Thanks to everyone who posted videos! Watching them this morning, I almost still can't believe I was at the show last night. The heat, the crowd, the sweat, band & songs performed at Webster ... all of it combined was incredibly unreal.

-Can't wait until tomorrow night

Well on train back to where I started. Listening to TDS.....can't believe it's over! I flashed back to 1994 the last time he played TDS in it's enitirty (I think with a little PHM in there too). It was in a big staduim Jim Rose Circus and Manson opened.

My only regret is that I didn't get to hear Sin one last time. Oh well, Dead Souls and Down in it at Bowery was a nice surprise.

I feel like part of my world since 1989 is ending and I'm sad in a way but glad to have been part of it for so long and have seen every tour at least once.

I remember seeing TR at Lolla 1 and he absolutely brought down the house! He was just starting to get known and there were a lot of well established bands there but he was the one to beat! I never in all my days was part of a mosh pit that included thousands of ppl completely losing their minds except for that show.

All these years later he still has that thing that made that crowd (many of them who didn't know him at all) breach insanity! Myself included. I got my ass handed to me that day, front teeth kicked out and all but couldn't leave that stage. Not then not now! No matter how much pain I'm in from ppl stomping on my feet and pushing or how hot and dehydrated I feel I can't pull myself away.

Now what?? Sigh>>

14th and final time seeing NIN. Been going to shows since I first saw Trent at Lollapalooza a LIFETIME ago. Nothing in my life has really put me in the place that NIN and everything NIN related can put me in.

The setlist was amazing. Pretty much figured it out by Heresy that it was going through TDS. Finally got to see Heresy live!!! (He's been avoiding playing it at the shows I was at for NIN/JA).

To Trent: Thank you so much for putting on such an amazing performance time and time again. I could not have asked for a better musician to follow as my favorite since my youth. You have amazed me over and over again throughout the years, and I am forever indebited to you for all that you have done.

To Justin/Ilan/Robin/Rob & rest of the NIN Crew(s): You are amazing at what you do. Thank you for all the hard work you put into NIN. It really shows.

To my NIN family. Once again, thanks for EVERYTHING. You rock like nobody else. I met some great people and my only sadness is that I don't get numbers or facebooks, or twitters to be able to continue our conversations. We are all obviously connected in at least one way, and when we all get to talking, it's apparent that we are more alike in many ways. I love you all, and would not be able to enjoy NIN as much without all of you there. From the bottom of my (violent) heart, I thank you.

Regards,
Ryan

About 3-4 years ago I saw NIN play london and they played the first 7 songs from the downward spiral. I would have loved to have seen this show as the downward spiral is my favourite album. If there is any good bootlegs to this show then please get incontact. I hope that there would be an official release of this show because it seems pretty cool.

I have to chime in, can't resist.

What a goddamn GIFT it was to be able to play that show. I could die now and be quite content, if only because as a collective audience you people were so spectacular and kick-ass.

These past two nights have been really heavy. I'm already sentimental about them, but of course I'm an old softie.

To those who were waiting after the show, sorry that I had to split so quickly. I'll try to make it up to you, for those of you that might be joining us at one of the Terminal 5 gigs.

Today = recover & rest.

Love to you,
JMJ

I may be in the minority, but I preferred this show to the Bowery. How long did it take people to realize they were doing The Downward Spiral in its entirety? I'm almost embarassed, haha. I flipped out over 'Ruiner' and I love how Trent pumped the microphone to beat of the song. IT WAS SUCH A GOOD SHOW! The setlist, the band, the energy of the crowd, the venue... it may go down as my favorite NIN show I've seen. Depends on tomorrow!

It's always great to read a band member enjoying the show as much as the audience. Glad you enjoyed it.

I knew as soon as Piggy started they were gonna do the whole thing.

I was a little nervous he was only going to run up to Closer and then switch after that. SO glad he didn't.

I thought Metal was going to go into Survivalism or Beginning of the End...although it would have been cool to hear survivalism live, I'm not 0.000001% disappointed.

Does anyone know what instrument Trent was playing in the beginning of "Eraser"? It reminded me of his sax solo during the same part for the Bowie tour...

i'm pretty sure it was just the mouthpiece and neck of an alto sax. i played clarinet in school (i know: so, so cool) and you can make some pretty weird noises just playing the mouthpiece of wind instruments. i thought it was totally awesome that he did that--usually it's just the sample, right? fucking cool.

before the show, melting in the hot sun, i thought, "they're gonna play Eraser tonight." boy was i right...i am so grateful to have seen this show. kicked ASS. whatever happens on tuesday, this was THE show.

also, what song did Robin crowdsurf?? i was right in front of him the whole time, but i bailed to get a coke during Physical. then i came back in for THTF. did i just miss it?

see y'all tuesday!!!

Aw, J! I was on your side as well and I gotta say, you were amazing! I'm so glad you posted this because it really is great to know we as fans, annoying as we may sometimes be, bring something good to your lives as musicians as well.

See you at Terminal 5 on Wednesday. Can't wait to share the last NYC NIN show with you.

Show itself…well what can I say? It was perfect. Couldn’t have asked for a better set list!! Okay, maybe it would have been slightly better if WITT was with it, but it was pretty damn near perfect in my opinion all the same. I was so hoping for Ruiner to be played at one of these shows and when it came out I couldn’t believe it. I think I even stopped taking photos for a brief moment in astonishment, which is saying something. The whole show was very energetic and there didn’t seem to be a point in it where the crowd seemed disengaged, at least from where I was standing. Trent, JMJ, Robin, and Ilan all came out on fire and gave it their best the entire show. Thanks for the great show guys!! By the time that it was all said and over I’m sure that 95% of the people on the floor looked like they had just climbed out of a swimming pool. I know that at least two did. tongue sticking out smiley

Other highlights for me were Heresy, The Becoming, Terrible Lie (that one never gets old!), and Closer (Yes, it finally made it back into rotation!!) I was also very happy to be able to see the other songs that I had missed out on last tour, like Physical, but all of the songs were great!!

I can’t wait to see what else is in store for the other shows!! I just find myself looking more and more forward to the next, the anticipation building all the while. grinning smiley

08/24/09 12:45 PM

All I can say is if Trent and the lads play The Fragile in its entirety in one of the next shows someone better be fucking taping!

I was just saying to my husband that it was totally obvious how into the show you were, Justin. I was right along the side of the stage where you were and I could see you intermittently through some of the rigging. It was like you were....I don't know....hypnotized, in a way.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for a night and a show I will never ever forget. You are freaking AMAZING.

I'm still trying to make sense of the whole night. No show has ever kicked my ass more and yet blown my mind at the same time. By I Do Not Want This I felt all my energy leave me but there was no way I was leaving the pit last night! I was second row, between JMJ and Trent, about a foot from the giant box where Robin crowd surfed from (!!!!) and where JMJ stood a couple times.

Meeting up with everyone, whether it was the first time or last of many, was wonderful as always. Honestly, after hearing about the Bowery show, I didn't know what to expect tonight. Rumor had it it would be something special, but never in our collective wildest dreams did we expect TDS in full! I could tell something was up when he cut MOTP short and then followed it with Closer... Wow, just wow! Ruiner??? Warm Place??!?! Pinch me, I'm dreaming! The sound was amazing, everyone in the band was amazing, the crowd was pleasantly rough... I can't really piece together anything more than that. I took video of the first two songs but after that just wanted to experience each moment in full, not through the camera viewfinder.

I have a few favorite shows for various reasons and this one certainly ranks above and beyond any I've ever seen (save for Mansfield when I had the M&G).

Trent, thank you so much for that show, thank you for creating these final few dates for all of us to experience, and thank you for giving what seemed to be your all last night. Your smile at the end of Hurt was priceless! I feel so privileged to be one of the ~1000 people who could witness that historic night.

Thank you, thank you, thank you and see you in LA!!!!!

I keep my posts few and far between...last night's show was certainly worthy. Trying to describe something that words can't express is a challenge... but I will say this, last night was very special. Anyone reading this, knows the setlist by now. The after-charge of a NIN show always lasts a while, but it's 3:15pm the next day, and I'm still very much feeling it. There was something about the show, that felt even bigger and better than the previous 45 that I've been to. Anyone who was there, knows exactly what I mean. More than another wave goodbye, it was a fulfilment of a dream for many of us. After spending the entire previous night in line, and struggling for air on the center of the barrier, I was left unsure of the reality of the whole thing... maybe it was some kind of great dream that we all are still waking up from. Someone on here said it best, last night is the show to beat for the rest of this tour. Thank you to the band, so very much! You have to know, last night, it was an honor for all of us to be there, a rare privilage to be a part of something that is truly fantastic!

08/24/09 1:18 PM

I'll post a long detailed thing later -

Right now I have to ask if anyone else happened to notice what happened between The Downward Spiral and Hurt....

It was so sureal and just - I don't know. While the songs Transitioned, TR stood in the shadows... he took a Black Towel and draped it over his head like a black hood. He realeased it, hung his arms at his sides, and just stood there with this black drape over his head. In the shadows, in that heat - it looked as if he had his old school long hair again 1994 TR - but it was him now...

The way he stood there frozen in taht position, it almost seemed intentional - so much so that I almost thought he would keep it on when he would walk forward to sing Hurt. He took it off of course - but I was wondering if anyone else caught that.

Its insane - for all that insanity I could have halucinated it - but I managed to get a photo of it. I'll post it later on facebook or my blog.

Anyways.... that was just unreal. We all talked about the posibilty of that set list for so long - we talked about it on line durring the day even, and once we were in waiting for the show to start - we somehow knew - but nothing could have prepared us. Nothing. Of all the shows I have seen, all the experieinces I have had over the years - that one was just --- such a profound expereince - beyond words, and I am so grateful to have done it with so many of the people I love.

This show - YEARS from now - will be known as The Legendary Webster Hall show. People will speak of it as we do Woodstock or the Irvine Plaza show.... I have never felt such intensity at a show - we were soaked with sweat - our fingers pruned up from it. It was the greatest feeling in the entire world that I have ever felt. 15 years ago I became a fan - I played that Cassette - yes Cassette - god I don't even know how many times - but yuo all do since we all did the same.

To have that fucking masterpiece preformed live for us was such and unbeleiveable honor - I am so grateful to everyone - it was teh full cirlcle - of TR - his lyrics - and everyone beside me on that rail - in that pit - up in the balconies and following on facebook and Twitter. I love you all - you are my family - and when I finally brooke down and cried in teh middle of A Warm Place , it was becasue I knew - for the rest of my life - when ever I need to go "Someplace - else" That moment, on that rail - with everyone - is where I will go back to whenever I need hope.

To be 14 years old an alone playing that record was such a cool thing and a comfort - to us all - but that..... That was everything I could have asked for. It was The Downward Spiral - in reality - and I wasn't alone... I can't beleive that just happened. I can not even begin to process this...
