I'm pretty sure the whole of his post was sarcastic tongue sticking out smiley

sonsiphere was broadcasted on channel 4 last night, there was so sign of showing NIN. I was absolutely gutted. I'm glad they played a more quite set, it made the moment even more special!

08/15/09 3:33 PM

I can't believe how crap most of tha bands were! No offence to anyone but they're all pretty interchangaeble and a lot of them were just pure shite. I'm glad I went only for the Saturday.

Also thought the sound mix on Channel 4 was poor. I saw both Limp Bizkit and Metallica and they didn't sound as bad as that. Ah well, TV I guess...

08/16/09 4:17 PM

Didn't expect 'The Mirror' to understand Nine Inch Nails (whether they played a quiet or loud set).
Here is a hint for them: Go back to reporting the latest 'news' on drunken big brother contestants falling out of nightclubs half naked etc... and leave the sophisticated stuff to someone else.

Which brings us nicely into Channel 4' s Sonisphere highlights, I knew they would refrain from showing any footage of NINs set, but then again I'm selfishly glad they didn't too, as it keeps the whole experience pure in my mind (honestly, who wants heart-achingly emotional footage of Hurt or Lights In The Sky inter-cut with recordings of some festival-goers making devil horns, screaming "Sonisphere 2009, rock on motherfuckers" while some stock, trashy pre-paid metal track plays in the background)?!

On a positive note though, The Independent newspaper gave a good review of the NINJA London show a few weeks back. Just a shame they spoilt it by captioning a photo of Robin Finck as Trent Reznor!? Oh well.
:-)

Oh yeah, and another thing I forgot to add about Kerrang being turd: they said Janes Addiction were crap at the o2 show. Sure, its not waney emo junk or bang bang music so they get a bad report

08/19/09 3:32 PM

I absolutely loved NIN's set at Sonisphere. It was the second time i've seen them and it blew me away. It was so good to hear songs that you wouldn't expect to be played and may never get to hear again! Was def a set for the 'real' fans and not just people who want to hear their hits!

Oh and the metallica twat fans talking through the set really pissed me off.

When trent sang Hurt some twat old man sitting down said 'isn't this a Johnny Cash song'....dumbass get it right, Johnny Cash COVERED it!

Couldn't agree more. Just desperately wish I'd bought a Wave Goodbye T-shirt now... What's the likelihood of a bootleg surfacing for the Sonisphere show?! Can't put the O2 one down at the minute. If only flights were booked to NYC for tomorrow night!

Please just do one more show in the UK, the sonisphere gig was good but too short and I'll be honest the setlist kind of pissed me off slightly although I did quite enjoy a lot of it. As the US have been given a few more tour dates it would be nice to see a few more over here as we do make up a majority of your fan base, but thanks for the shows anyway I enjoyed the Reading 07 show.

08/25/09 10:28 AM

I was really pissed off with the people who spoke through the set. I was disappointed with the lack of more faster tunes like Burn or Hand That Feeds in there. Don't get me wrong, a really good show which by the set was ment for us but with it being the last ever show in the UK blowing Metallica away would have been the way to go, not trying to baffle the close minded fools.

Yes, if only they had done the 64 mins Downward Spiral in its entirety, which would still have ended with Hurt, like in one of the New York shows!

It's amazing how little coverage and reviews I was able to find in the days and weeks following soNINsphere that actually included NIN's set, most of the publications that covered it omitted the NIN set entirely, and the articles I read online that did include it ranged from detrimental to just down-right ignorant.

I for one loved it. We went to the o2 gig too a couple of weeks previous and I was left in such a state of awe that I came right home and booked tickets for Sonisphere. We drove up on the Sunday, watched NIN and left. Best £75 I've ever spent.

I've been a fan for eleven years, and have seen them 4 times in total, far less than many people here, but enough that I can say they were different every time and they haven't disappointed once.

That would have blown my tiny mind. As it was, i thought it was a great set, went just to see NIN. best day out in a long time.

Really fun set to play in that environment.

I guess there were good cheers, but when it was quiet enough i could hear insults being hurled, I mean I absolutely loved the set (i still remember it now) LiTS and wish were highlights, and when i saw Trent on from what i can remember a finger piano? quite funny but a different sound, catched my ears. But i became a fan too late =[ the only time I may ever get to see NIN live

also to the comment about NIN headlining: Well it's Metallica, isn't it? I think NIN should have headlined the night before, seeing as those shit used-to-be-nu-metallers actually covered Wish and look up to NIN. I actually didn't bother to go see LP haha!

Hello everyone, i am trying to track down the soundboard recording of this show as i am sure it exists but just hasn't been released, some of you may have heard the "Wish" recording that was floating around.

Obviously im not expecting one of you to have it but i was wondering if anyone had any idea who i should contact first, at a guess i would say that Sonisphere themselves are in possession of the recording but could NIN themselves have it?

Any help greatly appreciated.

02/08/10 3:28 PM

I'm pretty certain it exists somewhere as well. I ripped Wish and TWOIT audio from absolute radio. It seems pretty unlikely that they would record those two tracks alone. Doubt whichever company has hold of the recording now is going to release it mind - Can't see their motive and there may be possible licensing issues or such like. If an individual has their mitts on it however it wouldn't seem like such a hideous request.

I still think about this and the O2 gig on a regular basis. They were both astounding for very different reasons and I am so glad I went to both before the touring hiatus.

02/10/10 4:50 PM

Do you think emailing Sonisphere to ask who the sound company was might help?

Or is it petition time?

02/10/10 3:57 PM

PETITION
it'd be funny cos only nin fans would be dedicated enough and do this. I'd love to have a copy of 'lights in the sky', that was one of my favourite moments of Sonisphere.

02/10/10 3:58 PM

I was there and would love the full soundboard!

personally I think emailing and asking who has it and if we can have it would be thhe thing to do first. if that fails then petition time!

what are the chances we could just ask rob to upload it somewhere?

EDIT:
If there is a petition could we get it on the nin hotline? i'm sure that'd get a few signatures.

'One of'? It WAS my favourite moment of the whole event. I too would love to get a decent recording, but if one hasn't surfaced by now....still, I wish you all all the best, and will put my name to any petition going!

Just going to say guys... good luck getting a full soundboard of this show... I've been collecting shows for years and I will tell you that a band just won't "hand over" a soundboard of their show. Plus even though the first 2 songs were broadcasted and recorded... it doesn't mean they did not stop recording after the first 2 songs.

Example: Depeche Mode during the Exciter Tour would let pro. photographers take photos for the first 3 songs (Intro/Easy Tiger, Dead of Night, Sweetest Condition), as well as most (or any) soundboards of that show were those 3 songs.

I know that NIN is different... but they probably went by festival rules for this. Not by NIN's policies.

02/11/10 3:00 AM

Hello Ryan! I've been on your site before, very cool, you have so many recordings!
someone could've sneaked in a recorder in their bag somewhere... NIN fans are dedicated enough. perhaps a funny moment of 'Hurt' was when the crowd started clapping. embarassment for us not having any damn rythm! i got a wave goodbye shirt before they played, the one with the lines going across it, with different thicknesses. sonisphere ripped us off though, all t-shirts were £20!

They didn't check for cameras at all at the festival.

02/12/10 3:49 PM

Well.... my best bet is that if you want to get this, the best answer is to see what other bands were at the festival. I think Metallica and Linkin Park were? Your best option is to go and look at tapers from those 2 communities and see if those tapers did in fact tape NIN as well... its a shot. They might have taped NIN just for the hell of it and are not releasing it because they are not a fan of the band (shock, but it happens). Just thought I would pass on the info.

02/13/10 1:08 PM

I have contacted Sonisphere directly and they wouldn't confirm whether they had the recording or not, only saying "not every band was recorded" but they did say that they need the bands permission to release it even if they do have it.

We need to start a petition, or find a way of contacting Trent about this.

In regards to other band being recorded by the same taper, I know the guy that did LP didn't do NIN but he did do AIC, A7X, Airbourne and some others. Metallica have released a soundboard recording of there set, plus Linkin Park are planning on doing the same (i think) so I would have thought every band was recorded.

Petitions don't do anything.... There was a petition for Depeche Mode to release a soundboard from their World Violation tour in 1990. There were over 10,000 signatures. I am sorry, but it won't happen. Some shows just don't end up getting recorded. This might be one of them.

02/13/10 6:33 PM

Metallica release soundboards of EVERY show, which makes their taping community pretty much redundant sadly, so we may be shit outta luck.

02/13/10 8:15 PM

Oh come on now, the Limp Bizkit community might be loyal and strong! Did anyone get the email address of that 8 year old boy?

I agree its unlikely to do anything, but it cant hurt can it? if Trent sees it he might just release it to shut us up, or at least say "it wasn't recorded" then we would know for sure.

Maybe you could send a twitter to Trent about this or Rob? He hasn't got the 'not reading replies' message on there anymore. I'd love to hear it too
