I can't even look at my pile of downward spiral cds without feeling down....I had such a great time and I will miss going to all the nin shows.

I listened to them forever yesterday, and felt the same way sad smiley Post-Concert Depression has hit.

Yes! I get that way too, big time. Going to visit a friend in Virginia tomorrow. Hopefully that will help. It will pass! Hang in there!

^^It's a phenomena of NIN shows .. happens a lot actually. This particular case is worse cuz there are no more NIN shows(for most of us) and the high of Webster was in the clouds. I've been in the dumps all week .. like, a lot worse than the usual.

omg, seriously I thought I was acting like a baby.

I feel like a jilted lover.

I mean NIN didn't even CALL me!!

It's like NIN doesn't even CARE about me!!

In 100% seriousness though, it's so strange. It honestly feels kind of like I broke up with someone and I really didn't want to.

My friend and I drove down from Maine (6 hours) and I refused to listen to anything on the ride home, not even NIN. I didn't want any music mixing with my memory of the show until I had time to sleep on it.

I got home at 8 am. Realized I'd been up since 7 AM Sunday and called out of work and stayed in bed all day.

OMG I am so glad I am not alone. I was able to go to WH amd Bowery but not Terminal 5. Webster was it for me after being a fan and seeing NIN shows for 20 years. Tuesday while the Terminal 5 show was happening I literally sat here glued to this board and Twitter crying my eyes out.

The fact that NIN as I know it if OVER hit me hard! Wrapping my arms around never seeing another NIN show was just to overwhelming all I could do was cry.

I really thought I was having a mid-life crisis. Maybe I am?

Short clips, but I felt like Ruiner was great with Robin, and Heresy was just in my opinion a full example of what it felt like in the pit, amazing.

To hear Ruiner live that night was insane...*bites fist*

Plus I keep watching A Warm Place and Eraser vids(thankyou all who uploaded them) and I get chills...

While I posted before about how stupendous this show was, now that I’ve been to the 2nd Terminal 5 show, I need to reiterate that it wasn’t just an amazing show, it was one of the best shows I’ve attended in my 35 years or so of fairly steady concert going. I’ve heard a lot of wonderful music and enjoyed many great shows (9 of them other NIN shows) but every now and then, there is a show that is an category of its own where you know that it will be something you remember for a long time.

In 1979 I went to see a band called the Gang of 4 at a tiny club in Toronto called the Edge. They had just released or were about to release their first LP. Punk was relatively new. The anger, the rage, the fact of a mosh pit, the type of music, the lyrics, the attitude and the performance – all were unique at that time. I knew I was experiencing one of the most transformative gigs ever – not just for me but for the direction that music was going to take. I will never forget the expression on Andy Gill’s face, Jon King’s vocals, or the pogo thrashing/dancing in the pit. It didn’t hurt that Gill was a dead ringer for James Dean. I saw Gang of 4 again, but nothing rivaled that show. At the opposite extreme, and as another example, I attended my first (and only) festival in 1980 in a parched and dusty field, and at one point Talking Heads came onto the stage with a whole new lineup including Nona Hendryx and Adrian Belew and played Remain in Light before anyone had heard it – and the crowd of 80,000 was silent because they wanted to hear every word and every note. And then there was last Sunday at Webster. Thanks to wise ticketing policies, everyone there was a true fan desperate to be there. And everything clicked – not automatically, but because it was clear all involved poured heart and energy and skill into it. And even the songs I’d heard and enjoyed before were crisper somehow and more passionate.

TR has asked how the paperless ticketing worked (I’ll limit myself here to how it worked in terms of the night of show, not as to obtaining tix) and I’ll say that it was great. I was extra grateful at the release of the few tickets last week as that’s how I got a ticket.

Thank you to the band for a truly memorable experience.

I just listened to the whole show cranked up to 11! in my car all the way home. I can't thank this community enough for capturing the last few months.

CD is unbelievable but actually made me kinda sad at the same time.......

THANKYOU NIN_SLAVE!! Your audio is faaaaaaaaaabulous!

Its great to listen to and relive what was possibly the greatest NIN show ever performed and to be performed...you know..without having to worry about passing out from the heat or being crushed against the rail winking smiley

and yeah...Knowing this was the last time...I kinda feel like my best friend died. We had some great times together, we grew together and I can't even tell you how many times TDS ALONE has saved my life...15 years...

Listening to the albums is going to be like going through saved letters and old notes that were tucked away from friends long gone

Yeah, I can totally relate to all those who are saying they're feeling depressed after coming down from the high of a NIN show. I felt that way after the Jones Beach show back in June, thinking that was the last time I'd ever see NIN.

This week has been totally different for me, though. I grabbed NIN_Slave's recording off of Dime and I've been listening to it over and over and over. I feel nothing but a sense of awe and total gratitude for having been a part of that experience last Sunday night. I'm still riding the high, a full week later.

I get goosebumps hearing the crowd shout out the chorus to "Mr. Self Destruct" and "Heresy". You knew right there that this was going to be an awesome show because it was such an awesome crowd.

More goosebumps with "It won't give up! It wants me dead! And goddamn this noise inside my head!" And "Kill me! Kill me!" And don't even get me started on "A Warm Place".

Jesus.

The hard part for me is going to be the next few concerts I end up going to, whatever they may be. I just have to remember that NIN@WH 8/23/09 stands apart from all other concerts I have ever seen or will ever see (probably). I can't expect the next show to be on that level - I just have to appreciate it for what it is. Stay in the moment, you know?

I don't care that the hall was really hot - after each song on TDS played in order, I was more and more in awe each time thinking "Are they really gonna play all the way through it"? The hall itself had that really old, close-in feel to it as well. The floor shook so much I thought it was going to cave in. If it did I thought to myself I wouldn't really care if I died at a NIN show! What a way to go. But, everyone I bumped into (literally) was really nice, and after the show between hanging out at the bar across the street, and waiting for the subway, I kept bumping into other folks who also attended the show and everyone had that "Holy fuck did that just happen" feel. We were all on the same wavelength. I kinda wish I got the NY poster but they were gone. sad smiley

Since i've heard this a few times hear and i know what's going on, i figured i'd say something. that building is about a 100 years old and still in pretty much original condition. There actually is air conditioning but the building just gets hot when it's full and not much can be done. And as for the shaking floor, the whole building is built like a bridge. If you look at the railings on the balcony, they actually go up into the ceiling and connect to the girders. It was built to hold massive amounts of people at the turn of the 20th century and they built it to flex and move because that was the technology they had. I know the owners and just thought i mention that they know it gets hot and can't (reasonably) do anything about it and it was built to flex and shake.

BTW, this was the goodbye show i've been waiting for. Went to Ja/nin show in mass and was disappointed due to loosing my wallet mid show (got it back afterwards, but it distracted me during) and an asshole security guard. I was only able to go to one of the NYC shows, and so far it seems like i picked the most memorable one. Thank you all, this was a night i'll never forget. I was so happy. Hell i woke up the next morning on a friend's couch and my pants were still drenched in sweat! Thank you NIN. This has been a part of my life since 1997 and has always added something to my life. Hell i remember loving HLAH, having only heard it once and singing the chorus to myself years later only to find out it was a nin song when i bought PHM. Thank your for doing it right, almost noone cares enough to do that, and it is something that has brought me to respect NIN like few other bands. Awesome show, can't believe i was there for it.

100% agree with you on EVERYTHING in this post. I was also at the MA show for NINJA and it was a great setlist, but didn't compare to this show (I'm from Maine so this was the only Wave Goodbye show I could go to/got tickets to). I'm so pumped at the whole show and could have cared less about the heat (my shirt was soaked through within an hour and I was still loving it.).

Amazing show, amazing way to say goodbye, and STILL IMO the best show in the tour so far, regardless of Peter Murphey and the other setlist being longer, the Downward Spiral made this show, and pretty much made this tour...and almost, and I say almost, made this band for me.

08/31/09 10:09 AM

I kind of came to know NIN through TDS, so to me, in a lot of ways NIN IS TDS.

I could not imagine a better possible setlist for what NIN is to me.

It's things like this that kind of make me feel like I may control the universe....or at least MY universe...and you are all just here to entertain me.....

dance piggies, dance.
