Great crowd and show. Thrilled to get Last, Dead Souls and Reptile. Even more thrilled to be on the right side when Robin, JMJ, and Trent passed right by.

Got some good video so will post when an audio source comes out.

I did not appreciate The Horrors use of that earth shattering bass. My earplugs were not enough for that. And the NIN show was a good show, but it pretty much had the NINJA set list going on. I was expecting more - perhaps the next shows I will be attending? The crowd was just right - not too bad, yet not too stagnant. I'm at a friend's friend's house and I can't connect to her wireless, so I'll have to upload my vids/pics when I come back home Wednesday.

I didn't think it actually sounded that loud, per se; it was just the fact that you felt it so prominently. Shook the floors to where it felt like the whole venue was going to collapse. Oh well. Look at it this way: they probably spend a fortune on amps/stacks/etc.

All in all, i liked The Horrors. Particularly their mannequin bassist.

Really had an amazing time at this show, despite not doing the usual early line up thing. I was still with a great group of friends for a very memorable show. My take on this one was, if I were to have been on the rail, this would have just felt like every other show I have been to, I wanted to be in the crowd for this one --- to really be in the thick of things. I do not regret my decision in the slightest! It was really nice to be around so many fans who were equally into the experience, everyone knew everything, the energy was super intense - all the while being very low on the douchebag factor. haha (that was a nice change of pace, huh?)

When the show started I was about 2/3 of the way back in the venue and when NIN got started the crowd rushed SO FAR up, I couldn't believe it. We ended up only about 15-20 feet from the stage. I think people must have self-imploded to create that much space up there. haha Highlight of the show for me was definitely "Last." I have been waiting to hear that one for 20+ shows and just kept missing it on my setlists, so I was so stoked when it started up. Lowlight: "The Collector." I just don't think it's one of TR's strongest.

Great night, can't wait for the rest of the shows. See you tonight @ Webster!

p.s. what is up with the NY scene throwing completely full liquor and beer drinks during the show?! If I pay ten bucks for a cocktail, my ass is gonna drink it not throw it on the five people next to me. hilarious and stupid.

Alright full review time, show was fucking insane, i don't care if the set list wasn't as insane, as everybody wanted it, it was like every best moment of the NIN/JA tour combined into one, the venue was sick, really a perfect intimate venue, I ended up over in front of Justin about 8 rows back, Somewhat Damaged was insane as everyone rushed to the stage then were jumping up and down like crazy, as I mentioned before after The Beginning of The End Trent threw his tambourine into the middle of the crowd, it got bounced around and somehow someway made its way right in front of me, i grabbed it and got out of the action because I didn't want someone to rip it away from me, the set list was near perfect as it was always satisfying but never obvious what was coming next, so nice to hear The Collector played as well, the ending of Dead Souls/In This Twilight was a work of beauty, my last NIN show ever and even if they eventually tour again this will keep me satisfied for years to come

Highlights
-Somewhat Damaged
-Last
-Reptile
-La Mer
-Down In It
-Hurt
- In This Twilight

Ha ha, since you mention that, there was a couple standing directly beside me right up until NIN came out and the crowd went crazy; i suspected they were drunk and high(my guess would have been rolling). Right around the end of the Horrors' set, i got an entire beer dumped down my leg and into my shoe. I would have been angrier about it, except 1)it wasn't my $10, and 2)it was cold, and actually kind of refreshing. I guess i was probably lucky it was just the guy's beer, and not whatever pink concoction the girl was drinking, which would have doubtless gotten sticky as hell as it dried.

What a fucking show, best NIN show I've ever been to by a million and I GOT A FUCKING TAMBOURINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was the one Trent threw into the crowd after the beginning of the end, he threw it to the middle, it bounced around and ended up on the floor right next to me, I quickly snagged it and it was honestly an amazing moment since me and my friend who goes to NIN shows with me always joke about getting one of trent's tambourine, once again a phenomenal show, Thank You to the kind couple who got me a poland spring a security guard was handing out, to the crowd for being just right and not too aggressive, to the 150 new followers of me on twitter just to read my set list tweets and to Trent and company for putting on such an amazing show in such an intimate venue

Ahh so that was you! Congrats. I saw the whole scene play out from the balcony and it looked like the tambourine was lost for a minute and no one could find it?

My friend caught the second tambourine and went straight home with it wrapped in a shirt because he was afraid he'd be robbed.

yea I didn't want to show off my winning to everyone since I too was afraid to get in stolen from me, but from song 3-27 i held it tight in my hands and luckily the people around me were nice enough not to pull any fast ones on me

08/23/09 2:35 PM

Yes, the show was great @ Bowery 8.22.09. I got in free for half the show! Big accomplishment!! Trent snubbed me when i wanted his sig...it's cool though. He was with his fiance. @least he snubbed ME...ha ha! Justin shook my hand and Robin somehow got to the van w/o anyone even spotting him until late. I'll be @ Webster Hall tonite to try and do it all over again.

08/23/09 2:59 PM

Congrats to you on getting that tambourine, I am sure you will treasure it and build a shrine around it, lol.
Im am still aching from the beating in the pit (which I was thrown into without consent), but very happy all around!
Took many pictures but I'm new to this forum and can't seem to find a way to upload them? anyone can so I can share them? I also took a video of Hurt in its entirety, and parts of other songs.
I think people will learn the lesson about camping outside of a venue that holds 500 people. Most of us who got there after 6 got right up front when it started getting sweaty.
Not going to any other shows (couldn't get tickets) but I am so happy I went to this one! By the way, my friend got the black shirt with all the "wave good bye" tour dates on the back and someone pointed out it had a misprint: two 8/22/09 dates listed, which was kinda funny...

I've been to 100s of shows in my life, and this one just replaced seeing Radiohead at the Malahide castle in Ireland last summer. Last night's show is now officially the greatest show I've ever been to. Aside from those 2 loudmouthed fat bitches behind me, it was a perfect evening. When that guitar comes in all crazy loud during TDS, I had tears running and goosebumps at the same time. And Dead Souls? Don't even get me started. Fucking EPIC. I was and am still utterly blown away. I met some really cool people too. I met a couple on the train afterwords that flew up from Florida for the show, and a couple of really cool guys that drove 10 hours from Canada to be there. It was an honor to be at such a show with so many fans, I loved it.

In a word, legendary.

Also, did anyone catch the after show music? I thought the Joy Division after the show was a nice touch. It was nice meeting so many fans! I'll look for you tonight! Heading down town now.

Agreed, but they also played Fever Ray and QOSTA before the show

yea Love Will Tear Us Apart was played right after the show which was perfect, and Turnin' on the Screw by QOTSA was played close to when NIN went on

Any one has pics/vids of the crowd/line ? I'm trying to spot myself somewhere. The one photo I could see myself was the "show time" shot on the photoblog.

Usually I don't care that much about pics, but right now, I think I'd really like to have a souvenir for THAT show. Fucking amazing, once in a life time kinda thing.

We had a lot of fun playing that show - thanks to those that attended. It felt weird and kind of "naked" being on that tiny stage with nowhere to hide, but that's why we chose to do these.
Let us know how the ticketing / getting in to the venue went please.

08/23/09 5:10 PM

Also, the camera recording policy for all these shows is RELAXED. No time to go into what that specifically means right this second - pass the word along.

Sorry- with the exception of V-Fest in Toronto - we have no control over that.

08/23/09 6:19 PM

I thought ticketing and entering the venue went very smoothly. Having the reps come around and pass out the tickets/give us the wristbands while we were in line was a great idea. Once the doors opened the lined moved very quickly into the venue.

Thanks for a great show, seeing you guys at that small of a venue was an amazing experience.

That bass made their show for me. I was in love with feeling that bass. That being said, I didn't understand a thing that came out of his mouth.

I was there with several hours to spare, but it went fairly smoothly from the (relative) front of the line. One small gripe is that the Bowery people split us into two lines, then started admitting people kind of arbitrarily, not paying attention to what order we were standing in before the line was split. I saw probably 20 people or more in the other line who were standing behind my friends and myself, but got in before us because they chose the "right" line. As we were standing right at the entrance, watching all these other people who were standing behind us get let in, my friend said to the guy admitting us, "These people were all in line behind us," pointing to the dozen or so standing at the front of our line; he stuck a finger in her face and glared at her, saying, "Calm down," but his tone was "Shut up," and his demeanor suggested he might leave us for last if she didn't comply.

All in all, it wasn't a really big deal, as the place was (obviously) very small, and everyone got more or less as close as they wanted to be. Also, i didn't think it was anyone in the NIN camp's fault. Wouldn't have even brought it up if it hadn't been asked, and i won't be at any of the other shows, but it might not hurt to tell the management of the other small venues to ask their people to respect the line integrity.

08/23/09 7:15 PM

Gotta say, The ticket thing was kinda shady. I walked to the door to ask how to pick up my tickets and they told me to wait in line. As I was walking to the line I had some guy walk up to me and ask me if I needed tickets and asking for my ID. Maybe I'm just not trusting enough of NYC, but I asked some guy on line how he got his tickets before handing my ID to some dude on the streets. Other than that, process was smooth as butter.

Show was one of the best experiences in my life. Can't thank you enough Trent.

If you could post the details it would be greatly appreciated. I'd love to bring my dSLR (D90) and a couple of fast lenses to the Chicago Aragon Brawlroom show this Friday but they've always been very strict against cameras.
If I do get my camera in I promise to provide full sized pics to everyone on the forums.

Trust me, the "nakedness" was greatly appreciated! grinning smiley This was show #25 for me, and my fangirl travels definitely ended on a high note--nothing quite like seeing your favorite band playing such an intimate club show! I caught the Night of Nothing show in Atlanta in '96 in a venue not much larger than the Ballroom, but the overall energy from both band and audience was so much stronger and more positive last night...no comparison.

No problems with ticketing or getting in for me; I wasn't trying to ride the rail anyway, and ended up with a great view from the stage right/audience left balcony, so no complaints here. The only complication for me was getting past the merch table--it was a bit confusing as to which line was people buying merch and which one was people getting into the main room, but I'm guessing that was unavoidable due to the size of the venue.

Thanks for an amazing performance, and take care of yourselves, OK?

P.S. Hope you're enjoying the shirt smiling smiley

I thought ticketing went really well. I lined up just around the corner and was immediately was asked by NIN staff for my ID, as long as my guest was with me. In 5mins I received my wrist band and tickets. I thought that that was a great idea because it made the line move smoother as we already had our tickets and wristband at 7pm when the doors opened.

The Bowery was set up well and we got to the Merch table and went upstairs to the stage. Overall I thought getting in went pretty smooth.

Thanks for a great show and we all appreciate you doing such a small venue!

Hey Trent,

Thank you for the first two great shows on this leg. They rocked. You're simply a phenomenal musician. Very few can dominate an audience like you did both nights.

Hoping for Happiness in Slavery Tues or Wed - have not heard it live since Woodstock -94 (I'm praying)

Regarding ticketing - very smooth. NO problems, no delays, but scalpers have not been ruled out. The wrist bands are not hard to cut and retape. Giving them out outside makes this possible. I'd hate to see the delays if everyone had to get them inside and quite frankly I'd rather the scalpers sell two than waste one, but scalpers are still making money on your time. If there's a next time, maybe buy one only or both names on the list...

Anyways, thanks for everything

So far, so good with the ticketing. At both this show and Webster, it was smooth sailing --- the ticketing setups for both shows, although different from each other, were both seemingly more efficient than the occasion clusterfuck that occurred on the NIN/JA dates. The extra effort is much appreciated.

That set list is so amazingly epic i cant help but feel like everyone else got the short end of the straw with the other shows. tongue sticking out smiley Dont get me wrong now, before i get dismissed for 'bitching', however after seeing that setlist i just think 'why couldn't he have just done that in the first place?'

It's like they toured the world playing these awkwards sets, only to then say 'now for the REAL shows' where they play an amazing set list full of Year Zero and assorted awesomeness, which only really served to point out how misguided the NIN/JA and Wave Goodbye setlists were in the first place. It's a shame.

Had they played setlists like this at every show i think it would have been the most memorable tour of all time.
