Somewhat Damaged
Terrible Lie
Heresy
MOTP
Closer
The Frail
I'm Afraid Of Americans
Burn
Gave Up
The Fragile
The Big Comedown
Wish
Survivalism
THTF
Hurt

Even without HLAH, a great setlist! My personal favorite moment was "The Fragile". I was instantly hooked when I saw them playing this song at MTV Award prior to the release of TF. It takes 10 years until I finally hear it live.
It started raining during "The Frail". And it became really heavy,,,totally soaked but it made their last ever Tokyo show special alike Woodstock 94.
The band's performance was awesome. I'd been worried that NIN without Alessandro would be a handicapped version of NIN, but my concern was soon sorted out. They played with a lot of vigor and passion.
Trent and the guys bid farewell to Tokyo in a triumphant manner. I didn't see My Chemical Romance because of rain, but guess for MCR NIN was pretty hard to follow. I can't even imagine MCR rocked harder than NIN.
Tomorrow show at Osaka is their final gig in Japan. I'll be there!

Show was Amazing...The downpour that happened made it even more so.
The energy the crowd had was beautiful...
Could NOT have asked for a better and more wonderful experience.
Thank You NIN.

Just woke up. What a show. What a night. Thank you Trent, Robin, Justin, Ilan and everyone involved in NIN. Thank you my fellow fans in the arena.

Osaka, you can expect a really intense show tonight. I've been to NIN shows in 2000, 2005 and 2007, and this was the most intense.

When the show started, it was getting dark, due to the sunset and the dark clouds. I felt a few raindrops on my face during Heresy, but it was during The Frail when the downpour started to seem for real, complete with thunder. I was in the arena (right block) and saw some people leave - it really was too much rain - but most of us remained. I was reminded of Woodstock 94 which I only saw in a TV/computer screen. I couldn't believe it was real until I heard a woman standing next to me say "What a fun!" during I'm Afraid of Americans.

Among us in the arena, there were many moments of smile and happiness in the heavy rain. There was something that can even be called "solidarity". We were in that together. The Marine Stage is a baseball stadium covered with thick plastic sheet, so it was like a huge pond. I was drenched from head to toe. Even my wallet in my hip pocket was so soaked that I had trouble to take out a banknote afterwards.

The downpour had turned into a shower by the time they started Hurt. As if planned. Beautiful.

During Burn they started moshing a couple of raws in front of me. They were real moshers, not "pushers", and it was really organised (and chaotic at the same time). The mosh pit was there during Gave Up, Wish, Survivalism, THTF and I could almost join. In fact I didn't - I couldn't move my legs because my trousers were sticking. If I had joined, it would have been the first moshpit in 15 years for me. winking smiley

The best moment for me was The Frail - when it started pouring. People were quietly listening - I never hear anybody talk or chatter during the quiet songs in NIN shows in Japan - and the sound of rain, could be felt if inaudible, made it so special. Surprises were Closer being played and HLAH not being played at the end.

When the MC guy's voice came "Nine Inch Nails! Thank you! What a show!", we knew it was the end but remained there for a while. The crowd were chanting "Nine Inch Nails!" and clapping. Well, Trent said it was their last show in Tokyo but I'm still hoping to see them play HLAH at the end. A 15-song set is too small and short for us to wave goodbye after all the 20 years. Please come back.

To Kenji-san:
Thank you for posting the setlist. Enjoy the Osaka show tonight! smiling smiley

This show was huge and as everyone already said, the rain and thunder added a touch. "Now it feels like a real Nine Inch Nails concert", as Trent put it. The show was intense, powerful, the crowd was wild and there was a lot of emotion.

Wow this felt weird to know that it was the last show of NIN I'll ever see. I'll miss NIN's lives for the band of course but also for the chance to be with thousands of people screaming at the top of their lungs on Terrible Lie, Closer and other huge songs. There is something primal, liberating, to celebrate this powerful music with thousands of people who feel the same way and give all their energy in spite of the conditions. As you put it Deconstructer, there definitely was a strong feeling of "solidarity" and it makes me sad it'll be the last real time I'll feel that with other NIN fans.

But on another end it was great to be able to say goodbye, to know it was the last one and give everything.

Thanks Trent, the band and thanks to all you thousands of other wet people who went crazy at the marina stadium yesterday!

thank you guys for the report!
I am from Japan and I live in the states now. Unfortunately I could not make it to my country to see NIN at summer sonic fest.
Probably it is because of language barrier, I do not find messages from the audience of the fest here as many as some Japanese SNS sites but I have checked lots of cool comments from Japanese fans.I was not there but I was very happy to see those fans comments and I do wish Trent and the guys could check the messages.
I just wanted to inform that there are so many fans had a great time with NIN in Tokyo and Osaka.

Deconstructer, thanks for the resume.
I was here too, reading your post took me back there. Wait, I think I never really left smiling smiley.

I also thought it was like our own private Woodstock. I remember the whole thing by flashes, as these washed dreams you can still feel upon you when waking up, but you cant put words or story on them. And the best part was that of course it wasnt a dream - the bruises from the pit and my poor shoes being still soaked two days later are vivid proof.

I couldnt help but having a large smile throughout the show. It was out of this world, and im happy i could share that with the crowd at summer sonic. Thank you NIN, for all those cherished live moments !

It was the best show in my life.

Thanks. I am very happy

Thanks,Trent.
I(everyone was there)will never forget that moment.
The moment The history was made. The legend was made.

I'm so happy I could be there.

Thank you!!!

Thank You Trent.

I am living in Tokyo this year and knew that seeing your last tour would be really special. I had no idea.

Watching you perform Hurt, one last time, while the rain poured down, will always be one of my favorite concert experiences.

It's been a great 20 years and I look forward to hearing what you decide to do next.

You are welcome! For me It's always a great joy to look back at setlist and remember details of the gig (think some of you reading this agree). And your review sums up that 70 minutes in a beautifully emotional way. Yes, we were in THAT together.
Osaka show was pretty different to Tokyo for a few reasons. I'll post later @ Osaka thread.

During 2nd tune Terrible Lie, TR suddenly knocked down his keyboard & knocked over
his mic-stand & lights.
After that TR became appalling much more.

When MOTP was started TR threw his guitar & several stands at here there on the stage & destroyed Robin's mic and some gear.
I guess TR couldn't remember what's he doing at that moment. (Did anyone film those?)
I felt a fear to see serious TR's expression.
Was TR crazy there ? ... No, absolutely No ... He couldn't suppress his own emotion to explode.

I would like to say, even though his explosive emotion, playing & singing by 4-NIN-guys were Perfect !! (not only great... It's really perfect)
The word "awesome" is now cheap.

Everyone there knew what's happen after coming heaviest rain and thunderbolt.
Now I know TR would try to give us everything he has.

Insidiously TR turned to be really kind person (as usual in Japan), He really tried hard to make his performance better.
We all could feel his kindness.

Last phrase of Last song HURT there wasn't "I would find a way" but
really of good faith "Thank you".
After He left the stage, He said to himself "I would find a way".

Didn't see this show, but spiralout_ can't seem to log onto to nin.com and asked me to spread the word about some great videos on YouTube. I'll attempt to post the link, but I've never had any luck before. Just in case, the video in question was posted by Fes19880922 Nine Inch Nails - Live @ Summer Sonic 09 and it's well worth watching!

Great videos ! I was afraid on the first days after this great performance cause nothing appeared on flickr or youtube... but being able to remember now with this quality of sound and picture is, in one word, awesome !
I didn't dare getting out my camera for this one... especially with the rain pouring down... but i made a small contribution writing an article you can find here.

A few weeks ago I ordered a print from FRC Photos from the Charlotte show last summer. (Fucking excellent by the way, and you can see me and my friends Negro_Joe and reznorgasm7 clear as day in the front of the pit.)

Today it finally came in the mail and all is well with the print, but (I'm assuming by accident) they included an extra 11x14 print from last year's Tokyo show. It's this one:

http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/4599/picture1lp.jpg

Since I'm only really trying to buy prints from the 4 shows I attended (2 down, 2 to go!) I really have no use for this and I'd love to make someone's day, so if there is anyone who wants it I'd be willing to send it to you, free of charge. (Insert "this one's on me" joke here.)

The print is the bigger 11x14 size but unfortunately it is NOT date-stamped. Seeing as I just got it in the mail today it's in perfect condition.

I'm posting this in this thread because obviously I want to give the opportunity to someone who was actually at this show.

If you're interested, PM me. Whoever does it first gets it.
