i liked when that guy screamed "1 2 3" during hurt....it was in perfect timing!

I am still recovering....my girlfriends feet were bloody and she got strangled by some guy but we survived.

I never sweated that much in my entire life...I thought I died at one point....sometimes I still think I died there on the floor and this isnt real...

here is a pic of my gf's foot...thank you to the guy who caught her when she fell smiling smiley

Why there was no encore: My best guess was that it was a Sunday night and the venue has a time limit??

$5 for a bottle of water and you can't buy a decent ventilation system? Fucking extortionists.

There was no encore because there should NOT have been an encore. An epic two hour show including the entire, in order, performance of The Downward Spiral is not something you can top with a couple more greatest hits in an encore. I think Trent ended last night's show as he should have...without an encore.

And personally I can not criticize the venue. It must be impossible to keep a room like that cool with all those bodies in NYC in August. It was a great space with amazing sound. I could actually feel the air conditioning at times, up above mass of humanity that had melted into one collective ball of sweat. You had to be 8 feet tall to get to it though. Sadly $5 for water is what you'd pay at any arena, festival, etc. It's supply/demand. You are not wrong to be annoyed, but they are no worse than any festival, airport, sporting event, etc.

I understand that WH was giving out free ice water in a cup as well.

Not sure what the Terminal 5 shows hold in store, but it's going to be a monster to try and top this one. I cannot wait to see what they have planned for us.

This show - YEARS from now - will be known as The Legendary Webster Hall show. People will speak of it as we do Woodstock or the Irvine Plaza show.... I have never felt such intensity at a show - we were soaked with sweat - our fingers pruned up from it. It was the greatest feeling in the entire world that I have ever felt. 15 years ago I became a fan - I played that Cassette - yes Cassette - god I don't even know how many times - but yuo all do since we all did the same.

To have that fucking masterpiece preformed live for us was such and unbeleiveable honor - I am so grateful to everyone - it was teh full cirlcle - of TR - his lyrics - and everyone beside me on that rail - in that pit - up in the balconies and following on facebook and Twitter. I love you all - you are my family - and when I finally brooke down and cried in teh middle of A Warm Place , it was becasue I knew - for the rest of my life - when ever I need to go "Someplace - else" That moment, on that rail - with everyone - is where I will go back to whenever I need hope.

To be 14 years old an alone playing that record was such a cool thing and a comfort - to us all - but that..... That was everything I could have asked for. It was The Downward Spiral - in reality - and I wasn't alone... I can't beleive that just happened. I can not even begin to process this...

So many beautiful words in this thread. This is what music is for, this how we find out we are all the same, when we all hear the same incredible sounds and some part of our beings each reverberate on the exact same frequency, as our souls simultaneously and spontaneously recognize, in this imperfect world, a small pure fragment of truth.

Secondly, the fucking floor was like a SPRING, it felt we were all packed onto a stiff mattress, you could literally see the mic stands wobble as we rocked the fuck out together - amazing feeling, like no other venue for sure.

my fiance, with whom i attended the show, has an old rib and back injury that gets aggravated when he stands for long periods of time, so at shows he often has to go find a place to sit down for a while.
so at this show, he went downstairs and found a place to sit, on a sofa-thing next to the Zoltar machine near some double doors... and he reports that the doors took to swinging violently at times! we put together that it was probably from the shaking floor!
mostly we were behind the bar -- still a great view -- and i didn't notice the floor shaking there. which was probably a good thing, as that would have freaked me out!!!

Just out of curiosity - anyone know the actual attendance at that show? 1200? +/-?

Not that it hasn't been said in the countless posts, but holy crap! I really can not believe what I had witnessed last night. I seriously think that was truel the single best show I had ever been to by any band. It was well worth the 4 hour drive from NH. Phenominal! I don't even think any words I can use can even come close to to any sort of explaination of the thoughts and emotions in my mind from that show. I saw a couple shows on the NINJA tour and thought to myself, this can not be the end. Not like this. I was fired up to hear these new dates. I almost missed it too. I failed at the original onsale. The secondary sale last week was a fail becuase I was $3 shy on my credit card and got declined. A buddy of mine from work actually scored tickets and the rest is history.

Thank you very much NIN. I feel much beter now that I have had an official chance to "wave goodbye"!!!

Dudes .. I'm getting emotional just thinking about that show. Seriously. Unbelievable performance from my favorite band playing my favorite album. Loved being in the pit the whole night and there was no fucking way I was leaving it .. (even while almost passing out .. twice)

.. I just want to crawl in my bed and relive the night for the next week.

Best show I have ever seen. Without a doubt. The band was amazing, and the sound was perfect. My god, to be at 'THAT SHOW' will be something I will never forget. I won't say anything more about the band, its been said better already than I ever could put it. One thing I def want to mention was how amazing it was to be surrounded by people whom all feel the same way about the music as I do. Honestly, best crowd of all time, ya'll made the 4 to 5 hour trip from New England worth it.

I sweated off a few pounds last night (I can't get much thinner people...), but found that my Prodigy shirt had gained about five pounds, in sweat. I took that sucker off when I got to my car and tossed it on the pavement. It was like dropping a phone book, just one that splattered. A-MAZ-ING.

i've loved reading what everyone had to say. We ALL were in the same zone. Jaw-dropping, epic... words really do it injustice. Aside from a few folks, the vibe was amazing. i haven't felt comeraderie, love, or intense orgasmic head-explosions from music like that since the last time i saw the Dead. NOT the same kind of crowd, but tonight, maybe just one night, eerily similar. Was there anyone-IS there anyone that doesn't still have that shit-eating grin still stuck there?

What a goddamn GIFT it was to be able to play that show....

These past two nights have been really heavy. I'm already sentimental about them, but of course I'm an old softie.

Love to you,
JMJ

Thanks for that, it made me misty-eyed. I'm an old softy, too. We all had a kick-ass time TOGETHER. I've never felt more connected to a performing band.

Thanks, Trent for all the years, and sharing your gift.
Thanks, Justin, oh great master of the lower frequencies.
Thanks, Ilan- you got a great future, kid. Watching you play is a joy.
Thanks, Robin-I'm glad it was YOU here at the end. You shredded my dna.
And thanks to everyone else that works so hard for this band.

I feel like i won the lottery twice. Once to score tickets, and second, to be there for this.

My 6th and best nin show.

Me and my girlfriend drove up from Atlanta. I was the dude in the OMG WTF shirt. Which actually sums up the show in a way smiling smiley

I never thought I'd hear ruiner eraser and lights in the sky live, let alone in the same show.

My favorite band. My favorite album. My favorite city and 1498 other lucky fans.

Some tech note for you bean counters:

Mr. Self Destruct had the Adrian belew guitar samples in the end so the transition to piggy was flawless.
March of the pigs did NOT have the All the pigs ending, again like the album.
Closer DID have the only time breakdown but Trent (accidentally?) played the synth part on his piano and it sounded wired so the break was more reminiscent of Closer than TOT. He didn't sing "this is the only time I really feel alive." hey, he's human. smiling smiley

that's all for now. Just got in. 16 hours in the car today and WORTH IT. Much love.

I have never posted before. After having a full day to let it all sink in, I don't have to repeat what everyone else has said. I consider myself to be supremely lucky to have experienced last night at Webster Hall, it will stay with me forever.

My first nin show was in July of 1990 at a place smaller than Webster Hall, the Peppermint Beach Club in Virginia Beach, VA. The opener that night was Meat Beat Manifesto and the city fire marshal actually forced the club to get 200 people to leave. The place was horribly overcrowded and just like last night, became a mass of bodies and sweat. I left that show drained, exhausted and I felt that I had just had a life-changing experience.

In the ensuing years my appreciation for Trent's music just became stronger, and an amazing thing also happened - a community grew and evolved. It was more than just being "fans", Trent struck a chord and connected with us in ways no one else had or ever will. To be able to share this last experience with all who were there is indescribable.

I have had some amazing experiences with nin over the years, some of the highlights:

- In 1995 they had to cancel a show at the Pensacola Civic Center due to a power outage before nin took the stage. Trent came out and promised to make it up to us. He did a few months later by playing a surprise show at the much smaller Bayfront Auditorium. They opened the show with "Head Like A Hole", never saw that happen before or since.
- During the 2000 Fragility tour at Madison Square Garden, saw Marilyn Manson and Trent bury the hatchet and perform "Starfuckers" and "The Beautiful People" together.
- The 2008 Lights In The Sky tour. Enough said.
- The 2005 With Teeth club tour, saw them perform in another small venue - the Electric Factory in Philly.

In my wildest dreams I could never have imagined that my eighteenth and final nin show would make all the previous ones pale in comparison. I left Webster Hall last night feeling the exact same way I did nineteen years ago - drenched in sweat and happier than I had ever been.

A massive thank you is called for to Trent, Robin, Justin and Ilan - as well as the entire band crew and my fellow members of the nin community that were in attendance. This show has provided closure on a chapter of my life with Trent's music, and it could not have been more perfect.
