Oh my fucking shit. I feel abused in the absolute best way. Manhandled. Trenthandled.

08/23/09 9:12 PM

Holy shit.

Words would not do it justice, so I won't write any.

08/23/09 9:22 PM

Best NIN show I've ever seen (out of 10). Sincerely.

I nabbed two siIiiick videos of Metal and HLAH that I'll upload overnight.

!!!!!!!!!

08/23/09 9:24 PM

Epic show. Would've loved an encore but probably didn't get one because its too damn hot in Webster Hall. Trent looked like he ran a marathon by the end of the show.

08/23/09 9:50 PM

Fucking Amazing.

(For the remaining Wave Goodbye shows...this is the one to beat.)

Amazing.

And Trent, we all know you're reading this thread...It's bittersweet seeing the band go because you're clearly at the top of your game. Thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to say a final goodbye.

Amazing show. Bummed that it's my last. But what a way to go out. Thanks for the music and great performances, Trent.

08/23/09 10:00 PM

Oh shit! Maybe they will play Fragile in its entirety next. Would be amazing

08/23/09 10:03 PM

Awesome show, and hearing TDS in its entirety was brilliant and definitely the highlight of all the NIN shows I've been to.

Anyone know why there wasn't an encore? The show just ended so suddenly...

Luis

First, huge thanks to Trent, Justin, Robin, Ilan, Rob, and everyone else involved in what was the best fucking show I have ever seen. I can never go to a show by another band now because I know I'll just walk out saying, "Meh,it wasn't NIN at Webster." (Unless Ilan takes TNR on tour. I'll make an exception there) It was the perfect finale and the perfect final splurge/release for me before I have to go back to life as an unemployed librarian.

Second, thank you, thank you, thank you to my wonderful fellow fans who helped me out through the night. First, when the insane push knocked me over and everyone around me helped me up instead of trampling me to get closer to the stage. Second, when I almost passed out right before Hurt and the people around me immediately checked if I was okay and helped me get to the side. My faith in humanity is slightly renewed.

Third, I apologize to anyone I clawed, kicked, jabbed, elbowed, ect. I'm five foot tall, which eliminates brute force as a survival technique when being crushed by a surge of people determined to get that one extra inch closer to the stage.

Thanks to the band and the fans for the great night.

08/23/09 10:06 PM

WOW! Awesome show!!! Best yet...we got "Ruiner," and "The Becoming."

More later, must sleep now.

08/23/09 10:06 PM

Wow what a show. Fucking awesome. Thank you Trent! Filmed the almost the entire show, only missing part of TDS because I needed to change the battery. Will point some directions where to find it when I'm able to. Simply mind meltingly awesome show. Wow...

08/23/09 10:07 PM

this is the last nin show I'll be able to see on the tour, and I couldn't have asked for a better way to end it. This was the best show, NIN or otherwise, I've ever attended. When he played Mr. Self Destruct into Piggy, I knew something was up, but didn't get my hopes up until I heard Closer creep into the set. I definitely lost a gallon or more of sweat tonight, but it was well worth it. Other than Downward Spiral, Suck and Lights In The Sky were both phenomenal. There was not a single song i would have changed. I hope he comes back whenever he's ready. I'll be waiting.

08/23/09 10:08 PM

Side note. A Warm Place for the first time ever (I'm pretty sure). HOLY CRAP that was an epic show.

08/23/09 10:13 PM

all of halo 8.

omg.

ended up hanging out by the soundboard with folks I met on alt.music.nin in 1994-5, including someone who had inexplicably never made it to a show until tonight.

and, the record that brought us together? The Downward Spiral.

Yeah...

wow.

Thanks soooooooo much.

Somehow I got in, and it was unbelievable; to Dawn who posed as my "mother", THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Unbelievable show, I wish I could say "aw man I wish there had been more from Pretty Hate Machine instead" (as thats my favorite album) but I can't, it was just too fucking good. The perfect show, nothing can top this for me......well maybe if I hadn't been sitting in front of the drunk belligerent guy who talked every time it was quiet enough, and screamed so loud I couldn't hear trent, on at least half of the songs. Even that guy can't ruin what an amazing night this was. THANK YOU, TRENT!

I wonder what the deal with the no encore was, I don't even care, it was amazing :]

08/23/09 10:17 PM

DEFINITELY ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS I HAVE EVER BEEN TO.... would have been nice to hear a few newer songs but getting the entire TDS was definitely worth it, Although it did end a little strangely with no encore it was well worth it!

08/23/09 10:23 PM

Holy shit. The guy who said there are no words is the closest to spot on there is. I've seen NIN about 20 times across the last 15 years, and none came even close to this. I noticed the flow of the set right after Piggy, but Ruiner just confirmed where it was headed - HOLY FUCKING BIG MAN WITH A GUN!

It was hot as hell in there, and, while disappointed, not surprised there was no encore - I could barely stand on my way home, I can only imagine how the band felt. I can only imagine what happens at the next two Terminal 5 shows and beyond. They've given themselves a tall task with what transpired tonight.

Aaaaaaaaaand, I was lucky enough to grab a setlist - The Big Come Down was after Suck and not played.

Also, the bottom was torn off after HLAH, which leads me to believe there was an encore, and they just couldn't muster the energy - especially since the techs first brought out extra mic stands and mics before taking the stage down.

Thanks so much to Trent and the band for an incredible night, and for 20 years of amazing memories. Personally, I had felt like the Wave Goodbye tour was lacking... but these last two nights prove that they GET IT, they know how much this means to us, and the next 10 days of shows are going to be truly special.

See y'all on Tues and Weds... and wishing I could be in Chicago and LA with all ya lucky bastErds smiling smiley

Andrew

I'm greatly looking forward to this, since all the video I shot with my iPhone ended up having awful sound, :-(.

Were you by any chance filming from the right side of the soundboard?

At any rate, please let us know when we can take a look, :-)!

Why there was no encore: My best guess was that it was a Sunday night and the venue has a time limit?? No idea, really though. It was a long set and everyone was completely drenched in sweat.

I don't have anything to say that hasn't been said here. I have no idea how they're going to even attempt to top this at the T5 shows...

Wait, wait, on a side note: Fuck you Webster Hall. $5 for a bottle of water and you can't buy a decent ventilation system? Fucking extortionists.

Eventually, the sound guy (or the mob of guests in his area, more like) stopped blocking the set list from view, I got a decent view of it.

There was no planned encore on the setlist. The show was supposed to end with HLAH. But, because the house lights hadn't come back up properly, even we were reluctant to leave until he assured us it was over. (The venue doesn't have much in the way of house lights, apparently.)

AFAIK, only one song was dropped ("The Big Come Down" ), and I'd not be surprised if that was due to the venue turning into one giant, sweaty armpit.

At Bowery I remember thinking I was cooler in there than I'd been in my own home for the past week or so. I live in Boston and don't have AC. Tonight's show felt... just like home. :/

So worth it.

Mind blowing show. I couldn't believe they played the entire Downward Spiral album! Simply amazing. Best show ever! I don't think the Terminal 5 shows will be able to top this show unless they plan on playing the entire Pretty Hate Machine album from star to finish.

Oh yeah, a big fuck you to the idiot couple who tried to tag team me and get me thrown out by the bouncer. It's not my fault your fat bitch kept flailing her arms at me. I was just standing there. I have a right to defend myself when I'm being attacked. Ironically you guys pushed me to a better viewing spot for the rest of the show.

Webster is not a union venue, so there is no curfew. I've been to shows there on weeknights that have ended at midnight, and on nights when it's a club (including Sundays), it's opne til 4.

As for the water, that kind of sucks, but where were you? On three separate ocassions they had venue employees walking around down near the stage handing out free bottles of cold water. Odd that it wasn't happening near the board.

08/23/09 10:41 PM

I lucked out and bought a ticket at the venue because of twitter. It was so amazing.
my mind, it was blown.

Indeed. I was in front of Robin and the soundboard. I'm looking for a decent audio source as the one I have on the video is below what it should be. I promise you'll all get a chance to get the video. And a pretty crappy preview of what I've got later tonight.

Edit: A Warm Place

Edit again: Ruiner

Need me some good audio.

This is my first post ever. After what we witnessed tonight, with every aching muscle and every dried bead of sweat still on me, I felt compelled to post as soon as I got home.

My girl and I were ready to chase Leo all over the city again! BTW Trent, even though we didn't catch him...that was fun. Unfortunately, we don't have an iphone to follow his movements today. We walked over to Webster once twitter wasn't posting locations. We were going just to hang but found out a limited number of tickets were released at 6:30pm. We had a horseshoe up our ass.

This is our 6th show and the best EVER! I didn't even realize he was doing TDS until A WARM PLACE cause of the chaos, heat and madness in there. THEY ROCKED WEBSTER HALL OFF ITS FOUNDATION! The floor was giving way at MR. SELF DESTRUCT!

It was an endurance test, but it was the greatest concert we've ever seen.
No encore? Who Cares?
You think people who weren't there will be thankful they weren't at the show because there was no encore?
TDS! Lights in the Sky! Metal! Physical!
Shame they weren't filming tonight.
NOTHING CAN TOP THIS NOW!
Thank you Trent!

08/23/09 11:58 PM

pretty solid show. kinda sad at no encore, but i kinda wanted to get out of there 'cause it was somewhere between one billion and five billion degrees in there.

boo to the guy and girl in front of me who kept talking about how much they liked each song during each song.
