Granted it was busy, but they had huge ovens.
Random girl - wearing this flowery type dress, looked quite dolled up for a gig and out of place. I've got nothing against being individual, but I doubt she would have looked good at the end, it was damn warm in the pit
6"1,000,000' blokes - I saw about the last 10 minutes of the gig with my own eyes as I had 3 huge blokes infront of me. Again, it's not a complaint, they can't help having lovely long legs, but they didn't even move/jump/sing/mosh/be like the rest of us loonies until Hand That Feeds was played.
The crowd - To us, it seemed a bit tame. Maybe most were expecting the more known tracks, who knows. There was also one couple near us that just talked throughout the whole gig, why?!!
Camera's - I wasn't sure whether I could get my half decent camera in, so bought a pocket sized one, only got asked if I had bottles or cans in my bag. Oh well smiling smiley
Missing - the great stuff on stage. I'm reading about it all and feel gutted I missed it.

The Ugly

Withdrawal - Post gig depression
Illness - morning after I was sick, and now have flu, worth it though!
The First, last, everything - Our first NIN gig, after missing / not having the money / time off work, that will probably be our last, but what a gig to remember.

On a side note (to stop waffling on), the girl who posted a pic of her eye liner sin make-up, that's awesome!

Right, I think that's it!! (sorry it's a bit long..)

er, the person with the sin eyeliner was a chap.
he was a few places in front of me in the pre-sale que and i was admiring his handywork myself!

Does anyone know where I can find Mews set list? Only heard their latest album, and wasn't overly keen, however live I thought they sounded pretty good (maybe they are just better live)? Either way wouldn't mind finding out which songs were played.

I've just been having a quick scan thru this thread & I agree with what most people have said, it was an amazing gig! Seeing Jane's Addiction was a buzz then NIN were on top form, then having Gary Numan join them after I'm afraid of americans got me in a total flux (screamed myself hoarse grinning smiley)

theboymitchell - what shit situation for you, I'm glad you stuck up for yourself, twats like that should be banned from gigs cos they're just like football hooligans angry smiley

For anyone still grumbling about the O2 - can't we just consider ourselves lucky that we actually got the O2 & MEN gigs when the rest of Europe just got festivals?! Most of the stateside NIN gigs are in that size arena's anyway.

Ah anyway, I loved it and so did my step-daughter (she even bought me a present the day afterwards as she loved it so much) so thanks to all of the NIN camp smiling smiley

It was great to meet up with so many of the crowd I've met on here/the spiral - I love you guys and it made the whole experience even more memorable xx

Does anyone know what Synth Trent is using this tour? The one that got thrown off stage twice smiling smiley

Oh, here's some pics and a review : Nine Inch Nails / Jane's Addiction o2 Review

As for the Jane's secret gig, what do you think I do in the days so I can buy tickets for gigs? The thing that stops me spending hours queing outside a venue with barely a minutes notice. Wonder what that is.

07/18/09 6:30 PM

How full was the 02? the MEN had a huge part of the upper teir curtained off!

07/18/09 8:49 PM

This was the first NIN gig I have actually been able to attend despite being a fan from way back in the beginning, and it didn't dissapoint. From the doors opening everything was perfect except for the price of the beer. Mew were great, Jane's Addiction were as entertaining as always and Trent and the boys just blew me away.

The set list was great, and it was gutting when everything came to a end, made me realise that if I wasn't so fucking slack in the past when it came down to purchasing tickets I would of seen my favorite band more than once, still, this is one gig that will stay with me for a long time.

A nice surprise to see Gary Numan sing Metal and Cars.

A quick message to Trent and anybody else who made the gig possible and may be reading this, Thank you guys.

I'm Afraid of Americans

(sorry the sound is not the best, and it;s a little shaky, but that is just because I couldn't stay still during such a awesome song!)

I think it was pretty much sold out, or near enough to. Check out some footage on youtube. I was on the upper tier so I had a pretty good view of the entire venue.

I'm sorry but who are you to judge a person on what they are wearing to a gig. So what if she was dolled up for the gig? It's her choice at the end of the day and Im sure everyone is aware that they will look like shit after being in a mosh pit.

Here's my HD video of Burn. I caught the end of I'm Afraid of Americans too and Trent pushing the keyboard off the stage!

Burn

I'll put my video of Metal up soon and a couple from Jane's Addiction.

Oh, and here's a short video of the NIN logo on one of the LED screens outside the O2. I nearly peed myself when I saw them!

When you have to scrabble this much for slightly bizarre bad points, you know it's been a great gig overall!

Utterly immense gig! Looks like folks managed to get some great video, which I might try to edit into a multi-camera record of the whole show if I can find a decent audio recording to sync it all up to. This could take a while smiling bouncing smiley

Hey, good one! I was thinking of trying something like this myself. A good audio recording is holding me back though. Does any even exist?

Not that I've found yet, but there must be one out there somewhere....

Hopefully, it would make sense that there is one out there - There are a fair amount of decent recordings from other NIN/JA shows on various sites so it's likely there is one the o2 gig. I was trying to stitch together some audio from youtube videos but its hard to find anything of a high enough quality. That and there are not videos of every song played haha

Good luck with the project though, will be awesome if/when it gets completed.

I wasn't judging them, just pointing out that wearing a short dress could be a bad thing, as I had said I got nothing against them being an individual.

Someone mentioned there was someone wearing flipflops, doesn't seem to be a wise choice, as I (personally) think the same with wearing a short dress, eg jumping up and down and a very crowded area..

I should have explained myself better - I blame not reading what I type and flu, sorry.

You have a strangely bitter view on secret/surprise gigs!

JA have been playing 'proper, planned' gigs for decades. The secret gig format is excellent - it provokes a bit of excitement within the fanbase - it's something different. For every 1 secret gig that a band like JA play, there are about 50 planned/scheduled dates. Can't really complain about that, can you?

70-80% of people on here have responsibilities. Having jobs, kids, etc isn't a hinderance, but not being able to drop everything for a last minute gig is a price you pay! I think it goes without saying that secret gigs aren't accessible to everyone - hence the name. You sound like you're being discriminated against or something.
