We just made it back from the show (that's my wife and me). I have difficulty to find the words to describe it.
Although, i love NiN i went to the gig expecting a ,more or less, "professional" gig. We go out, play our songs, leave the scene after 1 hour, that's it.How far from the truth was i, i know now. They stayed on stage close to 2 hours and played an amazing setlist (which i can't recall here to put on). They were simply fantastic.
Anyway, one of the best gigs i've been too in a really long time.....

I totally agree with ulysses08.
The waiting was totally worth it. From 96 when i became a huge fan of this contemporary Mozart, Trent Reznor. A Perfect show with the most perfect sound. I'm so delighted that Trent says goodbye at his peak. He is a fantastic perfomer

Thanks Trent for the experience

I'm still in awe of what happened, I'm still numb from the experience. It was simply perfect. The setlist was AMAZING. I'm too tired to write many stuff, but I'll say one thing. Even though I went on my own, I met the most amazing people there and Dave Navarro made this night even more wonderful for me, by writing my username on one of his guitars!

I'll upload my photos and videos tomorrow, but here's the reason that made my night.

^ Wow.

Yeah I'd describe yesterday as magical. Hearing Reptile, The Becoming and Mr. Self Destruct live is just something else.

07/21/09 1:48 AM

So...I used to have this joke, "If I ever see Nine Inch Nails play and open-air theater in Greece - and they play something off 'Still' - I'm going to slit my throat right there on the barricade and die!" Uh.....um. Someone tell me what happened last night?

I still can't believe it.... such a great set list, such an amazing venue - here. It was this insane dream to see Nails in Greece, and I never thought it would happen. Everyone I did the show with you were awesome!! Savagestar - Lucy - Ashley and the boys - I love you guys...

I still can't believe all that happened - oh god - and Jane's Addiction played Jane Says HERE - it was insane!!!

Gone, Still.

I'd say "I can die now," but I can't, I'll be making art about this for years. I'm so happy!

That was so awesome!!! I still can't get over how cool that was!!! Dave <3's you! =)

07/21/09 2:33 AM

I believe that there are no words to describe what we experienced yesterday night!

Simply awesome, their performance and the setlist!

07/21/09 3:50 AM

Still trying to realize I went to a NIN gig!! It was a dream come true and no words are enough to describe the feeling... I've been thinking of arranging a trip to the US for years to catch them, but Trent beat me to it! The playlist was practically all my favourites put together, so an extra grin for that! :-)

Thank you Trent, you've been an inspiration for me ever since I was a teen, and going out of this amazing, unique project in style is just the class we've learned to expect from you. (Though if NIN didn't break up I certainly wouldn't mind)

Amazing gig! The best I've ever been to.

Hey Savage star, I saw the guitar and thought that this was for you, I don't even know you but I really felt happy for you at the moment and gave a smile for you smiling smiley

It was a dream come true, last night, on the list of things " To do before I die " tongue sticking out smiley
Trent's pure art is the soundtrack of my life so far and I am so grateful for what we experienced! This intensity, this beauty... I wanted so so much to see NIN, I couldn't believe it was finally happening smiling smiley My mind is filled with the visions and the sounds, and I just cant stop thinking about it!
I was close to the front too, I hope I didn't hurt anyone while jumping around smiling smiley

Also, I didn't know Jane's Addiction, but I must say that I was seriously impressed and overwhelmed by positive, positive feelings smiling smiley Definitely a fan now!

07/21/09 7:07 AM

Thank you, that's so sweet of you! It's gonna take me some time until I stop talking about it, it's definitely a highlight in my life!

I wasn't a Janes Addiction fan either, but I loved them to pieces last night!

07/21/09 2:02 PM

The best live I've ever been.

Here's video I made with my phone. Video has poor quality, but the sound kicks, and shall remind me for this perfect night down in Athens for years smiling smiley

what i can say .. at first i couldn t believe NIN ever visit greece .. i did nt expect that there is an audience here( and i was curious about... what kind of poeple here in greece are nin fans ) ..
it was awesome .. i enjoyed very much the guy with the sunglasses who played like a dj various themes at the begining of the show ( it reminds me the earlier NIN era ) , i didn't know Janes Addiction except from the two songs that were in NINJA mp3 compilation
they have a stuning performance and bombastic songs !!
It's unnecessary to say anything about NIN ( this music makes me evolve in something else , better i hope )..

well,Damaged_brain7,i was wondering about the same thing, although i am from Greece!it's because i know that NIN are not so racognised as other artists here(too bad)and propably i'm the only one in the little town that i live in that listens to NIN(ridiculous if you think the number of fans in america)!so i had no idea what sort of people i would meet at the concert eithersmiling smileybut from what i saw most looked more like punk or even death rock music followers!but i guess that each country depending on the projection or publicity of the bands' music has a different audiencesmiling smileyhowever there were some pretty casual(i'm not saying "normal",i don't want to offend anyone lol)people!and i like to believe i was one of those toosmiling smiley anyhow i believe that everyone and anyone can relate to NIN music!

oh!and that guy with the sunglasses is called Alec Empire(too bad he didn't sing...)and is a really great artist!you should check out his worksmiling smiley

Greek fans, I just wrote a Tour Journal on ETS, read it if you like. The show was perfect.

I was in the pit, the people were awesome, everybody with a huge smile on the face smiling smiley)))))))))..........i lost my voice and i'm sure half of the people too, you can't just not scream. I will remember this forever. The performance was something you can't describe with words..."the best sound ever" is so not enough..........

ok time for a reviewer to break the 'best concert of my life' mold

NIN
----

i like nin but since i am not being a crazy fan of theirs i thought that it was a 100% professional show with amazing sound and visuals but after the first hour i kinda got bored

trent seemed a bit tired to me and i wish he wasn't so much detached from the crowd but i know he can't be the crowd pleaser if he doesn't feel like

7/10

JA
---

i actually enjoyed ja more to be honest since i like their music more than nin and i hope they come back to greece soon for a full gig on their own (i hour seemed so little)

also i think that although nin were the headliners , the sound on ja was really low compared to the volume that nin had while they were playing

unfair if you ask me,i mean ja have the same if not bigger history than trent

anyway amazing perfomance from perry and the boys nothing to complain about

8/10

i was really surprised with the place of amazing beauty (reminded me of the red rocks,co place in usa) and the acoustics were really good

also if you happen to be greece around august 10th

faith no more.....will be playing at the same venue as yesterday so get your tickets

oh and all you nin fans who know the colour of trent's boxer short but haven't heard nothing of ja

do yourself a favour and purchase this album

ritual de lo habitual

in a more just world this would have been the alternate 'nevermind'

trent as much as a mastermind he is,he hasn't written a song as breathtaking as ' three days'

check the album and hear for ypurself

peace,love,understanding and personal evolving.

I will never get over this band. This is the third time I've seen them live, and they were equally ecstatic as the previous times. Long live Trent Reznor.

07/22/09 6:17 AM

Fucking amazing beyond words....I haven't seen such an intergalactic performance with THAT WALL OF SOUND....amazing.....the set list was very good with nice suprizes....i wish i had money to fly in september in USA..to see them again..my brother lives in california so i would have a place to stay..xaxaxaa....Alec Empire did an interesting kind of dj-set..but it was a hard tusk considering his dark music being played in the evening..in a club it would be more suitable..Janes...were very good but they definetely had sound issues..
The bottom line is we had a great time...@savagestar thanx for the you tube uploads......hope someone has the whole show filmed...i would like to have it for sentimental reasons..xaxaxaaa

at first thank you tertia for the info about Alec Empire , i ll make a search about his interesting work , i dont know if his work can be found in music stores though .. anyway.. yea you could see there punks goths e.t.c but i think that the casual poeple were more .. ( i was one of them , what a shame .. i want to make my hair like mohican though .. ) .. i hope in future NIN show up again here ..

Hey guys,
does anybody know why Trent said: Thank you, during March of the Pigs?
It had something to do with a sign some fans were holding right in front of him. Did anybody see what it said?
nmessaritis@googlemail.com

Thank you.

Thank you sotos for saving my wife and I's asses when we couldn't get a cab after the show. You are our guardian angel. We don't think 'Greeks are the worst people in Europe' and you certainly showed that. Anytime you are in New York we will be glad to help you out.

As for the show itself, Jane's Addiction (who I'm not really a fan of), tore it up. Perry Farrell is a consumate showman. Anyone who screams that he wants to lick Athena's pussy is ok by me. Mountain Song was sick when Perry got up on the speakers and then got in the crowds face. 9/10.

NIN were ok. I am a huge fan and the only reason I added a day in Athens to my Greece trip was to see the show. The venue was great, the setlist was great but it felt like something was missing. It seemed like the language barrier really bothered Trent. At every North American show the whole crowd is singing every single word. That was not the case at this show and it that left the crowd much less energetic than the case at a US/Canada show. Just my 2 cents. 6/10.

Yeah, I gotta disagree - TR seemd in a great mood - and I'd seen a few of the recent gigs in the US. He was just as happy, if not happier. And the crowd - People were just as into it/knew the words in Greece as they do in America. People were really into into it. Sorry you had trouble . I was in Greece for a week and I never had a problem, people were wonderful. I love Greece, I love the people and I would live there (at least part of the year) if I could. I even know the exact place I would buy in Delphi...

TR seemed really to like the crowd, he thanked everyone several times.

Anyways, I'll post photos somewhere when I can. I'm afraid to upload for another week, 'cuz I was to see if I can help people get tickets to shows... as soon as they're up I'll let everyoen know. I got a few decent ones.

Savagestar - I am going to upload only 1 photo before the 31st, I think you know the one. I"ll e-mail it to you as soon as I do.
