Does anyone remember what song it was when he kicked over/bumped into the keyboard and then threw his guitar towards the back of the stage? I remember it was real early but I can't remember which song.

09/01/09 10:08 AM

The song was Terrible Lie. I believe he also threw the keyboard down at the beginning of 1,000,000.

Agree the crowd's energy wasn't the same as that of the May NIN/JA show...but then again, I was in the pit for the May show and at the back of the floor for Friday's show. My girl friend and I were the chicks with the big boots and lots of tattoos!

I don't know what you're all talking about- at least where I was (rail in front of Robin) the crush was so bad that I left with HUGE bruises on both of my knees and on my left forearm from the crowd moshing. I thought it was a great show! Plenty of energy coming off the stage and from the fans in my immediate area.

When they went Pinion, Wish, Last, I was like "OH FUCK IT'S GONNA BE ALL OF BROKEN!!..... oh wait, there's Discipline NOOOO Oh well!" It was still a fantastic show. Thanks Robin for being so interactive with those of us in front of you, you're awesome!

Overall I think Saturday's show was better than Friday's but I have zero complaints about this show. Except maybe about venue security, but I'll just leave that topic alone. If you experienced the stampede, you'll know what I mean.

Finally have some time to do this.

After getting a meatball marinara sandwich and accidentally asking for mayo on it (fail) my husband and I lined up around 3pm. At first it was funny to watch everyone just sit there and play on Access, but by the time wristbanding was going on our little group on the sidewalk was talking and joking. To the dude who likes to collect half drank water bottles and then drink the rest: that is fucking hilarious!

We went in and got second from the rail right in front of JMJ. I just started playing bass so that was pretty awesome and I have to say that JMJ absolutely OWNS his part of the stage. He is a blast to watch. I had quite a good sightline of Trent, but I found myself watching JMJ a lot without a care in the world.

The pit was definitely less of a crush where I was than Charter One in May. I never had one moment where I couldn't breathe, and I could barely breathe for the entire Charter One show. Although, the crowd in the area WAS into it. We were getting crushed and pushed around, but there was actually airflow and you had to actually STAND (my favorite comment from the May show was "I'm standing with my shoulders"winking smiley. It was a fun crush and I enjoyed it.

I went to Saturday's show too and that was my favorite of the two, but together they are like a dream setlist. The weekend wouldn't be the same without Terrible Lie, The Wretched, SICNH, Non-Entity, LITS, and Down In It. I also loved watching Peter Murphy.

I've been to 7 NIN shows now and had only seen Closer one other time, so I liked seeing that again. I hate the fact that it brings sorority girl types to the show who talk during Hurt, etc. But, that song has one hell of a synth bass line and it kicks ass live.

All in all, completely awesome...Thanks guys!

Weren't you also at the Toronto show in June with a green headband on (you either had rail or were right behind the people that did)?

I'm ecstatic I finally got to see SICNH and Down in it.

If it wasn't for "Closer" there would have been no Wave Goodbye tour. Why do Closer, Terrible Lie, Down in it get the best crowd response and why are the played 90% of the time? Because they are the best songs.

If you have seen NIN ten times and they've played the songs 90%, you have to sit through Closer 9 times. A few short of a million. You can stick it out a few minutes to let the majority of the fans hear what they want.

Never said I had a problem sitting through Closer… in fact I started looking forward to it once they started adding the only time break. My point was that Friday night’s set list was not in any way special considering that these shows were supposedly designed for die hard fans.

Closer, Terrible Lie, Down in it got the best crowd response and they are the best songs? I guess you were not there both nights…

Yep, that was me. I wore my "NINJA" headband for the NIN|JA shows. Apparently I leave quite an impression.

hey, I remember you... me and my girlfriend were in line right behind you and your friend waiting for hours and eating shitty chicago corn in a cup... how was the saturday show?

Saturday was awesome, and I remember you guys too. Oh god, corn in a cup... I got some saturday, but mine had twice as much canine pepper in it, I could barely eat it.

The Friday show was great. I was on the rail on Justin's side. My personal favorite moment of the night was when Justin came over and leaned against the stage equipment and just leered down at us like he knew he was the fucking man.

I was on Robin's side of the stage for the Charter one show and didn't get to pay much attention to Justin. I must say he puts on quite a show. It was fun to watch him work.

First and foremost just a big THANK YOU to Trent and company for 20 years of pure genius!

As a fan for 20 years, with countless NIN concert experiences, I have to say I take something away from each and every show I see. From The Downward Spiral tour with Manson and Jim Rose up, to LIghts in the Sky with the AMAZING visuals, up to the most recent show at the Aragon. Each show holds a memory in my heart. I have only had the opportunity to see NIN in a smaller venue twice. Once being at the Congress in Chicago for their With Teeth mini-tour, which I have to say was just incredible. The Aragon show was surreal. I've been torn up at other shows, but made it a priority to be sober and enjoy what Trent say's will be his last tour (although I am almost sure this is not the last we will see of him).

I brought a friend who had never seen NIN live and gave him warning that this will be an intense show, unlike anything he has seen. First off, the crowd was so not subdued. I am sure if you were farther back they were, but from about the rail to the sound board it was chaos. I was about 15 back on the left had side, and as soon as Pinion started I was a squished pickle. Granted I am not the largest of people, but by Wish I could not breathe. There were assholes sprinkled here and there, but this is to be expected, and in a way, you know they were true fans who were in the moment, so I let it go. The ONLY thing that pissed me off was this chick in front of me who kept, really I don't know how to describe it, giving out guttural grunts during SICNH and most of the slower songs. Listen whore, I love Trent too, have not seen Something I Can Never Have live since, I dunno 94, you're not a bear so SHUT IT!

In any event, great crowd, incredible set list, better than Saturday night I think (since he played songs not played in years) Stop complaining about the crowd being lame. We were trying to take it in. We don't have to be animals to love NIN. I am going to say the majority of assfucks were under 25. Those of us who have been fans since 89, were not the young ones we used to be. We actually want to hear the music, maybe dance a little, sing along and soak up the atmosphere.

This show was honestly the worst Nine Inch Nails show I have seen. Set list was typical. The venue was extremely hot and the sound was awful. Crowd was full of drunken frat guys. Also, Peter Murphy is a punishment to the crowd. I feel so sorry for anyone that ended up going only to this Chicago show.

On the other hand, the show on Saturday was easily one of the top shows I have seen (minus the same drunk frat guys and Peter Murphy).

Also, what is with the health care reform people accosting people as they are walking through the doors or spending $30 for a NIN t-shirt? I know Trent is now preaching his political views, but I really don’t want to be solicited the shows. I don’t think it is right to try and take advantage of the fans. I really don’t want the government, Trent, or any person I saw at the venue in charge of my healthcare or any other aspect of my life.

Wasn’t this the same Trent that wrote songs about the dangers of government in Year Zero? Now that the political parties have changed (really just in name), he wants the government to be in charge of one of the most intimate things in our lives? Don’t trust republicans, don’t trust democrats, and never trust the government.

take the negativity somewhere else. this show was great better than Saturday imo. and this was the only show my brother got to go to and since he's only into NIN pre fragile he didn't like the Saturday setlist as much as friday's and I agree with him. c'mon if you only went to the saturday show you would have missed out on classics such as last, closer, down in it, terrible lie. plus they opened with wish which was awesome cuz by the time they played it on saturday i was already bored.

Not the worst show, your negativity sucks. Do us a favor...next time NIN plays, if ever, stay far away.

Simply amazing show. I loved every last minute of it. Me and my Bf were up front and when they came on everyone started pushing like crazy. LOL My Bf was behind me protecting me from the waves. I felt so bad. I got super mad cause this drunk guy next to us was shoving us hard so I reached over and pushed him back hard. xD But after a while I couldn't take it cause i was getting claustrophobic so we had to go back a little bit. sad smiley

This was absolutely the best show I've ever been to. NIN kicks ass live and I have an unbelievable sense of respect for them now (more than I had already) for their incredible sound, energy, and showmanship for their performance. I was about 25 people back, and got a lot of video, basically the entire concert. I'll post whenever I can for that. If anyone has the audio of the show on a torrent (the one posted no longer has seeds) I'd be really happy. I do have to thank everyone who posted their videos, photos, and the set-list. It made me smile to look back on this and see all of everyone's stories. I feel so lucky to have seen NIN before it is all over. Again, incredible show. Unbelievable.
