Back from a 3 day Budapest trip (together with my son). <right now I'm at work again>
It was great: beautiful city, very nice people, and very hot (>33°C). Fortunately the hotelroom got airco.
The concert was great, but not the best I've seen (for me Amsterdam was the best).
This one was special for me, because I stood on the front between Trent and Robin. And because ít was my last one (of seven). Excellent to end it in this city.

We had a great time and it was awesome to meet Laci, CFI and Ishtmail (with his wife and friends). People, I won't forget this...........I'm happy to know you all!
And of course greetings to the people from Hungary, Romania, Switzerland and France at the queue.

I think I was the crazy girl behind your son. :-) I hope I didn't push him too hard! HUGS!!!
Ha ha, he didn't noticed it. Everything's fine! Thanks

Finally back to Kansas City (last night). although I am totally wiped out, I am glad I went to Budapest for the show and to see the city. Great time all around. Show was amazing. Highlights for me were Last, La Mer, Something I Can Never Have, Downward Spiral. Hell, the whole show was the highlight.

It was my first NIN show, and for now, the last one as well sad smiley (I wanted to go to the Sziget a few years ago, but I wasn't at home at that time, and I'm only a poor student, so a can't really afford to go abroad ta watch them confused smileysmiling smiley ) The only thing that conforts me is that it was A-FUCKING-MAZING!!!!! Better than imagined, better than anything! grinning smiley One of my best nights, and THE best concert in my life so far (I'd like to give them a chance to try to top ittongue sticking out smiley)
Since it was my first time a can't really compare, but I think the band was having a good time, too. I managed to get to the third row (sorry for the girl next to me,the crowd was pushing me too!- but I didn't mindtongue sticking out smiley), so I had a great view (I can't understand people who buy those sitting tickets, and watch the show from a hundred meters away...), and in the end I managed to grab a drumstick!! (After catching it, at first I couldn't believe my godd luck -I still can't believe it- then escaped with it from the crowdgrinning smiley My parents at home couldn't understand my enthusiasm for a piece of woodgrinning smiley Since then it sits on a highlighted spot on a shelf in my roomgrinning smiley) After the show I felt really hyper for the rest of the night and the next day -despite the sleep deprivation-, and I just couldn't shut up about itgrinning smiley I think I got on the nerves of my familytongue sticking out smiley Even now I'm in a better mood than usual, and when I think of the show (about 90% of my time awaketongue sticking out smiley) I just can't stop smilingsmiling smiley
And the security guards were really nice, a huge brownie point for them for giving us water, since it was really hot, and everyone was jumping all the timegrinning smiley
Oh, yeah, I think the crowd was great. Everyone knew the songs, they didn't just wander in from the street, and most people I met were nice, I can't say anything bad about them (us). The atmosphere was great/amazing/mind-blowing/awesome/etc. ...
And most especially thanks Trent and the guys for coming here!! It was a good evening, shouldn't we repeat it some time in the future?tongue sticking out smiley (answer: we should!!tongue sticking out smiley looking forward to it...)

Thanks man! It was awesome for me too. We had a nice awaiting time outside!

As for the show, everything was lovely. I enjoyed it and yes, this was an unusual setlist. SICNH and TDS were the highlights for me and I liked Trent's speech about Bush.

Wow,my first NIN concert and it was an amazing experience from beginning to end!It was worth coming from and back to Romania and so,catching 2 shows that complemented each other
First of all,I'd like to say hi! to all of the people I met at the presale line and during the concert.I was the redheaded romanian girl.
Kitty, you really don't have to worry about the after-party issue,we did manage to get a room at a hotel in the end so we got some sleep...hooray for that grinning smiley
Sandra and Laci,I'm glad we got to see you in tg mures as well,to bad we didn't hang out afterwards tongue sticking out smiley
Ishtmail,I really want to see your pictures and videos since we had the same camera and I'm really curious at how they turned out.I think your wife was sitting behind me and I'll have to apologize to her if I ever were too much of a nuisance tongue sticking out smiley
nine_inch_nerd,you and your son were the greatest people to watch.you really made me want to have had my own dad to share the experience with me.and no,I'm not in love with brett smiling smiley))

The concert itself was more than I could describe in words,it was bewildering.A perfect setlist and a flawless performance and the crowd responded really well and, imho, pretty civilized winking smiley) Having Pinion+ Wish opener was more than I could ask because it sort of mirrored the first time I listened to NIN,starting with the same songs...
All in all,I couldn't have asked for a more fantastic concert.

07/28/09 7:12 AM

This was my very first NIN concert and I must say that although we were just around 7-8000 people, the show kicked ass!!! It was amazing to see them live, although I must confess that I was constantly comparing the NIN show to the DM shows I've seen so far - I know that they are two different worlds, but I did that. Maybe because I love DM beyond everything that's why I've said to Mauka that the NIN show was nothing compaired to the DM shows. But don't get me wrong, I was enjoying it entirely!! Trent's voice was even more amazing live and at the beginning when the music'd started, the whole hall roared and the seats under us were resonating, giving us the feel that we were sitting on a motor! It was wicked! Goose bumps all over!!!

Sadly I didn't know every song they've played, cuz usually I'm listening to a "favourite folder" from NIN, but every one of the songs sounded absolutely amazing! During "Burn" when the crowd started shouting back "BURN!!!" at Trent.... it was soooo soooo shockingly amazing for me! I was grinning like mad while trying to hold my phone straight, cuz I was recording it. (And as I looked into some videos a few days ago, it seemed that they are much more better quality than the ones I did on the DM concert from the first row.)

My very favourite part was when Ilan (haha, same age like me) came forward and "pushed" Trent away from the keyboards when Trent started playing "La Mer" (one of my absolute favs!!!!!!!! ) and Ilan continued it! I was SO HAPPY to hear this instrumental song live! So much things connect me to that song that I nearly cried at it's end, especially when another big fav of mine, "Something I can never have" came. It was pure magic on stage again! I was in another world and I was totally mesmerized as we were looking down at the band from our sector.

During "Mr. Self-Destruct" I was grinning like mad too cuz I was thinking of one of my friends, Bree (and the whole Meet Your Master forum) and that I'll tell this to her!
Before "The hand that feeds" Trent said a litte speech about George W. Bush, which surprised me and although I couldn't understand everything of it, he spoke in a so to say not-so-nice way about him... and the crowd liked it. smiling smiley And then came "The hand that feeds" which rocked the whole place!!! It was AMAZING and finally nearly the whole audience was jumping like mad in union! But sadly this was our last song, cuz we had to leave earlier so we could catch the last subway run. (I hate traffic in Budapest!!!) So we just heard parts of "Head like a hole" during we were searching our way out of the building. smiling smiley It'd have been nice to hear "Hurt" live, but later - as a compensation - I've heard it in a DM/NIN party (in the version where David Bowie featured the song).
So I must say that I have ambivalent feelings about this concert because of our early leave, but the performance was AMAZING!
Thank you Trent for this wonderful evening!!!

I know the quality sucks, but here are my vids: [www.youtube.com]

My 10th NIN show, in my home country, wohoo! grinning smiley

It was sooo great to see them again, I just realized (again) how much I love seeing them live. My personal highlights:
Reptile - really, it was a surprise, sounded so great
La Mer
The Downward Spiral - never heard it live (and after that: Mr. Self Destruct - wow!)
The Good Soldier
and to hear that Trent loved the city smiling smiley

Well, then come back soon! grinning smiley

Well, I just came back from my Budapest-Formula 1-NIN-Vienna vacation. I was actually in Budapest for the Formula 1 race, and the NIN concert fell right in the middle of that. Because both events are exhausting enough on their own, I had some serious doubts up to the last moment whether it would be wise to combine the two. In the end, my need to see NIN another time overcame those doubts and I got my ticket just a few short hours before the show started. Here's one guy who's happy that the show wasn't sold out.

It's too bad I haven't met any of you guys and gals, but that's what happens with last-minute decisions. It didn't help either that I was deprived of internet for a week. Some of you might have noticed me though, not only because of my height (1.95m), but also because I hadn't exactly packed for my vacation with a NIN concert in mind. So I just threw on the clothes that I least cared about getting dirty. I must've stuck out like a sore thumb with my kaki pants and red T-shirt. tongue sticking out smiley

Anyway, about the show, needless to say it was fucking amazing. What struck me afterward was how similar the experience had been to the Amsterdam show I've been to earlier. Now that's a good thing - Amsterdam was awesome from start to end, and Budapest was no different. The crowd was excellent, with everyone really getting into it. No real trouble either, aside from a few people fainting, and a group of annoying drunk Germans who kept moshing the whole time. And oh yeah, I spotted one crowd surfer near the end of the show.

The setlist was great too - no big surprises, just an outstanding selection of songs. I was specifically hoping for Reptile, Echoplex and Terrible Lie. Well, as they say, two out of three ain't bad.
Reptile was especially cool with the green lights strobing in sync with the flickering sound of the song.
Words can't describe that feeling of anticipation you get during the intro of March of the Pigs, when the whole crowd is gearing up and you know that all hell is about to break loose.
Loved Trent's little speech about the Bush administration right before The Hand That Feeds.

All in all, I feel really lucky that I got to see NIN twice in a row, and whatever doubts I had beforehand seem really stupid now.

I will say everywhere how much I enjoyed meeting you and Ishtmail in person, it changed a regular summer gig to an event for me. Even if it was only a small chitchat before/after the show, I was really happy we could make it and I sincerely hope we can meet again if it's possible. Thanks to both of you after all those online years.
