Kalimba/Thumb piano. He usually ends Piggy playing it.

Yeah, there were a few people in NIN shirts talking around that time too. They were telling off someone who was complaining about the set, but ended up being noisy themselves!

Thanks for yet another fantastic show - You did succeed to baffle some of the audience from what I could hear people say - which I think is fantastic smiling smiley Really glad I got to see you at the MEN Arena as well - two very different sets, both incredible in their own right. Never thought I'd get the chance to hear most of what you played yesterday live, and certainly not together - for a last gig it was a real treat - Thank you
All the best for the future

The end seemed a bit sudden, and you barely said a word to the crowd =(
Either way, Incredible, Incredible set. I've never been that emotional during a live show, but when you played The Frail and Hurt, seriously felt myself welling up.
We'll miss you dude x

I'm going over it in my mind and the outcome, at the moment, is one of disappointment. As this was probably the last chance for me to see NIN live I had to go. I traveled a huge distance, spent quite a lot of money on the ticket and had to sit through a days worth of trash just to get my last hour with Trent. I am heavily pregnant at the moment too. Not at all relevant but I mention it only to illustrate my commitment!

I get that the artist plays whatever they feel appropriate, but I wonder if Trent forgot about the little people like me? I don't have a problem with the songs he played, maybe its just that it felt like going out on a whimper, especially as recent reviews have been so glowing. Maybe the problem was always going to be that a hour for a NIN set was never going to be enough (although living through an hour of Limp Bizkit and Alice in Chains felt like a lifetime). Maybe, this set will go down as one of the classics (and don't get me wrong I did enjoy it), but for now I wish I had just been left to my memories of when I saw him in 1994.

Nine Inch Nails rocked my fucking tits off.

By far, for me, the best time i've seen NIN as it was a total fan setlist, and not just the crowd pleasers.

I was left wanting more, never being brought to that point of going mental, but ever so close.

The only reason I came to Sonisphere.

How awesome were the massive singalongs??
Incredible. Beautiful. Brilliant.

Just had to state it AGAIN. Better than Reading, better than Brixton, better than the O2. Perfect and beautiful.

Thank you, Trent. Thank you for everything.

If ya read this - Musicophilia is pretty cool, hmm!

its the only festival experience i have ever had where a grown man is crying next to me.... what an awesome way to sign off..

did not know what to think of the nine inch nails sonisphere set. enjoyed the songs played just seemed somewhat depressing(for me anyway) guess it was such an unexpected set for a festival. still was good to go to all three uk shows all of which were different. sad to think was the last ever nine inch nails show in the uk, all the best for the future though Trent!. we will all be lost without robin fincks hair thoughtongue sticking out smiley

15th and I guess last(?) time I will ever see NIN streching back 18 years.

Just a truely awesome and very special set.

I really was just blown away and incredibly emotional at the end.

Just thank you.............

I enjoyed the set with closed eyes imagining a more intimate surrounding. Thanks Trent and the band!

Well it seems Im gonna be the only negative one! I have followed NIN nearly from the start. Have always enjoyed their shows. But this one left me disappointed. Not only did they come on stage late, but they also left 10min early. So there set lasted 45min not the hour. I felt had he played the other 15 mins as he should he should of played some more tracks he knows the fans like! I personally would of liked to hear Repilt but thats by the by as we all have our favourites. At the end of the show he disappeared. What about the fans that has waited to see him And followed hime for years. I think a thank you would of been something. So the man/I most love are no more and Im left feeling quite numb from the experience. Not a memory I wanted to end in!

An unusual choice of tunes, tiz true, but...

As long as folks enjoyed 'emselves, that's the main thing!!

it was f***ing awsom did anyone watch machine head and go in the circle pits

08/03/09 8:55 AM

Really enjoyed the set - ideal for a hot sunday afternoon. Also very emotional for me as they played some of my favourite tunes by any band. I was lucky enough not to be surrounded by dickheads! Oh & there were three Aussie (I think) lasses singing delightfully in tune as well.

btw If only some of the other bands had played a few more tracks instead of wasting time telling us what a bunch of mean motherfuckers we are!

08/03/09 9:23 AM

Trent i have always respected you and after that show i respect you a whole lot more to do a set like that at a metal show takes some balls and you fuckin did it. thanks for all the awsome live experiences you have given me and that was a nice goodbye =)

08/03/09 9:37 AM

I'm really happy that everyone enjoyed the set, I love all the quiet songs, but for me I thought it was a bit "too" quiet sad smiley
I was hoping for Reptile, Sin or Deep, hell Supernaut would have made my head explode with "OH MY FUCKING GOD!!"

I feel bad that I came away slightly dissapointed, I guess the crappy sonisphere rip off merchants didnt help, put me in a bad mood, I went VIP & got fuck all for it, most staff were clueless & some were just fucking rude, but thats another story...

Besides I'm so happy Non Entity / Lights were played, it made my day smiling smiley cheers Trent & Co.

Oh and cheers to all you fuck heads who thought pushing at the front barrier on the left side was a good idea, you didnt get any closer, you crushed my girlfriend & almost got a poor lad killed as he fell on the floor getting walked over, had to pick the poor sod up sad smiley

08/03/09 9:50 AM

I really hope someone recorded the show - particularly as I'd not heard quite a number of the tracks live before.

08/03/09 9:51 AM

Absolutely brilliant setlist, sooo glad I got in early to get near the front. Got a little bit crushed during Wish and a bottle caught me in the eye but it was worth every second of it smiling smiley Especially The Frail and The Downward Spiral which were fairly emotional and it was great to see Hurt performed live again, made me cry, sing and smile all at the same time!

Anyways so now I return home again with a swollen eye, a bruised rib, a stomach full of cider and a lifetime of memories. Thanks Trent, Robin, Justin and Ilan, wish you the best for the future
[waves goodbye]

I think it was a beautiful way to sign off. I loved the setlist. Thanks for the good times Trent and the very best of luck with all your future endeavours. I look forward to joining you on your next journey.

I did enjoy yesterday, but I did feel slightly disspointed when it finished. But I think that was mainly due to the fact that the set was so short. It did seem like an unusual set list for a festival slot, but it was good to hear underneath it all (which I've never heard live before).

I actually got a little chocked up during SICNH, mainly because I was thinking that this would be the last time I would see NIN live.

I agree, it was a really beautiful set and I wish it had been longer. Thanks to all of you and good luck x

I really enjoyed it, it was a very curious setlist. It was nice to see the quieter side of NIN after O2 and the chosen set delivered this very well. The Way Out Is Through was my personal highlight.

I was unsure of the response the set would get from the audience but from what I have read on here it went down very well with the fans - It was a heavily fan directed set. Although if this had been my first NIN show I think I may have have a felt a little empty after. It's not that I do not enjoy the quieter songs but a balance of the quieter material alongside some of the heavier may have proved a more positive experience for lesser fans and the rest of the audience (but then again this is the last tour before a hiatus so i'm guessing the band is not trying to win any new fans).

Personally I think the lack of heavier well known songs was a refreshing change and emotionally quite moving (after the drunken mug behind me stopped shouting ignorant comments and singing the lyrics out of time and tune.. I came to listen to the band NOT the idiot behind me !). However I am not sure how well suited to the festival environment this was because of the aforementioned drunken idiots and also because of the atmosphere prior to NIN's performance.I felt quite sad after their performance which dampened my appreciation o so slightly of the bands after. This is not a complaint (half expecting it) but a livelier set may have helped maintain the summer festival atmosphere.

Im not sure if the above made sense or was contradictory but I appreciated/enjoyed the show and as a huge NIN fan felt it was a fitting 'farewell' show. The quieter tracks I enjoyed but I'm glad I went to the O2 gig as well because I have heard both 'sides' of NIN.

Thanks & Good Luck Ci5tm.

I work for the company that shot the festival - it will be on TV I believe although I'm not sure which channel or when I'm afraid!

well seems like that was the last show ever in uk and europe...been few times to see them in london and once in barcelona and i am a massive fan but i was so so dissapointed nine inch nails were the band i went there for and could not believe what i saw in a way some can say it was different but i still think they could go a bit heavier i was so up for it.i know that playing in the daylight is not the same but at least try!!!Trent i am so happy i couldnt see you after the gig cos first time in my life i would have to say something not entirly nice BIG DISSAPOINTMENT its not about metal fans its about NIN fans being unhappy felt so bad that got drunk in the end the only good think is i won the tickets so didnt have to pay cos i would ask for "money back"

Anyway, for everyone's delectation, over thirty fresh piccies from my trusty Powershot are present on the images section (see first post). Hope you like them.

Hopefully, video of SICNH is to follow.

I believe we'll see Sonisphere on August 14, Channel 4, 10pm.

Fantastic show - loved it! Although, if I'd known the setlist, I wouldn't have stood so far forward - I was stuck among loads of people expecting lots of mosh pits sad smiley
All the songs were fantastic although I was a little disappointed that there were no songs from With Teeth, but the inclusion of The Downward Spiral more than made up for it for me grinning smiley

08/03/09 11:35 AM

I only came to see nin, and although i wished for heavier stuff, it seemed so fitting. It was heart breaking to watch but at the same time i felt honoured to be there and i wouldnt have missed it for anything. Despite being at a metal festival, it was perfect for a sunday evening and a lovely change from the usual,(Apart from the few unappreciative gob shites, who could have just wondered off somewhere else, they wouldn't have been missed)
Thank you so much for coming back one last time for us.

08/03/09 12:00 PM

Im sorry to say, but I did come away feeling rather dissapointed, but I'm not sure why! I think it was because Trent was allocated an 1 hour slot and only played for 45 mins sad smiley

But not to worry, the songs he did play were fucking awesome as usual, and the crowd went deadly silent, which was a weird experience for a metal festivial!
I managed to take some pictures, which I'll post when I get them developed, although some to-energetic-for-this-song girl nearly punched my eye out with her elbow and I spent the entirerty of the set rubbing my eye trying to focus my camera sad smiley

Overall Im so glad I went to the festivial, even though I swear the guy in front of me was sick of being ass raped by me (not intentionally), i managed to get second row! I was very nearly touching the bar in front.

Thankyou so much Trent, you mean the world to me (I actually heard some girl behind me shout "I want your babies Trent!" really loudly and everyone laughed grinning smiley, pretty sure you mean the world to her too!) Thanks for playing yet another amazing gig, and I wish you all the best! smiling smiley

It was a surreal experience, a raw and intimate glimpse of Trent that I have never witnessed on stage before. Personally I found it an incredibly moving experience and a fitting way to wave goodbye to nin. A performance I will never forget, thankyou!
