I had a really good time at the show. I asked on the upcoming shows forum if I would be able to see anything. Somehow I was able to get right up at the front, although it was all the way over on the side. It gave me a great vantage point for Robin, which was a real treat, and then I could also see Ilan flailing away at times, which is more mindboggling than anything else. And Trent would come back and play keyboards, so I got a great view.
People were nice from start to finish. The club staff, the other patrons, the people I spoke with before the show. Thanks to Loren the photographer for the earplugs--I never would have been able to make it had it not been for his kindness. And the one security guy who let me drink out of his water bottle without my having to ask. I thought the T5 staff were the exact opposite of the pricks at a HoB gig.
I'd seen the show in Philly exactly a year before. And I was upset that I didn't go to the AC HoB show the next night, because of what I missed. I felt like I made it up to myself for being at the show on Tuesday.
Also, New Yorkers are nice. Everyone was friendly, whether I was at the show or on the street. Poor natives must get asked for directions, but they were really friendly to me. And I feel really safe in New York no matter what time of day it is. I wish I could feel that safe in my own city.
Wasn't really crazy about Peter Murphy on Reptile, because it's soooooo damn good live, but as a Bauhaus fan from way back, what the hell. I was wishing for a Third Uncle, myself.
Last but not least, sorry to Rob. He was trying to get past me, and I didn't see his camera. He'd asked about standing where I am, not trying to get past me, and I thought he was just trying to switch places with me. Didn't recognize him until after he made it past the security line at the side of the stage and I saw his camera. Once I apologized after seeing he was a photographer, he was very gracious about it. At the beginning, I thought he was just trying to get me to give up that space.
