This was my fifth NIN show in fifteen years. (yeah a bit of a hiatus in there.). Nothing like being a fan since PHM and getting to see Last for the first time during my final show.

It was my little cousin Kari's first show and we were in the pit in the thirdish row so how awesome is that? Her non bf Tony is my buddy and fellow Nails fanatic and the fact we won her ticket from Leo on here just added to an amazing experience.

I lasted about an hour and ten minutes into Nails up front and had to bail. Too goddamn hot an hard to breathe. Getting older has made that shit rough.

Totally loved the set list everything included. To me hearing some of the stuff that doesn't make my regular playlist makes good times for me. Yeah there were the usual college age douchebags that think it's fun to force their way up into the front and for them fucks I hope you liked the steel toed boot to your shin. And the awesome security guy who was like eight feet ten and lifting 250# guys out like it was nothing. I saw plenty of girls fall out too from the heat and that big boy really got in there fast and took care of them. Cheers to you bro, seriously, o keeper of the right side.

It was intimate, fun, energized and I screamed my fucking lungs out to nearly every song. I had one too many beers preshow hence the early pit exit but still enjoyed it from under the balcony.

I liked Mew's sound but fuck their lead singer's voice and the fact that I couldn't make out a single lyric that wasn't on the screen made the good music unbearable. Either pump the vocals or just play instrumentals. That screeching shit was for the birds.

In my humble opinion, I was happy to have had only the occasional drunken retard frat boy. I love me some beers but can so go without full out moshing. I want to sing dance an have a great experience with my friends and not have some dickhead flailing into me.

Great show Trent and guys! It was so worth selling my soul to get the night off!

Amazing show!!!!!!!!

Was on the rail, pretty much in front of Robin, with Rachel (she_shines92), Kayley (Killaya), KayCee (sangerette), and Jackie (theblackestsea). Everybody brought their A-game, AMAZING setlist, AMAZING performances, AMAZING everything!!!

Lights in the Sky!!!!!!!!! I had never heard that one live before, and I was hoping and hoping and they played it. I couldn't be happier with this show, totally great.

And I shook Rob's hand after March of the Pigs. He has really soft hands tongue sticking out smiley Made a great performance even better! I showed him my tattoo of Troublemaker on my arm and he smiled. Made me totally happy grinning smiley

All in all, the wait in the pouring rain at midnight was completely fucking worth it. Best show I have ever seen, ever.

Was that the first time he has played closer on this tour

Great show! I got to meet a lot of interesting folks there.. cheers to nin :]

08/30/09 9:22 AM

Show was great, set list was awesome, but getting beaten up the the drunk guys on the right side (mentioned earlier) really put a damper on it. As soon as one of them moved, another decided it would be fun to kick the shit out of my feet during Burn. Both feet completely swollen haha.

It was still a great time - THANK YOU Trent & all smiling smiley

08/30/09 9:06 AM

Oh yeah, almost forgot about Mew, haha. I can't say i really dug Mew, but I still was respectful and listened to everything they played--which made me mad that there were these assholes around me flicking them off and booing them. They put alot of work into their music, and were enjoying playing it and I think they should get full respect for that alone.

What was everyone's favorite moment of the night though? I'm sticking with "Down in it"...I couldn't beleive it. Instant hard nipples, yep.

Oh and why did trent have to end the show with hurt? sad smiley I mean, I liked it but it just made everything really sad. "If I could start again...a million miles away" just made me think about Trent's entire career and how touring is coming to an end.

08/30/09 12:13 PM

Are there any *full show* audio/video downloads up yet?

08/30/09 12:15 PM

I'd like to get a hold of one of the Aragon NIN show posters. I was at both shows and planned on getting on Sat. so that I could enjoy up close on Friday and stand back a bit on Sat. so the poster didn't get ruined. Does any one have an extra I can get from them? I'd also be interested in an extra of the tour poster as well...... both mint, no dents or tears please! (steadyhaste@hotmail.com)

I thought the show rocked, it was the best view Ive ever had for NIN. I was at the very front against the gate on the right side. if anyone else was over there I was the guy with the short military hair cut and a black shirt (as if that helps lol) and there was a really short chick to my left and a hot chick in a blue shirt behind me...
I was really pleased to see burn live, that kicked ass...

OMG THIS SHOW WAS AWESOME...... The pit WAS a death sentence (lol) but my friend (merlyntemple) and I stayed put! We got rail and the weight,pushing,etc...of the 5000+people was a bit overwhelming @x... The set list was wonderful and MEW was AWESOME!!I Personally thought THIS show was the Best Concert..... EVER!!!!....... Until the Saturday one of corse....... winking smiley ////

08/30/09 3:00 PM

Amazing! One for the ages! (And I saw PETER EFFING MURPHY! AaaaaahYES! When I recognized Atmosphere I bawled... never got to see Bauhaus or Joy Division back in the day.)

I was close to the front of the non-presale line and managed to get damn close to the rail, but was seriously bummed when half-way through Mew someone next to me lit up a cigarette and I caught the full brunt of it - my asthma kicked up something fierce (and continued to be uncool even after inhaler). sad smiley There was NO way I was going to make it through the crush, so I escaped to the stage-right balcony where I had a decent view of the stage, there was room to move, and I loved every second of it. Fantastic set list, unbelievable show, the only thing that could have made it better was getting a ticket for Sat, too! (lol)

Except for the sixty-year old man trying to steal my spot, I had a great time at this show!

08/30/09 3:40 PM

Flew in to Chicago from Dallas.

I was about three back from the barricade in between Robin and Trent. Both my friend and I got damn near crushed to death, but she got carried over the front and i fought my way back a little. Crowd was a little intense in front.

What a beautiful venue to see NIN in. The ceiling was wonderful, it gave the entire concert such an interesting vibe, especially during the slower moments.

Peter Murphy was fantastic, and his entrance on the balcony was pure Peter Murphy.

It's still taking me a while to fully grip I'll never see NIN again. I was fortunate enough to see them five times total. I wish that number could get bigger.

it didn't really hit me until the final few songs that i really may not ever scream all of "head like a hole" at a show again.

and btw, even though NIN superfans on the forum usually hate on "Closer" being played, I was really happy to hear it one last time.

thank you, trent reznor. i got to see the monster that is NIN live one last time.

08/30/09 4:00 PM

I got in line at about 10:15 sitting, was by myself but had an extra ticket. now I have waited in a lot of lines but this was one was something else! I was treading the 8+ hour wait for the Friday show but it turned out to be awesome. Thanks to Scott, Monique, Lex, Steph, Eric, and eveyone else(sorry it was an aweoms ebut long weekend cant remember everyones names) who were around me in line. Made the day go a lot smoother and the wait seem like a lot less of a drag.
Got in and was about 5 rows back on the right side. I was very impressed that they kept everything going on time, wristbands, doors, mew, nin all got going very efficiantly, no BS. Security not being able to mske their minds up on what would be let in was BS though, they need to get this together.
Mew... not impressed. Sorry just couldnt get into them and the singer was litteraly giving me a headache. I stood and listened politely though, no reason to boo or be an ass about it. I was actually pretty surprised that the crowd was so kind to them. I go to lots of shows in Chicago and Milwaukee and usually opening bands get a lot more shit in Chicago.
Right as Nails came on the crowd surged and I ended up being able to get a hand on the rail, though there were still two squished people in front of me. I also got really excited after the first 3 sonds cause I had been hoping to hear an album in its entirity, but didnt get quite that lucky. Still an amazing set, heard most of the songs I wanted to hear and it all went very smoothly, except for Peter Murphy... glad some people enjoyed him, I was just unfamiliar with a couple of the songs he did and while he is a performer out there I wasnt a fan of his vocals(I did like how they used the Balcony, Aragon is one of my favorite venues cause of how cool it looks inside and they used it well) I wish people would have kept their mouths clothes and their off-beat clapping quiet during hurt though, I was pretty pissed when during the "crown of shit" line some kid next to me screamed out "Schiester!"... kinda wanted to take him out after that, but couldnt ruin the rest of the song for myself. Other than that is seemed like it went very quickly, I cant believe it was 32 songs! Was also pretty cool that Trent was in a fiesty mood, I knew it was gonna be a good night when during the 2nd or third song he launched a mic stand into the lighting above and threw his guitar across the stage. Afterwards I hung out up front tryin to get a pick, drumstick, setlist, anything. A pic got thrown out and I looked up to try to grab it... just my luck as I was lookin up for it a drumstick literally smacks me right in the forehead and I didnt get it(Sat night made up for it if u read my post in there) As for security, I think the people complaining must be used to being pampered at shows! I thought during NIN they did a great job, got the people out who wanted out, kept most of the crowd surfers from crushing the front row(did get hit a few times but its a NIN shw, what do you expect?), and they were at least giving us some water during the show and passing out bottles after(I have NEVER been to a show where security gave out full bottles of water during the show, stange to see that as a complaint from people)
After we fianlly filtered out, exiting Aragon it rediculus, met back up with my line buddies and went to Uptown Bar right across the parking lot, pretty cool place, played some Nails and other good stuff until later on.
Then it was time to get ready for Saturday...

It's hard to say where Friday's show would "rank" in the 27 show's I've seen since 1991's lollapalooza, when Trent and co. first blew my mind, and changed me forever. I have had the distinct fortune to see every one of his tours, and I have been amazed by every one of them. In my opinion a true Artist evolves and his art reflects that.
Friday night's setlist and the energy put out by the band probably puts this show in my top 3 though for sure. I have seen NIN 27 times, yet this eas the 1st time I finally got to see "Last" performed live! Thank You Trent!
I was on the rail, left side right in front of Justin, and it was a little nutty (especially for a 38 yr old LOL) but I honestly am in the "zone"! There could be 1,000,000 other people there, or 2 and I couldnt tell you what they were doing, or if they were "in to it". I couldn't care less. I am IN to it, and I was enjoying every second that Trent and the band was giving us. Yes, people talking is extremely rude, but they usually either wear out from lack of stamina, or someone weeds them out eventually. I just try and tune everything else out.
Out of the 2 chicago show's, I definitely think the Fri night set was my favorite, but they were both fantastic. Thank You Trent!

Update: Neck still kills, body is still sore. Sign of a very, very good show. Also, I definitely couldn't get into Mew. Not my type of music. The drummer was killin it, but otherwise, not my cup of tea. Trent has some insane taste in music.

Oh, one other thing!! My faith in humanity was restored, if even only for a little while. I was shut out on the NIN.com pre-sale for these shows, but a fellow nin.com member, that I didn't even know, from another state 1200 miles away, e-mailed me after seeing my sad, disappointed posts, and said she had one extra for the friday show.
I was a little worrieed at first, thinking how would this ever work? Can I trust this person, I am sending money to a total stranger?
Long story short Janis (you know who you are...and you ROCK) sold me the ticket for face value, AND held me a spot in line until I could get down there after work.
There ARE some decent, good people left in the world!!!!
(got my Sat tix thru TicketScamster)
Thanks Janis!!!

Damn! I didn't know "last" was that rare of a song to be played live. I'm only 20 years old, born right before pretty hate machine, ahha--so I've only had the pleasure of seeing NIN twice, drove to a third concert in Minneapolis that was cancelled. I was really happy to hear "last" though, would've been crazy to hear all of 'Broken' from beginning to end. You are extremely lucky to have been born at the right time to see this many NIN concerts. If I was as old as you and could've seen the Downward Spiral tour---I would be incredibly happy, but I guess I should feel lucky enough I got a ticket to the last show as where sooo many people missed out.

6 AM?! If only. It's MUCH worse than that!!!

I thought it was a Colonialist hat. Hearkening back to the Revolution or something. It's by FAR not the weirdest thing I saw come down the sidewalk. Did you see the chicks with the fur boots? Looked like they were gorillas from the knees down. Or how about the guy dressed as a priest on Saturday? Saw quite a few people who were reliving 1994 too, or never left it.

And those were the more normal ones. Pirate Hat didn't strike me as odd. tongue sticking out smiley

Amazing show. I met some really nice people. I don't remeber all of their names....David, A.J., Rachel, Aubrey, Andrea and I don't remember the other two girls with Andrea and Aubrey. Started out in what I now jokingly call the "death pit" about 6th or 8th row in front of Justin. NIN could not have put on a better show. They were amazing from start to finish. My friend Dawn had to leave the "death pit" into Wish because it was so hard to breathe. I got to SICNH before I had to bail. Not only could I not catch my breath I lost my top and bra down around my waist LOL. I don't think anyone noticed because we were so squished. I covered up the best I could under the circumstances and got to a calmer place a few rows back to the side of the stage near the speaker and I would like to thank all of the gentleman who helped me get out. As soon as you knew I needed to get out you quickly came to my aid and I am very grateful for that. I enjoyed the show much better not being sandwiched between people unable to catch my breath. I've been on the rail or right behind the rail for three other NIN shows but this was rough for me. Thank you again to all of those who helped me out.

Thank you to Trent, Justin, Ilan and Robin for an amazing show.

i can't compare the two shows, posted my 2cents on the 8/29 forum, but, to sum it up, it was a fukkin' AWESOME week-end, the 29th, i was on the rail, between jmj and trent,...because of that, the 29th was #1 and the 28th was #1a

08/30/09 9:41 PM

The concert was incredible.

I was able to attend with my best friend and a girl I've been dating who is very special to me that really hasn't ever got to experience a band live like Nine Inch Nails. I had made her three cds that contained 45 of Nine Inch Nail's best songs and printed the lyrics to them a few weeks ago.... on the drive from Michigan to Chicago I kind of explained to her what each song was about, what record it was on and when it came out....

When I got to the show we had one extra ticket, I let one lucky fan in with us for face value, it was awesome to do that when other nin fans were scalping their tickets for $150-$200....shame on them!!!

I've seen some people on here looking down on some people for using drugs to enhance their concert experience, to each their own... but the three of us each took a capsule of mdma, and by the 5th song of the concert it was Lauren who wanted to make the move to get as close as we could to the stage, and just seeing... her experience the same emotions toward the band like the first time I saw them 1994.. being so consumed by the sound... it just made me so happy... you shouldn't judge people or make fun of them for only knowing a few nin songs... who cares if it was "CLOSER" that got them to the show.... I think that once anyone gets into a nine inch nails show... by the end of the night they "get it", they feel the energy, and the atmosphere consumes them and makes them a fan... and I'd hope they decide to explore more NIN songs....

Peter Murphy was incredible, the setlist was perfect... I was up towards the front, near the right side, some people were moshing, but everyone enjoys the concert experience in their own way...my only complaint was the no "WATER BOTTLE" policy.. because we "MIGHT THROW IT AT THE BAND"... the people up front need to have a water bottle because water in a cup just spills/splashes out.....

I was happy to spend the evening with all of you who could attend and am happy the band decided to put on these shows in a more small/intimate venue.

I can't wait to see them again next week in California.

I hope I get Reptile/Ruiner on one of the two nights out there!!!

-Justin

This show i was about 5 rows of people back from the rail (part of ticketmaster presale). I was with a few people i became friends with in line and of the now 9 NIN shows i've been to, this was the roughest pit I had ever been in. i was center-left and got everything from elbows, knees (yes you read right), and even heads hitting my ribs, spine, or the back of my head. I used all of my strength and even hurt my ankle a bit to try to remain in the same spot or general area in this case and somehow I did after lots of getting thrown around. Maryelle is right, there were a ton of people who looked like they were still stuck in 1994 there. Lots of kids who wanted nothing better to do but make sure you were on the ground while they would attempt to brand their shoe logo into your forehead. People like that who obviously aren't there for the music as much (clearly evident when one of them near me yelled "play a real song!" when Trent was singing Something I Can Never Have) they just annoy the hell out of me. I guess you can never truly have 100% die-hard NIN fans only at a show, but that's life.

The show itself was great and I noticed the fantastic sound the Aragon had to offer! It was intense starting off with Wish and Last (first time seeing it live) but after march it calmed down. seeing SICNH was great one more time, but i was excited with the drums started for Head Down. I love that song and was hoping to hear it one more time during these 2 final shows for me. Banged and Blown Through was excellent and a first time hearing it for me. Non-Entity was another i was glad to hear again as was Eraser! I did not expect that one! Sure peter murphy screwed up lyrics, blah blah blah. He did however do a great job on Dead Souls. Nothing much to complain about really...I had a great time, even though i tweaked my ankle and about died the first few songs in the pit. I learned from it and went to the center rail that went into the middle of the first 10 rows of the pit the next night...and it was a brilliant decision.
