Fucking amazing show. The crowd seemed VERY into the show to me (between justin and trent). I can only hope it's as good tonight as well.

EPIC SHOW! 31 straight songs and no encore! Loved it!

My highlight was the cover of Joy Division's Atmosphere with Peter Murphy. I think that is the first time NIN has EVER played that song. Also, was a big fan of Dead Souls from The Crow soundtrack (also a Joy Division cover).

Chicago crowd was pretty lame. Am I the only person that enjoys a NIN show without the aid of some kind of substance(numerous frat boy beers or some form of drugs)? Sure seemed that way last night.

great setlist, anyone know what the song was before Atmosphere?

That list looks fine - I don't remember there being anything between Down In It and Atmosphere. La Mer was before The Fragile.

It was a great show! I was also on JMJ's side, just past the mosh zone, so I was able to stay one row off the rail and keep my place the entire time. It's really something special to witness a show where the songs keep coming and coming, no breaks and you don't know what may happen next! When PM came out, I could hear him, but I could not see him because a speaker stack was blocking my view of that balcony/box. So I was looking around, up at the ceiling waiting for him to descend, which of course didn't happen. He just came bounding out on stage for the next song, so much fun!

It was great to hear Last, Down In It and especially Lights In The Sky. That song is very powerful live.

I was so hoping that they would play Only and rock the disco ball, but maybe tonight, haha!

I uploaded one pic for now:

Hmmmm, well you are certainly one of the only ones who doesnt enjoy a little bit of substance enhancement during concerts.

Good show, but a bit of a letdown in certain spots. I think Discipline, and all of the cover songs, were really a buzzkill and we could've easily gone without them. Almost made the show too long. If they would've gone from Down In It straight into a small 1-2 minute break with darkness then Head Like a Hole and Hurt. All the slip shit and covers caused all of the talking and boredom among the crowd. Don't start playing covers 20+ songs into your set. My 2 cents.

Hey, I had fun, enjoyed myself, danced, etc. The connie's pizza and water really helped during the lame cover songs, so thanks connies for being there for us.

Getting out of that place always begs the question of what it would be like in a fire, as it is like squeezing a mass of humanity out of a tiny asshole going down all those stairs and out the front door.

You're not the only one. I prefer to actually remember the experience, rather than it be some fucked up blur with NIN in the background.

Amazing show, but the crowd seemed oddly subdued. I was hoping for a little more energy...

Reznor and Co. seemed to have plenty of energy, despite the crowd...

nice venue, but their handicapped accomodations sucked...

to those bitching because people want to have a few beers or smoke a joint, sorry, I came to have a good time, and if that includes a few beers, thats my business...mind your own business

Now that i think about it, last night, while memorable if it is truly their last show, did not hold a candle to the Fragile tour. Nothing has since. 2000 was the best year for live NIN ever.

08/29/09 8:56 AM

I really loved the setlist, brought it hard early!

Peter Fucking Murphy, what a performer! I was skeptical when I heard he'd be there, but he totally changed my mind.

I thought the band had more energy for that show than the many I saw for the NINJA tour. Thanks for the great performance!

Ilan will one day be a rock legend. Looking forward to seeing what's next with him after this tour.

Loved some of the songs we don't often get to hear -- they are special live, just gives a different take on them.

I was on the rail, so hard to tell how much the crowd was into it. Same normal complaints about douche bags yelling and talking inappropriately.

Think I got some great HD video, uploading it now. Will post eventually, keep watching here.

Tonight I hope to balance out my bruises, get on the right side.

Back down in it...

Could any of you that went last night let me know what the policy is on purses/bags? I was reading on access.nin.com last night where some people were saying NO bags/purses whatsoever were allowed in and I need some confirmation on this for my girl...

Also - what was the situation with the balcony? Did those spots go fast once doors opened?

Is the merch cash only?

thanks! cannot wait for tonight!

I had a great time, the show kicked ass. Almost got a hand on Trents tambourine as it came sailing out into the crowd.

I think they should have a quiz when you order tickets so the serious fans get first shot, there were two college girls by us who 'only came for Closer' cause thats all they knew. Ticked me off cause I know a bunch of hardcore fans who would have killed to be there.

Anyway, KICK ASS SHOW, THANK YOU TRENT & CO.

I had what I think was the best spot in the balcony. Stage left as far forward as possible (just about parallel to the front of the pit) on the rail. I took a lot of video (Flip Ultra HD so it's just ok). It filled up pretty early but there were already probably 200-300 people on the floor (maybe 10 rows). The view was awesome.

I'll post a link to the entire set when it's ready.

My camera bag was not allowed in even though it was smaller than mos to the purses I saw. Luckily I asked before the show so it didn't cause any issues getting in.

I thought the show was incredible. The crowd on the left side of the stage on the rail was great except for one jackass that kept yelling 'fuck yeah' during quiet songs.

This was my first time waiting in line all day. Arrived at 9.15 and was about 30th in the nin.com presale line. Met some awesome people in line. Got annoyed when the line ahead of me kept growing. I sometimes feel like the only one who thinks you should have your entire party THERE when you arrive. Not fair for one person to hold a place at 6am for 3 others who show up at 2pm, you know? grah.

Anyway. I can't believe how grumpy they got with us about the damn line! Move up, move back, squish in, stand up, do jumping jacks. What do you WANT from us? sheesh!

Was totally stoked when we got banded. After that I was so nervous, I couldn't sit still. Don't think anyone else could, either!

The time finally came to go in, and of course they split us into guys and girls, and all the guys got through so much faster. So much for the line, eh? pfft.

Got my spot right in the crook of the rail in front of Trent, second row. STOKED! I was so damn excited about this spot, I thought I might pee my pants or cry or something. I did neither winking smiley I met some new cool people around me, and saw mooseknuckle himself (forgot your name here, sorry!) not far behind me, though he was in the Ticketmaster line. Shouted "Mooseknuckle!" at him, he laughed, and the girl next to me said "Why am I seeing ads?" YES! Genius.

Glad we didn't have to wait terribly long for Mew to come out. Did not really care for them. They weren't horrible, but they looked bored. One time the singer looked like he was going to cry. Dunno what that was about. I swear the two hours inside the venue waiting on NIN to start seemed longer than the nine hours in line waiting to get inside (which, honestly, went by SO FAST).

When NIN started with Pinion, I cried. I seriously cried! Then they moved into Wish and Last... I was FLIPPING out! Then they ruined it with Discipline. I was so terribly disappointed. You know they messed with us on purpose!

Over all, it was a GREAT setlist. The people around me DID NOT LET UP at all. I couldn't breathe (therefore couldn't sing) most of the time they were on stage. It was completely worth it, though, as it ALWAYS is. I am just disappointed that I was SO miserable when Peter Murphy came out that I don't recall Dead Souls much at all. I was to the point where I was mentally begging NIN to finish so I could get some relief. How sad. I hope that if they play Reptile tonight, I am not in the same position and can actually enjoy it, since I didn't get to do that with Dead Souls (a song I have been wanting to hear live). bleh!

I LOVED that Trent reverted to some old skool kicking and throwing of his instruments. I was stoked when he knocked over his keyboard and then threw his guitar across the stage! HELL YA, TRENT!

I think they gave an insane amount of energy. and I loved hearing Down in It finally. So raw! Tried to imagine what it would've been like back in the day.

Also felt like Trent was singing TO us down in front, rather than just at us... I swear he was looking people in the eyes most of the night. It was AMAZING. It felt so personal from where I was, that's for sure.

Loved most of my experience yesterday! Can't wait to go back and do it again today!

08/29/09 9:17 AM

Great show - great setlist. I was dead center back about 2-3 rows, and the place was nuts. Very fucking sore this AM (though this is 5 shows in 7 nights)

Still hoping for Happiness in Slavery, Sanctified, and Ringfinger on this tour. Beginning to think I'll have to remember these from the early 90s.

Fuck the security guys - what fucking assholes. In NYC at every show, they gave out boatloads of water - all you had to do was put your hand out and you had a bottle. Last night, they couldn't give out barely any. Once or twice I was able to get a bottle for a girl who looked like she was going to die and then the second she took a few sips, the asshole guard would demand the water back and fight for it rather than let it be passed around. I hope someone who passed out sues the venue - then getting the extra $5 for water won't be so worth it.

So other than the security guys (probably under the venues rules) being complete fucking asses, it was a great show.

Robin saw what was going on and twice immediately came over with 6 bottles. Hope he does it again tonight or that Trent demands they give out water. Come on.

I agree with this sentiment....mind your own business and I will add "shut up" during the quiet songs. That's exactly what I was thinking when Something I Can Never Have was ruined for myself and several others around me when a drunken a-hole was talking nonsense at the top of his lungs next to us during the song.

I don't even know how to express how INCREDIBLE last night was!

I will agree that the crowd was pretty....stagnant...in some places, but it was actually a pretty respectful and fun crowd for the most part! My section (to the right and directly behind/sometimes IN the moshpit) had a perfect view the whole time and a good mix of people moving and people standing still.

Mosh pit - actually pretty friendly! I kept seeing dudes high-five in it, and I laughed every time. There was a fight towards the end but the little fucker deserved it....he had his buddies launch him five rows up (to get closer, I guess?) and he demolished a couple girls behind the pit. I actually cried during "Hurt" (yeah yeah, I know, shut up) and a friendly boy from the mosh pit bonded with me. Thanks Friendly Boy!

For people who were in front of the pit, but not on the rail--how was the crowd there? Was it unbearable in terms of being able to move/being squished? I need to figure out where I want to be for tonight, haha.

Only one request tonight: I've seen NIN five times, and never seen Reptile. COME ON, NIN, GIMME "REPTILE"!! smiling smiley

I don't think that's what people are complaining about...having a few beers or smoking doesn't bother anyone (except for maybe blowing smoke in someones face), it's more the people that get wastey-face and belligerent or focus more on drinking/smoking than the actual show. Like...this girl I was around got all pissed her beer was spilled. Come on now. You're not that far away from the stage and I think you're gonna make it!

Personally, I NEVER drink during shows....but that's more because I don't want to have to leave my spot to pee, haha.

Fuck the floor at the aragon. The best seats in that place are the balconies which you can easily get a fantastic seat in if you're there within 30 min of doors.

08/29/09 9:25 AM

Awesome show! I was in the left balcony and the guys sitting around me were really cool. Two guys were filming. I thought the crowd was overall really great. I could practically hear everyone sing in unison throughout the show.

Of course you are going to have the random drunk guy yelling one thing during hurt but that happens at every show. There was some chatter during LITS but it didn't bother me since it was far from me.

Great fucking show and peter murphy on the balcony of the venue was priceless! This is a BEAUTIFUL venue and I was happy they were using it as part of the show.

Let's see what Saturday's show at Aragon has in store.

This will be my 5th show tonight and I haven't seen Reptile, either! I hear that!

I was second row back... so... there was a mosh pit??? hahaha I was completely compacted into less than one square foot all night, I believe. I wasn't even standing up straight. Spent the night hunched over. So, yeah, it was pretty bad with the squishing up where I was. If I tried to straighten up or push back to, oh, you know, BREATHE for once, they pushed back 3x harder than I pushed them. Jeez. The dudes to my left/behind were AWESOME. Weren't leaning arms on me or anything... the people to the right/behind, to hell with you! I tried to move their elbows off of my shoulder MOST of the show. They'd lift them, then they'd put them right back down. I am not your damn elbow rest! There's no reason you can't move some to remove your elbow at SOME POINT during the show. I started with my arm on a girl's shoulder (I had my arm up to take a pic and they started and I got smashed that way), but when I got the space, we worked together and got it off of her!

My video (Flip Ultra HD) is OK, but now kinda wish I had something much better (not sure what though, and while cameras were perfectly fine, I don't think they would have been cool with a big videocam).

I had a great time at the show, outside of one issue. I was directly behind the audio/light consoles, and whoever was doing the lights had some friends with him. One of them decided to stand up next to the projectors and block the view for a ton of people. After 3 songs, I went up and asked the security guard to take care of the problem. He told me no and that the guy is doing lighting. A few more songs pass, and I ask the guard again, this time pointing out the guy hasn't done a fucking thing since I last talked to him. Finally the guard told the guy to get down.

Anyway, I prefer taking everything in from a distance. I used to be at the front/the pit, but I'd end up missing too much of what's going on.
